I believe it's true. I was on BP for over 5 years and I slowly began noticing some major premature aging in my skin. I was still under 30 and take excellent care of my body so this seemed very troubling to me. The fact is, you can't coat your skin in a harsh drying chemical every day of your life and not do serious damage. Probably more damage than the sun, if you ask me. The sun is good for your health in moderation. BP isn't good for your health at all.
Not only that, but now that I'm trying to come off BP, my skin doesn't know how to fight off infections. I've spent the past year trying to restore the damage of what BP did to my skin. It's terrible. Id advise everyone NOT to use BP!
That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Thankfully for you, it's definitely not true. Being sunburned is A BURN, and benzoyl peroxide is a BLEACHING and PEELING agent. They're completely different things. Getting sunburned is burning your skin, BP is renewing the skin's layers faster, which may make it red, which could be MISTAKEN for a sunburn. However, just because they're not the same thing doesn't mean benzoyl peroxide can't be dangerous. It can, for some people, and if used wrong.
However, BP does make you more susceptible to sunburns, you are definitely more likely to GET sunburned while using benzoyl peroxide because bp strips your skin's defenses. This is why it is important to use an SPF.
Bp doesn't work for everyone, but just because it doesn't work for you DOESN'T mean anyone who applies BP is long term damaging themselves. It's not true,
Its better to do your research about BP using scientific journal entries rather than googling it and reading blog style entries such as what you've quoted. Any statements ending in "nice huh?" have to be taken with a pinch of salt unless they are backed up with scientific data rather than 'opinion'.
