Cod Liver Oil

Hey Folks,

So I was reading a lot about the benefits of cod liver oil online and decided to buy some. I just received a bottle of Blue Ice Royal Butter Oil/ Fermented Cod Liver Oil in the mail yesterday, and I've begun taking 3 capsules (non-gelatin whatever that means) a day. I will continue to post my results here in the next few weeks to let anyone who is interested know. I have mild to moderate acne, mainly on the chin and jawline, which means it's probably hormonal? I also decided to start taking vitamin c and e every day, as well as Brewer's yeast, after reading an interesting article online. Obviously I am desperate at this point for a miracle.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with cod liver oil, though, and if you've found success? Is 3 capsules a day good amount to take? Because I've seen some articles online that say to take as many as 6-8 capsules a day, but I feel that might be too much. Also, the product says it contains "milk", I guess since there is some butter oil in it, but I've read a lot about the negative effect of milk on acne. Does anyone know if it is a significant enough amount to be concerned about?

Thanks and God Bless!!

I've taken 2 whole bottles but it never cleared my acne.

I've started to wonder if the vitamin A from cod liver oil might have been inhibiting vit D from working.

Someone said that places that consume high cod liver oil have a higher rate of fractures --- the vit A blocking the receptor that vid D needs

I've recently been taking exactly what you're taking but in the gel form because I heard the gel was more potent. Nothing yet but it's an all around good supplement regardless of results. I have severe cystic acne on my forehead and cheeks.

How many are you taking a day?

Best just take vitamin A. At 64 bucks a bottle you can get your A cheaper in many ways.

You need preferably the fat soluble vitamins together for them to work efficiently: A, D, E, K. Zinc also seems to help along side A and D. Can't remember where i read it tho..

I'm taking 1\2 tsp twice a day. I just take it right off the spoon no problem. I'll report how it goes.

I take the same brand of FCLO. This didn't necessarily cure my acne, but I know it contributed to an extent. FCLO contains vitamin A, vitamin D, EFAs, and a host of other minerals, so it's quite a supplement. Don't be discouraged if it doesn't cure your acne, I hear that its cured acne for some people.

I took the chocolate one by spoon. Made my skin nice, but no change in acne, maybe made it worse, probably because of the chocolate.

The cod liver oil I'm taking, with the butter oil, says it contains Milk. This is probably a very tiny amount, but I know us acne sufferers are not supposed to consume dairy, so does anyone think I should stay away from this kind and just go with the regular fermented cod liver oil?

Also, how bad do you think your acne needs to be before a doctor will consider you for Accutane. My acne is really only on my jawline, but I feel like if its in one sport than it might as well be everywhere, because it stills looks horrible

I've tried it alone and with the butter oil. the butter oil makes me break out, the cod liver oil doesn't do shit for acne. probably not enough vit A in each dose. you need a high dose vit A to dry up pores.
