Anyone Else Get Raised Itchy Spots After Eating A Significant (> 60G) Amount Of Carbs?

I'm wondering if anyone else gets raised, itchy spots on face first, then back and chest after eating > 60g of carbs. It doesn't seem to matter which carbs either. But thing with a low glycemic load causes fewer raised spots than one with a higher glycemic load.

These raised, itchy spots can turn into painful cystic-like acne if I eat too many carbs for too many days in a row.

I've limited my carbs per meal pretty heavily and my acne is pretty much negligible right now but i'd really like to not control my diet so heavily.

If anyone has any idea what this could be, it'd be very helpful.

It is NOT allergies. I got tested and I'm not allergic to anything.

On another note, does anyone get whitehead-like spot after eating a lot of salt? They aren't usually painful but just hang around looking small and white.

Yep. I have the exact same thing. After consuming a high amount of carbs I can feel my skin start to itch and within 30 minutes to an hour cysts will start to form there every time. When eating foods with low glycemic loads, my skin will never breakout. Changing my diet worked 10x better than any antibiotics, creams or accutane ever did.

As far as wanting to be more free with your diet, I personally haven't had much luck. If it has a high glycemic load, I pretty much breakout every time. I have heard of people taking Glucomannan with their meals that are high in carbs. It supposedly slows down the digestion/conversion of the carbs into sugar, so you don't get a massive insulin spike. I got a bottle of the stuff a few weeks ago, but I haven't concluded that it actually helps at this point. I need to do a bit more testing.

Thanks for the reply. It's good to know that someone else has the same reaction.

Do you by any chance have any reaction to lots of salty foods on too many days in a row?

There's such at thing as fructose malabsorption. And things you can do to improve it and carb metabolism in general.

I haven't noticed anything. I eat a lot of chili (no beans), which has a good amount of salt in it and I never have skin issues... but I still think I'm within a normal range of salt intake, so I can't say for sure.

For me, the glycemic load turned out to be the holy grail for my acne. I still take different supplements for my skin as a precaution, but I've done enough experimenting at this point that I'm fairly confident that eating low GL foods is 99% of the battle.

Just the other day I got a loaf of organic sprouted grain bread, after not having any grains for months. I wanted to test to see if I could eat any of the more "natural" types of bread. Within an hour of eating 2 slices my face started developing cysts along my jaw and mouth. It's kinda disappointing, because I've realized no matter how "healthy" they claim a certain product is, there really is no secret path to those delicious simple carbs. If it spikes your insulin, you are probably going to develop acne.

Thanks, I'll look into it.

Yeah, I've come to the same conclusion apart from my weird salt thing.

I have this reaction to certain carbs, but not to things like honey. Allergy tests don't rule out food sensitivity, which I would still say is the most likely culprit.
