So. Fig bars are this vegan snack thing, that doesn't have any dairy. My mom bought some knockoff ones from the bulk bins of a local supermarket, and I ate two before asking her for the ingredients... She showed me the picture she took. Whey was there, right after salt. Milk and dairy makes my skin crazy, and I finally calmed it down going dairy free. I've heard whey is TERRIBLE for acne, and I'm really scared. I still have terrible PIH and my last zit left some flakey skin. I don't want another one.
I usually only have maximum of 2 pimples at a time, but they are huge. I googled "huge pimple", and the results made me laugh. Mine are thumbnail sized.
Will I be breaking out? What should I do to prevent it?

Not necessarily. Don't freak out, stress is bad for your skin. I find I can get away with small amounts of dairy like as an ingredient in other pridfpridfucts, but not milk or cream . One little slip up might not affect you I've read it'd more about the state of your skin and how constantly you're exposed to inflammation.
Another idea, I think skin reactions to dairy and food aren't really acne but more like allergic hives. So maybe try benedryl or antihistamine cream.

Just be careful. I always make sure to read the ingredients on everything before i eat it, to make sure theres no dairy. Not to mention its super bad for your health not just your acne.

yeah. I had constant coughing at night for years and when I stopped dairy it went away.
Even " non dairy creamers" have casein which is dairy!

Not necessarily. True, people can be allergic to dairy and get hives, but too much or too little calcium in the diet can trigger a hormonal response, which in turn can trigger acne. Calcium is deeply connected with our bodies' hormonal responses, making it one of the most important substance we need to function, and also very easily thrown out of balance when people go overboard one direction or another with elimination diets or consuming too many supplements. While some people seem to fare better skinwise by avoiding dairy, it's still important to get an adequate amount of calcium from another nondairy source.

OP: Yeah I don't think whey in a fig bar is much cause for worry unless you're truly allergic to dairy.

Haha I'll bet he loves you too!! ;) Sardines are great, chock-full of yummy omega 3's!! Try'em with a little lemon EVOO...improves the fishy taste! |::) I eat them everyday!
