Over the years it has been a constant struggle trying to figure out which foods (if they even do at all) affect my skin. Here is a list of foods I am pretty sure have some sort of effect on my skin. 1. fruits, definitely bananas, strawberries, raspberries, kiwi, oranges. apples seem to not have much of an effect. 2. milk chocolate. I can eat sugary treats in moderation without much effect unless it is chocolate. 3. greasy food, mostly greasy burgers. What is weird is fried chicken in moderation doesn't affect much and red meat like a grilled steak is fine too so it's not red meat. That is pretty much the main trigger foods with fruit of all things having the most dramatic effect??? I've never been told I was allergic to them and i don't think it's the sugar in them because I can have sugary snacks and it doesn't cause the same effect as fruits.
Also another funny note, I went dairy and gluten free and even paleo at one point and my acne was the worst it has ever been on those diets. The best diet for me tends to be a balance of carbs, fats, and protein, avoiding fruit, chocolate, and too much greasy food. Meals I typically eat are a cup of oatmeal for breakfast with coconut oil, and turkey bacon. Lunch, a sub sandwich with a salad or soup. Dinner, grilled chicken, beans, vegetables, a yeast roll and a potato.
Acne has been a frustrating journey. Not really sure what the point of this post is. Maybe it will help someone, because it took me a long time to figure out what type of foods work with me!!!
