After 4 months, I found out that the unjustified introduction of niacinamide by acne.org in the moisturizer caused me a condition called "bacterial folliculitis", which I will now most likely have to treat with antibiotic creams, after a dermatologic visit.
It all started when I applied the new acne.org moisturizer on April, which gave me a terrible purging with 1520 pustules a day on my chin and under my nose.
Since then, niacinamide has altered my skin microbioma, and now I have to face this new conditions drastically.
And let me tell you more:
niacinamide is a very low-cost ingredient for the manufacturer
licochalcone is now proprietary to Eucerin, which most likely makes it more expensive and proprietary
These are the unofficial reasons for the moisturizer change, all the rest (supplements, stress, lifestyle and other stuffs, and science-based evidence by chatgpt articles 🤦🤦🤦) is absolutely just non-sense.
Don't fall for it.
In the past, I was more reserved when I received a call from Dan telling me that his products werent to blame for this and that reason.
Now, I am 110% sure, clinically proven, about the damage caused.
Moreover, I have dozens of reviews about niacinamide's bad behaviour.
Tip: NEVER introduce a new ingredient without first testing it thoroughly on a very small patch of skin, and NEVER break a routine that just works.
When peoples health is at stake, we enter a territory where I truly get angry.
I hope this serves everyone who is suffering, I wouldnt want anyone else to fall into my same problem.
I am absolutely sure that acne.org will NEVER be the same, serious brad that used to be decades ago, so:
Goodbye forever, acne.org.
No, it is not clinically proven. It's just yourownanecdotal evidence. And while some people reacttooNiacinimide, themajority of people don't, which is why more products across several brands arebeingreformulated with it - it worksreally well for the vast majority of users.
You are correct though that you should start with a patch test and if you do find you are not sensitive to it, there are many products on the market that you can select from that do not contain it.
All products need to evolve, a company cannot stay with the same forumula in an every growing market. Research is continuously being done to find better and effective products. A company cannot make a product that works for every single individual, that is why you are free to find products that work best for you.
Saying acne.org will never be the same is a poor argument. Just because it does not work for you doesn't meant doesn't work by the vast majority of users. Many people, myself included, have noticed better, improved results with the formula changes. I would never discourage others from using a product with Niacinimide until they try it for themselves.
So, it is not the end of story, maybe just for you. You are better off putting effort into finding something that works for you instead of fear mongering on forums trying to dissuade a new user from finding a product that works for them. Let them try it and decide for themselves - it will most likely work amazing for them.
