Having Some Dryness Issues

I'm starting my fourth week on the regimen and i've had 3 mild breakouts so far since I started. My face is becoming more and more dry everyday it seems. My skin tends to feel very gritty and rough even after moisturizing+jojoba. I've been applying 3 pumps of moisturizer and 6-7 drops of jojoba. My skin is starting to look gross and worn out >.<. Should I try a new moisturizer or cleaner? Or should I maybe go back to only applying bp once a day? Because during my first week my skin was looking and feeling awesome. Any tips would be appreciated, thanks guys!

Looks like we started the regimen at the same time! I'm also starting my fourth week. What I did from the very beginning was to apply 1-2 drops of jojoba oil on my lips every day before going to bed. So far I have not had any problems with dryness on my lips. Here's a video of Dan using jojoba oil as a lip balm:

I was also struggling with dry, rough skin. I did not feel that Dan's Moisturizer + the jojoba oil were doing a very good job with the flakiness. What I started doing a few days ago was to apply Dan's Moisturizer + 6 drops jojoba oil in the mornings. In the evenings I use Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream + a few drops jojoba oil instead. Cetaphil has really helped with the dryness/flakiness so far. The skin around my mouth and the chin isn't very dry anymore and my forehead and cheeks are getting better and better every day. So if you don't feel that Dan's Moisturizer is doing a good enough job at the moment, try something else :)

Is your skin also very red from using the BP? My face got extremely red in the 2nd week, so I decided to use a thinner line of BP (I'm using the tube). It helped a lot with the redness.

I would consider the 4th week still pretty early in the regimen. Around that time I was having the worst breakout and I struggled with redness and flaking. Don't let that discourage you. If you feel dry throughout the day you can always add a bit of moisturizer here and there.

As for the gritty rough skin..I got clear at 10 weeks, but I still had really dry skin up to my 3rd month of the regimen. Don't let it discourage you because sometimes it takes a while for your skin to feel like normal skin again. If you feel like Dan's moisturizer isn't giving your face enough moisture, then try another one. I really do believe not all the same products works for everyone. Some people need less moisture, others need more.

Good luck! :)

Alright thanks! No, I haven't had any problem with redness, just dryness pretty much. The only other thing is that sometimes when I apply the bp, my eyes burn a little bit, that's

about it though.

You have reached the sucky stage...thats about the best description I can give - just keep at it. You've been given a couple of good tips above, I second the combination of Dan's moisturiser during the day and cetaphil at night...it really helped me.

And pretty soon, you can start to introduce AHA which should really help with the dry skin. As you aren't suffering from redness, its probably ok to start AHA sooner if you like.

Good luck....you can get through this stage! :)

How long does this stage last? Yea i'm definitely going to try the cetaphil moisturizer, and I'm probably going to wait one more week before I start AHA. Does AHA completely replace the moisturizer?

At first mix it 50% with your moisturizer every few nights, and when you feel your skin has got used to it you can either do that every night or use the AHA on its own every few nights and use the moisturizer on its own when you dont. I always say listen to your skin, if it starts to get irritated from it then just use it less often. smile.png Its just like when you first use BP, just start slowly.
