Clear for a while, then 5 spots! Was it these foods?

I was feeling so good because my skin hadn't been breaking out for like two weeks. I went to a carnival and walked around feeling normal...the next day I had 5new spots, the kind I usually get from dairy.
The foods I had that I suspect were
Eggplant( baked not fried, no cheese)
Funnel cake with caramel sauce(deep fried)
Gummi vitamins for hair and nails, the reason I suspect them is because I'd run out and haven't had them in a whole, once I got them again it correlated to the time I broke out.
So disappointed :/

Eggplant seems to be a bad food for me too! I've often felt sick after eating it too. Since cutting out nightshades my skin has been clear (also cut out coffee - I just wrote a post on it!) :)

Thanks for responding!
Tomatoes, potatoes epplant and tobacco are nightshades right...anything else?
I am always going back and forth on coffee maybe time to just cut it out for a few weeks. That will be hard.

Jalapenos and chilis. I will reintroduce them at some point in the future and see if I can handle them :) So happy with perfectly clear skin at the moment. I notice that spicy foods (which I love) cause me digestive issues, leading to skin troubles.

I didn't think I'd be able to cut out my morning coffee, as I loved it so much, but swapping it for a green smoothie gave me 10x as much energy (but in a good way). No fuzzy head, or crashes throughout the day either. I had a horrendous headache at the end of day 1 (had to lie down), but once that went I felt amazing!

1. Eggplant: Exceptionally high in histamine
2. Funnel cake with caramel sauce: Sugar, sugar, sugar. Plus, that caramel sauce was made with plenty of heavy cream, condensed milk, salted butter, and possibly additional milk solids as a thickener.
3. Gummi vitamins: The Biotin and isolated B5 in hair and nail vitamins are infamous for causing nasty breakouts. Never take B vitamins in isolation---they should only ever be be taken together (as a complex B-vitamin supplement) or not at all.

I'm sorry, I know how disappointing it is having to start again from scratch :smileys_n_people_15:. Happens to me at least once a month. Has the situation improved?

hi, yes I had a naughty cheat day...my skin is pretty clear except for 2 spots a small one on my cheekbone and one red one on my cheek. I'm pretty sure I know what's caused it.
Thanks, I did remember hearing a certain vitamin can cause breakouts. The rest of my skin is looking pretty good. I just really have to watch my diet.
I have pretty bad allergies and I suspect I'm sensitive to histamines. I'm going to look up high histamine foods.

I have little doubt that most of us here have a histamine intolerance. I think it's just a matter of what you're willing to sacrifice and/or put up with. Honestly, eliminating all foods high in histamines on top of everything else we have to eliminate already would essentially leave us with a diet consisting of maybe 3 or 4 foods. I just try and steer clear of the worst offenders on the list (which also happen to trigger migraines for me) and occasionally use a supplement called Histamine Block for the rest. And sometimes I'm just willing to accept a breakout in exchange for guacamole or pad thai, you know?

Whats bad in pad thai, the oil? I love some pad thai...I am willing to cut put a lot of foods but I don't really know more than a few.
eggplant ( doh!)
certain cheeses, I avoid dairy anyway.
red wine, I get migraines
some meats especially canned/ processed.
Vinegar
Beer( hate it)
Avocado
Raw spinach
Peanuts
Kiwi
Plums
Figs
Bananas...maybe?
Tomatoes...I don't think they bother me.

I have allergies to mold, fungus, mildew, dust, chemicals and pets( I still have pets I take zyrtec every day. Freaking overactive immune system!)

Oh wow. Aside from pet dander, we have the exact same triggers! Also, tomatoes don't seem to bother me either for some reason (thank god). In Pad Thai, it's the fermented soy products and shellfish sauce :(. It really sucks because I can't eat any fermented foods that contribute to gut health like sauerkraut and kefir and kimchi, so I have to spend a butt-ton of money on pre/probiotic supplements. Have you ever heard of/tried Histamine Block? It DOES work, but it's insanely expensive, so I really can only afford to use it for emergencies, like if I ate a whole meal and then realized after the fact that it was cooked with butter. But it at least means I don't have to lose either 3 days to a migraine or two weeks to a breakout.
