this is my first official post @ acne.org and after 8 weeks on the regimen, my skin has cleared an incredible amount. i can now confidently wear no make up to work and feel happy in my skin!
in 1 months time, i am going to asia for 7 weeks and am worried about deviating from the regimen now that i've achieved good results. these are my dilemmas:
1) applying twice a day- if im in the water, sunbathing etc- will my face become extremely dry after a morning application of BP?? also, is there a greater risk of sunburn? i plan to take olay complete spf 15 and dont break out with this product.
2) if i decide to cut down to once a day, do i need to prepare my skin gradually for this in the next month?
aahhhh, scared! please help acne.org community..... you've been amazing so far... x x x
Hello... To answer your question, if you choose to do the regimen twice daily, you should be vigilant about applying sunscreen as BP will make you photosensitive... My suggestion would be to taper into a once a day regimen, only at night beginning now, to prepare you for your trip... That way, your skin will grow accustomed to applying the regimen once daily while on your trip. Then you can move back to twice daily slowly, once you return. Hope that's helpful.. Good luck and keep us up to date on your progress...

nycqueen,
thank you so much for your reply. im nervous about reducing the BP but only time will tell. i know that there are people on here that have maintained their results by cutting it down and on not so sunny days/days inside, i can always bump it up to two applications if things get a little rocky!
thanks xo
Hi... I travelled Australia for six months, where two and a half months were spent in the city working where i did not go to the beach that much, therefore i did two applications of the regime daily. The other three and a half months i was traveling up the east coast surfing and at the beach every day so i only did a nightly application.
In my opinion your morning routine should be
1. wake up
2. eat breakfast
3. wash ur face
4. dry your face and wait 10 min
5. apply moisturizer than apply your sunscreen after moisturizer has soaked in.
-Than have an awesome carefree day filled with adventure and awesome times.
- before bed do the full nightly regime
-I personally think you should continue doing the regime twice a day until your trip, and than when you begin your vacation drop to once a day.
-I don't believe that your skin needs to be prepared to drop to once daily where it will need to be a slow process to go back to two times daily once you return.
-For sunscreen i used olay complete defense spf 30 and when i was in the water i would just put on an application of invisible zinc i believe.
-If you do not want to use the invisible zinc, wash your hands and re lather with what you are using after you get out of the water
- Wear a hat even with your sunscreen on
- Take advantage of the ocean as the salt water is so good for the skin. The power of salt water for complexion is so under appreciated.
- Have a great time
joeyicecream,
thanks for your advice! im curious, did you notice a big change in your skin when you dropped to the once nightly application or did the sun and salt water help you out a little bit? i just want to avoid a huge breakout when im away and wanting to spent time outside, meeting people and enjoying myself! its a big knock to the ol' confidence otherwise....
hope you can help that little bit more
thanks x
During the three and a half months i would say that my skin was actually better just because i had no stress from work or anything and i was just lying on the beaches swimming, surfing and lots of fun with fellow travelers every day. Yes i do stand by the theory that the salt water is a magnificiant tool for complexion. The sun is great just be careful not to get too much. I would definitely recommend buying a hat and spending some of the day in the shade. Don't be one of those travelers that the first day you get there bake in the sun all day and ruin your next week because your skin is fried.
-Make sure you pack your regime kit in zip lock baggies so they do not ruin your clothes or bag
- i know it is hard but do your best to just not even think about acne or having the perfect complexion
I am jealous of your travels i cant wait to get over to SE asia
