Hi, I wanted to share how I cleaned up my skin with diet.
I had a lot of acne in high school and early in college, in fact I had the some of the worst acne in my high school with over 1000 people going there. I tried proactive and many products and nothing worked. I eventually went to a dermatologist and they suggested Accutane. It worked well and cleared up my skin but after I stopped treatment it returned. Typically 6 months to a year later. I paniced when it came back and starting doing some research online for other possible treatments. Without really finding anything I read from one guy that diet might help so I said what have a got to lose.
After 3 years of testing out different foods I finally found a regime that works great for me. (Just so you know it didn't take 3 years to clear my skin up, it gradually got better until I couldn't go any further. I have clear and healthy looking skin now with absolutely no break outs) The basics! I cut out all of the junk food I ate. I cut out fast food and restaurant food too. I went with fresh fruits, vegetables, healthy meats and basic foods that I could make myself. Basic foods are foods I like to call are without added ingredients other than seasoning which I can read and pronounce on the ingredient label.
Basic foods I eat so you understand what I gave up. I just so you know my skin looks great and so does my chest. If I deviate too much from my diet then I can break out again. I'm 29 now and I can still get acne and poor looking skin.
Naan Bread. (Any other bread and I can get acne)
All natural Chili Beans (out of the can)
Seasoned Black Beans (out of can)
Potatoes with seasoning of choice
Steak or Burgers (no antibiotics, grass fed, no hormones)
No crackers, chips, cookies of any kind
No fast food
Rarely restaurant food (Depends what they offer, something healthy)
Fresh Fruits
Fresh Vegetables
White and Brown Rice
Barley Soup
Pasta with sauce
Non-GMO Corn (if I can find any)
Tomato or Barley Soup (its a polish soup mix)
No Cereal or Oatmeal
No Nuts or Peanut Butter of any kind
And that's mostly it. I just rotate through these foods and cheat every so often. I gave up a lot but it keeps my skin clear and I would rather give up most foods to have clear skin. If I start eating some of the don't then I get chest and face acne.
I hope this helps. I really do believe that poor diet causes acne and if you want to get rid of your acne with out any skin products then maybe this will work for you. Again this isn't perfect you could experiment with your own diet.

Pinto Beans
Kidney Beans
Black Beans
Homemade Carrot Sauce
Carrots
Avocado
Sweet Potatoes
Blueberries
Peaches
Pears
Avoid all grains (To heal)
Now that I've healed a bit I rotate some light grains and cheat foods like
tortillas (soft burritos)
Bread (black n pinto bean hot dogs and burgers) Too much is a problem
Poptarts
Greek Yogurt
Organic Black Bean Chili
I find if I eat too much wheat, I gwt constipated and I'm prone to cysts. Examples: too much 100% whole wheat pasta or whole wheat pie crust
I think I have leaky gut, btw.
