Hello guys,
I havn't used shampoo to wash my hair in over 2 years. The reason is I get horrible breakouts down my back and face whenever I use it.
Anyone have any shampoos that they use that don't cause breakouts? Or a good non-comdogenic shampoo I can buy?
Please I really want to start shampooing again but don't know where to start.
Have you tried Shea Moisture? Their products don't contain any chemical preservatives, although some of their products (e.g. their acne wash) contain salicylates so you may want to avoid those if you are sensitive. I started using their shampoo and conditioner a few days ago and I no longer have itchy scalp and haven't had any flare ups. If you are in the US, you can find them at walgreens and target.

Which conditioner do you use? And im a male with short hair kind of like army style haircut. Should I be conditioning or is that only for people with long hair?
I'm going to give that a try. I just started getting itchy scalp. Anyone have other shampoos they use that don't break them out?
For itchy scalp, I apply a bit of tea tree oil a few hours before washing my hair, then rinse it off. The conditioner I use now is called restorative conditioner by shea moisture. I went without shampoo for a few days, and I had to use both shampoo and conditioner to get rid of the itchiness, so you may need both depending on your hair and how uncomfortable your scalp feels right now.
Great, which one did you get? Is your hair oily or dry? If it's oily, wash it once every 2 days. If it's dry, you can go for 3 days without washing. Start with a small amount of shampoo the first time, apply it to the top of your scalp and let it lather downwards. Then observe your skin for the next 2 days to see if there is a reaction, which there shouldn't be because it's hypoallergenic but just to be safe. If your skin is doing well after the first shampoo, add a bit more the second time and also add a pea sized amount of conditioner. The shea conditioner I have says to leave it on for 3 mins or longer for deeper conditioning, but the first time I only left it on for 1 minute to see how my skin would do. I had no breakouts since using these products, hope they work for you! My local walmarts didn't have the whole line, so I'm not sure I got the ones for my hair type but so far my hair looks good and my scalp doesn't itch.
