Day 4: Extreme Dryness And Flaking

I started The Regimen about 3 days ago and have applied the whole process (cleanser + BP + moisturizer) 6 times. The first 3 i was delighted because everyone said it would burn but it didn't. Then it started to burn a bit more and my eyes would sting even though I never applied near my eyes. This morning, and I have medium skin not oily or dry, i woke up with my face SO dry that I could even open my mouth without flaking all around. It hurt and was so uncomfortable. I searched into this a bit more and that this is normal. But even with all this moisturizer AND jojoba oil, it's still so dry and flaky. I'm very insecure about my skin as I'm the only girl in my grade with bad skin (wish i was joking) and I always cover up with foundation. Now I have no idea what to do. I really want to continue but I don't know if I can be in school with acne covered skin and no makeup. What did you all do for makeup? And the dryness? it's unbearable.

If your eyes sting after you apply the bp go sit infront of a fan or apply while sitting infront of the fan. Even if you don't apply bp anywhere around your eyes the fume can burn your eyes.

You're starting too fast. For the first week, you should only apply half a pump of BP once a day. Or, if that's too much for your skin, use even less; everybody is different. Build up more slowly. Dryness and flaking are to be expected, but if it hurts or burns, that's an indication that you're using too much, it's definitely not normal. Make sure to give the BP enough time to absorb before applying moisturizer (the moisturizer may spread unabsorbed BP to other areas, like near your eyes). Unfortunately, I don't have any makeup advice, but you could have a look at the Cosmetics & style forum.

You are starting too fast! Only apply a pea-sized amount ONCE a day, and after 7 days start applying it 2x a day, and then start upping the dosage.

Try to get through the dryness by lowering your dosage of BP and don't forget to apply a good amount of moisturizer.

Keep all products away from the eye area!

Good luck!:)

thank you! i had a feeling it was that. Should i wait a day before restarting with a smaller amount or should I just get straight back to it?

I would wait a day just to be safe! Jojoba oil is your new best friend

And by the way, today I wore NO face makeup at school (first time in like 3 years!) and it felt amazing.

At first I was nervous and self-concious because I thought people would notice my acne.

But I soon forgot about it! My face felt so fresh!

If you still want to apply makeup, use clean hands/brushes and apply gently.

Try to put on less and less each day, and switch to a tinted moisturizer instead of a foundation.

Or, just use some concealer on any blemishes and be done!
