By using DK's Regimen, I'm finally clear after three and a half years of bad acne! I am a 45 year old African-American female. After stopping birth control pills, my skin exploded with horrible cystic acne, along with pustules and papules.

Like most people visiting this site, I've tried almost every over the counter product available including Proactiv & Carley's. I even tried The Regimen, but I didn't follow the intructions properly and gave up quickly because of the dryness and fear over articles I had read stating that BP was not good for African-American skin.

After a year and a half with no noticeable results from OTC products, I went to see a dermatologist. I was prescribed antibiotics and Retin-A which I was on for over a year, still with unsatisfactory results. The cysts kept coming and my face was a mess. I began to feel very depressed and I didn't want to leave my home. My dermatogolgist and gynecologist ran hormone tests to try to get to the root cause of the acne. All my tests came back normal and I continued to break out week after week.

One day, while cleaning out all the old products I still had in my bathroom cabinet, I came across some leftover treatment I had from DK's Regimen and decided to give it another shot. I visited acne.org and read the instructions again and I read many testimonials of others who got clear and it was stressed over and over again to follow the instructions precisely and give the Regimen time to work. I had given up too quickly before, but I started it again with a determination to give it a minimum of three months to work for me. Today....after seven months of being on The Regimen I am completely clear!! I am so delighted! I still have many acne scars, but with regular use of Dan's AHA, they are fading. I may get a very small pimple every now and then, but the AHA clears it up in about a day or two. I'm getting my confidence back and I just want to encourage anyone suffering from acne that's not responding to other products to give The Regimen a try, but please, please, start off following the instructions precisely. Over time I ended up tweaking it to suit my skin's needs, but the basic steps are the same. I use the Regimen as follows:

MORNING: Gently wash 10 seconds with CeraVe Moisturizing Cleanser (this cleanser is superb for battling the dryness and flakiness of BP - especially in older skin - the consistency is kind of weird - feels like lotion, but really works great and does not break me out.); wait 5 - 10 minutes and moisturize with CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion (YES, I moisturize BEFORE applying BP) this really helped with the flakiness for me as well; wait about 15 minutes and apply DK's Treatment. (You MUST work your way up to the full amount and apply very gently as Dan describes in his tutorial. I cannot stress enough how important it is to be extremely gentle with your skin in all of the steps. (I got rid of all my facial scrubs, brushes and anything abraisive and just stuck to the steps described above).

NIGHT: Gently wash 10 seconds with CeraVE Moisturizing Cleanser. Wait 5 - 10 minutes and moisturize with CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion, wait 10 minutes and apply Dan's AHA+.

It took close to 6 months to get completely clear because as you can see, I do not use the treatment at night. I started off using it, but my skin was just too dry and flaky and jojoba oil breaks me out, so I cut down to using the treatment morning only (this is what worked for me - others have different experiences).

The process can be time consuming, but it is SO worth it to have clear skin!! Thank you Dan Kern for sharing your Regimen with us and creating such great products.
