lafasta,

I don't really measure, but I would guess I use maybe a 1/4 cup of epsom salts, and then just enough liquid to make it slushy - part warm water and part ACV. Like just a splash of each. Then maybe 3-4 drops of TTO. I let the salts dissolve a bit, but they never really dissolve all the way, so I make sure to sop them up onto the cotton pads. I'm thinking about making some calendula tea and using that instead of the water as it's very healing to the skin, and since the zits are just about gone, I want to start focusing on the red marks. I'll let you know how that works.

I read back in the post and it seems like you've been doing this for awhile now. Have you been doing it consistantly every night? And how is it working for you?? Just curious. I also read that it made you get a bunch of little whiteheads. I would say that's a good thing. I think it is bringing all the gunk to the surface. I've had acne for about a year now, and it started as whiteheads and they just stuck around.

lafasta,

I'm glad to hear you're getting results. I've been doing it for about two weeks now, and I don't have any zits, but lots of whiteheads. but I've always had lots of them. How long did yours take to go away?

Btw, maybe you've read it.. there is another post that says epsom salts are making their red marks disappear, so hopefully it will work for you.. and me too!

So I've been making calendula tea and dissolving the epsom salts in that and adding some manuka honey to the mix, but I've only been doing it for two days, so I can't tell if it's any better than just plain salts, tto and acv. I'll let you know.

I'm also on a three day fast of just fresh juice, herbal teas and lots of water. Hoping that will help a little too.

Any new updates on using Epsom Salts?? Sounds interesting..... are you using this in combination with BP? Or instead of?

Melly,

Not using bp at all. I tried it for about two weeks and ended up with skin as dry and thin and wrinkly as an old woman. The epsom salts are working well. I've been doing them for about two weeks now I think. I've gotten one zit, though it wasn't really a new one, it was a old one that has been under the surface forever and it finally came to a head today. Other than that, lots of whiteheads, but I had those before I started the epsom salts. It's worth a try .. epsom salts are cheap. I'm going to keep on doing it as I'm actually seeing results. If I get the whiteheads removed, I'll be acne-free except for red-marks, but I've seen in another post, someone had luck with epsom salts fading those too.

CJB, sorry the BP didn't work for you. I had red itchy skin for about 10 days, and then it was just a miracle. Definitely worth the 10 icky days. I have been doing this for 2 years, and I only use moisturizer around my eyes (I'm 38), so it doesn't dry my skin out. Reading out here lets us all know that everyone's skin is different! I am trying the lemon juice and vinegar, along with baking soda, to see if I can improve the overall texture of my face now. I will let y'all know if it makes a difference. Good luck to YOU!

Hi guys,

I have been following up on this thread and I'm not sure what to think towards

the end of this.

Is it worth doing this or will this only make my skin worse over time ?

(From what I have read some people say its good for a week then they break out like crazy, others however do not ...) ?

Wouldn't logically the epsom salt BLOCK the pores ? (Since its crystalizes).

AND !@# is it enough JUST to do in the evening:

1) Wash face with say soap

2) Mix EPSOM SALT + WATER + VINEGAR + TEA TREE OIL and stick onto face for whole night.

?

Or do I need to separately clean my face ONLY with WATER+VINEGAR ?

See how I cleared my acne on the board under the title BP FREE ACID FREE SKIN CARE - ZIT FREE. I tell my whole routine. Maybe it can help someone. Never scrub, apply heat or over stimulalte your face. It will cause a vicious acne cycle where the oil glands produce more oil and sebum to compensate. Be kind to your skin. It is sensitive treat it like fine silk. That's the best way. SHAZ AKA SLIM

I'm not sure what everyone else is doing. But here is my routine, and I've been doing it for about three weeks now, with no breakouts.

At night, I make the epsom salt solution. I think the salts are the important part, but here are the extra things I put in there. I make calendula tea (just because I have a lot of dried calendula from my garden and it is soothing/healing to the skin so why not). I dissolve LOTS of epsom salts in that and add a little manuka honey, a splash of ACV and just a couple drops of TTO. I used to do the poultice thing, but lately I just take a cotton ball and rub the solution all over my face, and let it dry. I think it works just as well, if not better. The cotton pads seem to just absorb the salts and you can't move your face muscles for like an hour! I sleep with the solution on (you will get salty sheets). Also, before I put the solution on, I rub either emu oil or aloe on my face for a moisturizer, to guard against the drying effect the TTO might have.

In the morning, I rinse it off, apply jojoba oil or a little aloe. Wait 10 min. or so. Wet a cotton pad and put a little ACV on it and rub it on your face. With a q-tip, apply TTO to any active zits.

Like I said, no breakouts yet. But I had a LOT of little whiteheads and those are slowly but surely coming to the surface. A couple of days ago, I went and had a bunch of them extracted, so that helped too.

And no, I don't think the epsom salts clog your pores. I'm not having the overnight success of ukochana and deville (wish they'd give us an update), but it is helping. Cheap and worth a try.

I'm pretty sure hormones are the culprit of my acne. I'm 26 and only got it a year ago. I also got it DESPITE a vegan organic diet and drinking lots of water. BUT that isn't to say, I don't think a healthy diet can't help. Even if it doesn't help your acne, it will help the rest of your body. I still eat healthy --LOTS of vegetables. I also take a B complex and a hair, skin and nails supplement which has zinc and lots of other herbs which are beneficial to the skin.

Just curious - you sound similar to me.

This is a bit of a personal question, but do you have regular sex ? (not masterbation, a partner).

If it is hormone-related I would think that it would be related to this - though

I could be wrong ?

Someone,

I have a partner, and we've been together six years. Why do you think how much sex you have would have anything to do with it?

Hello Everyone,

Well, I just thought I'd update, cause I havn't done so in a while. Overall, my skin has cleared up wonderfully. Right now I have about two whiteheads on my nose(which are getting annhiliated tonight when I go through my cleansing routine!!), and a very small pustule that I got this morning. This to me is wonderful because I used to have 5-10 active zits before I started my regimen.

My red marks have faded, and the only bad news is that I'm left with about 10 enlarged pores on my cheeks (which I can live with), and a rolling scar from a deep cyst on my cheek. I really don't mind these remnants of the battle that I've waged with acne...I actually thought that it would be much worse, seeing that some of the acne on my cheeks was very deep. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones, and my skin is pretty resilient to inflammation.

I've read some of the posts where people have not had much luck, and started breaking out...but I have to stress, that epsom salts was only one small part of a combination of things which has cleared me. The most important for me is exfoliation - for which I use either epsom salts/baking soda or a wash cloth, next is ph balancing for which I rinse with a vinegar+water solution, and finally I disinfect with either tea tree oil (mixed with Living nature toning gel), or manuka oil (living nature manuka honey & oil gel). I also use face masks a lot - my favorite is egg white as it's quick and easy to do. When I have more time / somewhere important to go, I mix an egg yolk with a boiled potato and leave it on for about an hour...oh man, the GLOW that one gets from that mask, plus it takes away all inflammation, it's great but a bit too time consuming for everyday use (one MUST take a shower to get this thick mask off).

Anyhow, I wish everyone luck with their skin, and the next time I update, I hope to be totally clear:)

Deville,

Thanks for the update. Your success was what motivated me to try this in the first place. That, and I already had all the ingredients. Keep us posted on your progress.

Good luck.

Carrie

I am on day three with the epsom salts, baking soda and vinegar. My skin is actually a bit more broken out, but I always expect that when I change my routine. It really seems that the little zits I had that you couldn't see are now showing, so maybe they will just come on out and go away. I'll keep y'all posted too.

Who else is trying this?

I am about to do my first egg mask!

PS - I am still using Dan's Regimen (Basis Soap + BP + moisturizer), as that's always worked for me, and I don't want to chance giving that up!

Hey guys smile.gif

Really nice of you all to share your experiences!

Was wondering if anyone has noticed a significant reduction in blackheads whilst on this regime?

TIA! smile.gif

I did an internet search on this and found it strange that the majority of websites that came up were *equestrian*. Weird! Very little acne info, but mostly people talking about fixing their horse's legs.

Anyway, I put an epsom salt poultice on my cyst last night, after using hot water on it for 10 minutes, and this morning it has the smallest indication of a whitehead in the center.

I soaked cotton in the solution (it was encrusted with salt) and then taped a bandaid over it.

I woke up in the middle of the night and it felt far too dry, so I took it off (didn't rinse) and put some antibiotic ointment and a new bandaid over it.

It has definitely gotten flatter and less red since yesterday, and it is coming to a head. I am also using cleocin and bactronban, but it was the salt that did this.

I don't think I would ever scrub my skin with epsom salt (I just don't *scrub* in general) but using this as a poultice is definitely a great home remedy!!

I'm also using Bragg apple cider vinegar (but you have to buy it in the health food store, the kind with "the mother" in it - I don't use the cheap kind off the shelf from a grocery store) in a 9:1 ratio of water:vinegar to restore my facial pH.

I was really irritated with this zit on my cheek since my skin is *almost* clear. Now I feel hopeful that it will be gone by New Years. Thank you for posting this info!

Well, my skin has gotten worse while trying this, so I am going back to the strict regimen. No more scrubs, epsom salts, etc. I *am* going to continue with the lemon water and vinegar rinse when my face is feeling too itchy. Seems to have done me proud so far. Good luck to you all!

I might try it but, spot treat it. I do have tiny zits but is no big deal. I think this is a good method to get rid of the big pimples. As for myself the redness of the pimples leave behind doesn't bother me. But, as long as I get rid of the cyst quickly is all good.

Anyways, I'm doing the water only washing routine. I'm afraid of putting stuff on my face. But, I will use it for the active pimples. Thanks for the post.

i was so desperate yesterday. My eyes are red and look awful from blubbering all day. I took accutane two years ago and am living with the scars that wete left behind, no cysts tho. This week however they seem to be back despite my organic, vegan, no saturated fat, processed food and low sugar diet....which takes alot of thinking about. i was encourgaed by this thread and i had a tub of baking soda in the cupboard. well the hell, i wacked some on in a poultace last night on the mother of a cyst that has swolln my cheek up to huge proportions.

the result.....sweeling almost completely gone! just a large red mark left. progress! eusa_dance.gif shopping no for the other stuff recommended!

i'm new to this site, i think i have been burying my head in the sand! thanks everyone.
