So I've started using the Regimen in late July and it is now mid September. I really don't understand what's going on with my face, but I need extereme help! So the first pictures show how I looked before using the regimen and how I look now. My face is getting nothing but worse and I don't understand why? I just started to add the Jojaba oil and AHA into my routine and I hope it helps. My face is extremely dry and has a lot of big dark areas on it. I do pick at my skin to try to rub off the very dark flaky skin that seems like it will never go away i don't know if that could be a problem but I need answers please!
I'd recommend seeing a derm at this point for professional advice if your skin is getting worse and not better. They may recommend adding on a course of antibiotics, which may help calm things down to the point where you can take over with the topicals for maintenance. BTW,it's not at all abnormal for people to experience worse skin for several weeks, depending on how much latent acne they have deep below the surface. Purging is a reality for many people, can last awhile, and can come and go in stages.
BTW I assume you're doing the Regimen religiously and as directed...no short cuts, no added or subtracted products/steps, etc. All these things can affect your results.
Hang in there and don't give up!

Well just about maybe last week and the week before that I decided to add in a charcoal face mask as well as washing my face with noxzema to see if that would help get rid of some of the acne but I think it actually made it worse. So, this week I decided to just strictly follow the regimen and I have slowly seen progress. Should I continue with the regimen for a few more months? Also, can I use the AHA with active acne? Or does it have to be completely gone to add in my routine?

Adding extra non-Acne.Org products/steps before you're clear is not recommended, and if you're acne-prone, you should only stick with products that are derm-recommended and non-comedogenic. I'll bet both of those products contain pore-clogging ingredients. Plus, touching/rubbing your face too much by adding in extra steps can cause excess irritation, which can worsen breakouts. Once you're clear, you can experiment with adding extra products/steps to tailor the Regimen to your specific skin needs, but only one product/step at a time, so if something breaks you out, you'll know why and can stop before things get out of hand.
Acne.Org AHA+...I'd also hold off on this for a bit, at least until you get things moving in the right direction. It's main function is fading red marks, and you're not there yet. First thing's first, clearing up some of your acne. But you don't have to be 100% clear to start incorporating, and it may even help kick any remaining acne to the curb. This and jojoba oil are OK to use on the Regimen, even with active acne.
But consider seeing a derm. A course of antibiotics can work wonders, and sometimes a dual approach is needed for very stubborn, persistent acne. At least it was for my son. I was able to clear up with the Regimen alone, but he really needed to tackle things from both ends. The Regimen is keeping him clear now, but took almost 5 months to finally see results.
