I'm 16 and Male and I've been on the DKR for about 3 months now, and I'm still having some major problems as you can see:

Dark spots, daily breakouts, and flaking caused by the BP really make me hate my skin, and I'm just going to tell you the process that I've already gone through.

I used Cetaphil cleanser, Neutrogena on the spot BP, and cetaphil moistuizer for about 1 month. My skin began to look a bit better.

I then switched to DK's BP instead of the Neutrogena on the spot because it was getting a bit too pricey. The flaking was CRAZY so I bought a jojoba oil to fix it and it worked. I was still breaking out quite a bit though.

Then the flaking and burning returned, so I started only to use the BP at night and switched to AHA in the mornings paired with moisturizer with added SPF, this made my skin feel so much lighter and less reptilian.

NOW: My skin currently looks like the pictures above, obviously not so good, Dark spots have attacked and daily breakouts are coming back. I can only attribute this to the lack of BP in the morning.... SOOOOOOOO

This is what I'm thinking of switching back to...

AM: Cetaphil Cleanser, Dk's BP, The Naked bee Moisturizer-

http://www.amazon.com/THE-Naked-BEE-Vitamin-Moisturizer/dp/B007MF8846/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1359767896&sr=8-1&keywords=naked+bee+c

(I'm switching to this moisturizer for the Vitamin C witch helps the dark spots, and the extra SPF for sun control)

PM: all of the above but with a small ammount of DK's AHA, after moistruizer as a spot treatment for the problem areas.

Total Regimin time: 30 minutes or so

SO, what do you think? Questions comments? Your input is greatly appreciated!

You live in the US I presume? You can get dans products quite easily! Its bad for people like me in the UK.

Something is not worth doing if it's not worth doing right, try using his products, make sure you are defiantly following the instructions on the website, not to insult you or anything but it's surprising how many people mis read that stuff.

But yeah over all I do think you should stick to dans products only until you get clear

I live in the US, I would use his Moisturizer but I need the extra SPF protection that his moisturizer just does not provide. Vitamin C would also be helpful in reducing these dark spots. I think some SPF in the moisturizer would be AMAZING!

Following the regimen instructions exactly as Dan describes I feel is the most important part of having success rather than the actual products used. It sounds like you've been following your own version of the regimen for 3 months with limited success so using BP twice a day and moisturising appropriately is the way to go.

My first bit of advice to you is to lay off the AHA just for a week or so until your skin adjusts back to having BP applied to it a couple of days a week. There is nothing to stop you applying moisturiser a number of times during the day to combat dryness/flakiness. Once your skin has adjusted to BP twice per day, then start to include a little bit of AHA every few days or so mixed in with moisturiser and build up from there. Concentrate first on getting yourself clear and the red marks will fade in time.

I much prefer cetaphil cleanser and moisturiser over DK's (far more moisturising), but nothing got me clearer than DK's products, its as simple as that.

Good luck with it all, and let us know how you get on. smile.png

Cetaphil caused me whiteheads so if you're still breaking out with it i suggest you try dan's cleanser and moisturizer. also, if you have been picking on your skin please stop. It has always been my problem too but it does more harm than good. As for SPF you can try using additional spf in the morning. I mix olay complete for sensitive skin with my acne.org moisturizer. :)

The regimen does not work for everybody, no offense but I get sick of those that discount the experience of others while preaching the regimen to the point it just gets redundant. Not everyone's skin reacts to chemicals the same way, we will not all have success with the program and I also have not had much luck with it in the long run and sadly this is often ignored by many in the community.

What works for some does not work for all.

I personally prefer Purpose over Cetaphil, Dan's wash, I've used but its not worth the hassle of ordering online for me when Purpose works just as good and I can buy it locally without wait.

So I've gone back on the twice a day BP and my skin is getting so much better. I was following the regimen very closely, just using different products. I believe the Cetaphil moisturizer is not for me. I was breaking out with whiteheads just to much. Now I do have to say, this naked bee moisturizer I have started using is INSANELY AWESOME! My skin tone is improving, no breakouts in 3 days and my dark spots are literally disappearing. The vitamin C is working wonders on my skin. After this tube runs out I will purchase Dan's cleanser and moisturizer. Then I will have all 3 of Dan's products. It actually is not possible to reapply moisturizer throughout the day, I've got school and I can't be asked why I have, as teenagers would say, mounds of white sperm on my face . While my skin is absorbing the moisturizer. So that's all for now! Thanks for the reaponses guys I really appreciate it!

I also understand that switching products so much as I do is not very good, but I'm just trying to find out what works for me. In dans moisturizer I would like to see SPF and Vitamin C, since it doesn't have either of those items, how can I add them to Dan's moisturizer.

I know the feeling of flaky dry reptilian skin, even though following Dans each step of the way will help! :) I hopefully as well will get cleared.

So, I've been on the 2x a day with the BP again and just received another 16oz of the BP in the mail.

My skin looks 100% better than those pictures above, but my face totally feels horrible, Even with extra moisturizing throughout the day, my skin just feels like it is pounding/pumping. I'm going to stop the BP just for a few days so I can "reclaim" the feeling of normal skin, then move back to a VERY small amount of BP.

My skin may look extremely clear, but when I move my face around, I start flaking and stinging. Then my face just looks like a desert. So, that's whats up. :P

Your 16 mate, when I was your age mate nothing cleared up my acne, infact the more stuff I put on it the worse it got.

In the end I went on accutane, I wish I had of done it from the very start however, the side effects for me were harsh, I still have achy joints to this day...oh and my acne cam back 10 years later

My personal experience with acne is if your face is inflamed red or if you have pustules or cystic acne BP will probably not work. In fact it is probably making your acne worse. I know this from personal experience I used to use 10% benzoyl and I was determined it was working, but all it did was dry my face out so much and irritated it it made my face produce MORE oil. Acne products are very harsh , but I have been using 2% salicylic acid green tea wash from St. Ives. It is literally so gentle , but reduces redness from the green tea leaves. It is FRAGRANCE and PARABEN free which is very important for acne sufferers.

Thanks for the response guys, I've decided to tone down the chemical and return to only doing PB at night and maybe a VERY small amount in the morning, between discoloration, flaking and peeling This 2x a day just won't wok.

So, I took 3 days off the DKR just so my skin would rejuvinate to its origional feeling. I immediately started breaking out as soon as I went off the regimin. So I'm now going to start again. I'm only using BP the size of 2 peas just to start off, just to remain gentle with my skin. I am also going to add a small amount of AHA to my moisturizer to combat the flaking. HERE WE GO AGAIN! :)

So, I've been using a small amount of BP but have been experiencing very extreme breakouts. I'll up my BP a bit more because so far my skin has been handling it just fine. (no flaking, redness, or reptilian feeling) I'll put it on here periodically without this thread becoming a personal log.

I was just reading up on accutane to see if it was for me but I am absolutely sure that I don't want to risk the side effects. I've got everything going for me right now and my only real problem in life is my acne.

Before BED,

Maybe you should try this:

Wash face with gentle cleanser or something fragrance free ( I use a neutral soap) Make a really good lather and wash my face for about 15 seconds.

Next dry gently with a white cotton shirt or something similar to that (Towels irritate my face for some reason)

Next apply a thick layer of BP around your problem areas. And I mean thick like line it up from the bottom of your index finger to the top and spread it gently on one cheek. Then do the same to the other cheek. Same for your chin or forehead if acne prone. Just don't put it on the clear spots on your face.

When you wake up in the morning:

Rinse off BP in the shower or Sink, Wash with gentle cleanser or neutral soap and put on a Gentle Lotion. And I mean gentle like meant for the face and fragrance free.

Try this for a whole week and your acne should be going down. Don't overwash your face or put too much products. If you try it let me know how it goes. Im telling you this since im on day 3 of doing this myself after getting really bad breakouts on my cheeks again. confused.gif Things are looking better. Though. Good luck!!

Theres a post below yours on the message boards called Before and After (BP only nightly) check it out kind of reminded me of what I just told you!! :D
