If you don't want to read all the fluff and fillers then please read the "tl;dr" section.

Hi, I'm a new member to this site and a denizen of Japan. I first would like to point out that everyone is different; our physiology works differently and subtly, some people may metabolize some foods well that might engender acne for others. I had a sudden epiphany when I visited the U.S recently. Prior to visiting the U.S and living in Japan, I had clear skin, porcelain-like, I'm not boasting, I just was shocked when I took my first step on U.S soil I literally was beleaguered by cystic pimples.

When I look back I realized it was either the air or the food. I after a month of eating traditional western, American food (McDonalds), I came back to Japan. My cystic pimples that irked me for a whole month finally went away. In Japan, people usually cook their own foods especially if you live in the suburbs of Tokyo or Osaka. I cook my own food with my mother and my STRICTLY ORGANIC and NON-GMO diet consists of : an elephantine amount of vegetables, a motley of seafood, some meat, fruit, and rice. I also consume 5 cups of white and matcha tea a day. I also supplemented with Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA), N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC), Milk Thistle, Vitamin C, Reduced Glutathione, Circumin, and Astaxanthin.

The important discovery i made? Antioxidants. I read an article when I was researching the link between blood antioxidant levels and acne which stated that as antioxidant blood levels rises, the genesis of acne decreases. My perplexing causation of my acne now makes sense. Unbeknownst to me, I actually did an experiment on my skin reacting to two vastly different cultural food lifestyles. My Japanese diet regimen and supplementation is heavily laden with antioxidants: White tea, Matcha tea, Circumin, Astaxanthin, Glutathione ("Mother of all antioxidants"), vitamin C from fruits, vitamin A from vegetables, healthy fats from seafood, etc. Compared to the American diet I ate dearth of antioxidants: McDonalds and a plethora of other fast food restaurants. Also the food I ate in America undoubtedly was GMO laden and not organic. I didn't eat a single homemade food that month.

For me at least, diet, specifically a high antioxidant, organic,non-GMO diet, cured my acne. It makes sense when I think about it. Antioxidants fight free radicals and inflammation. When you describe acne what's one of the first words you think of to describe it? INFLAMMATION. This diet I realized isn't cheap in America. For some odd reason the organic food in the U.S is quite expensive ( $12 for a bag of organic oranges? Wow ) compared to where I'm from. So this regimen will surely scare away parsimonious acne sufferers. If you can though, try to stack up on antioxidants, and hopefully that will ameliorate your acne! :D

tl;dr:

- Eat organic and non-GMO food.

- Try to cook your own food yourself so you know what ingredients are actually in it.

- Eat myriads of fruits and veggies.

- Drink tea (green, white, mathca, black, ect)

- Have a high antioxidant diet.

- A paucity of antioxidants can beget acne.

- Supplementation
