Hello everyone,
this was the worst week ever! Last thursday (7/7/2016) I took milk thistle 270mg/daily for only 3 days. 2 days later I got a big deep cyst every day. I am crying the whole day because I did 6! Vbeam sessions to get rid of old red acne marks and now my face looks terrible again... I googled if there is a connection between milk thistle and acne. I found a post of a woman who had the same problem and suffered over years from the detoxing effect of milk thistle. She still got these cysts although she was not taking the milk thistle anymore. I am so afraid that this will happen to me too I dont know what to do now... Has anyone here had a similar problem before? Will I really suffer from the liver detox severeal months or years? I will be thankful for every answer
I've never really heard of anyone reacting to milk thistle in that way, but if it's the only thing that you have introduced into your diet since you started breaking out, it is definitely reasonable to assume that it is the culprit.
First things first, I'd recommend stopping the use of milk thistle (which I bet you've already done :P). Next, just try your best to manage your breakout through the use of whatever products you may like (I can make suggestions if you want me to). Finally, drink plenty of water in order to flush your body out of whatever may be aggravating your system and causing you to break out.
Another thing I want to suggest is supplement on Zinc Gluconate (25mg would be good). Zinc Gluconate is great at helping clear up acne, and could help expedite the process of you clearing up again. Hope this helps and good luck !

The best way to support the organs that detoxify the body, and their respected processes, experts say, is eating a healthy diet, getting an average of 30 minutes of exercise a day, getting plenty of rest at night, and drinking enough water to stay hydrated. But as with all things, too much of a good thing can be bad.
It's important to keep in mind that acne isn't something that just suddenly occurs. It spends days under the skins surface before making an appearance. Detoxing the liver will increase your skin cell turnover rate, pushing this inflammation to the surface of the skin more quickly. It's not something to be concerned about. It's anecessary part of the process and is a sign that the detox is working.
I've detoxed with a whole host of herbs. Burdock root, red clover, slippery elm bark, white willow bark (anti-inflammatory), licorice root, marshmallow root, green/white/rooibos tea, sheep sorrell, turmeric(anti-inflammatory), ginger root, sasparilla, black pepper, etc. All of these I brewed into a tea btw. And yeah it's going to purge your skin, but like Fraz_2010 has stated it's a neccesary part of the process.
I have done activated charcoal detoxing and i open up roughly 16 capsules and put them into alkaline water and shake it up and chug it in the evening. This will definitely bring stuff to it's head in my experience, and not just white heads or cysts, but those little hardened balls even surface to the point where you can simply rub them off. It's a great sign that it's working. I personally did this in the evenings so as not to interfere with vitamin absorption during the day. I found it most effective by pulling apart the capsules and pouring the charcoal into the water directly and shaking it up. This is GREAT for acid reflux as well.
Any type of detox, in my own personal experience, has brought things to the surface, some things that I didn't even know were in the works. My advice, and this has been backed up by numerous other veterans on this site is: Stick with the detox, allow your skin to purge, and (stop using topicals). That last one was my own personal advice, but if you're hell bent on using them that is your call.
