Teens and adults suffering from acne all over the world love Benzoyl peroxide for clearing up their acne. It is a very popular ingredient in most OTC acne products, and there's a reason why.

Benzoyl Peroxide oxygenates the skin's pores, making it impossible for acne bacteria to survive. In order to do this, Benzoyl peroxide renews the layers of the skin much faster, making you much more suitable to sunburns. In the first couple weeks of use, skin will be red, itchy, dry and irritated. Side effects vary depending on the individual.

Though it is very popular, many people wonder about the dangers of it. Can it cause skin cancer? Is it bad for your skin? Well, here's my answer (I am far from a professional) If used properly, benzoyl peroxide is amazing. If used improperly, not so amazing. First of all, sun damage can cause skin cancer. Benzoyl peroxide makes your skin more vulnerable to the suns' rays, and if you don't use sunscreen, you are obviously increasing your risk of skin cancer. Keep in mind benzoyl peroxide IS a chemical, and should be complimented with soothing, healing products. Never buy a face wash containing benzoyl peroxide. You should wash your face with cleanser, not more chemicals. The only thing you want containing benzoyl peroxide is JUST benzoyl peroxide, plain and simple. That's why I love acne.org's BP. It does the job without any mysterious ingredients. When using benzoyl peroxide, use sparingly. While some with more severe acne can handle a lot, if you have light acne you don't need to use a lot.

I really hope this helped those of you that had questions.
