In the regimen instructions, it says only use

1. Facial cleanser such as Dan's cleanser or cetaphil cleanser

2. Benzoyl peroxide 2.5%

3. Dan's moisturizer or cetaphil moisturizer

I see there are many people here who do the regime but dont use dans cleanser or moisturizer and use cetaphil. I also see some ppl mention they use the moisturizer with some jojoba oil and Dan recommends this.

Dan says this regime has to be followed strictly such as you have to wash your face in 10 seconds etc and all that.

Well does this mean during this whole time, you are not allowed to do any type of mask like an aspirin mask, sulfur mask or put anything else like honey mask?

That's correct. Until you are clear and have been that way for a while, it is recommended that you don't add in any other factors. When you clear up, you can start playing around with your routine

I used Dans cleanser, BP, and moisturizer for four and a half months. Recently I started using a Cetaphil cleanser because I didn't have any acne. I agree with the reply above. Stay with his products until your clear and then you can (dont have to) try out different products to fit your skin. I only switched the cleanser because I felt like it was too drying for me. Good luck.

I say for the first 3 months of using the regimen, follow it as strictly as you can. It takes determination, persistence and dedication. When your skin is clear, you can start experimenting. That's what I did. I ditched Acne.org's cleanser and moisturizer. They just weren't anything special to me. I absolutely love Acne.org Jojoba oil and BP though. Those two products are the skin care products I've used daily for longer than any other products.

I use a different cleanser and moisturizer though. Technically I only do the regimen once per day because BP twice a day was too drying for my skin.

I wouldn't use an Asprin or Sulfer mask. Honey you could do because it's really gentle and not drying. If you really want to do masks and use other products while on the regimen stick to SUPER gentle things. Don't use any other acne treatment but BP while on the regimen.

If you're going to try a mask I'd say try the Avocado-Honey mask. Here's what you'll need: one avocado, one banana, one egg and one tablespoon of honey.

What about sunscreen? Do you have to use that as a 4th step for the morning?

I think if you're looking for a foolproof way of getting clear then you should probably stick to the 3 products; at least for the first few months.

When I started the regimen, after a few weeks I realized I was constantly ordering new moisturizer for my stupidly dry skin and the expenses from shipping were stacking up unnecessarily. So I switched to a drugstore Olay moisturizer (that was well reviewed on these boards) and that worked fine for me. But this was after my initial purging stage and when I was starting to properly clear up.

I did however use jojoba oil from the beginning. I was so scaley and flakey all the time that I needed it from day 2; just a few drops in my moisturizer made such a difference. I also used a non-comodogenic moisturizer from day 1, because I started the regimen in summer and I was in Boston and the sun was burning the skin that I wasn't applying a mild bleaching agent to so it seemed necessary haha

So to summarize: try to stick to the 3 main products. However if it's essential for you to add another product (like sunscreen) make sure you research thoroughly and read through these boards to find one that fits the bill. Good luck!
