So i have been dieting in some form or other for just over 9 months now. I have tried gluten free, carb free, low GI, no dairy, as little sugar as possible. I have tried liver supplements, b complexes, fish oils, probiotics, benzoyl peroxide, light therapy, vitamin d, meditating, herbal teas, saw palmetto & juicing, and still the acne is consistent. It is so hard trying to stay positive when everything virtually has little effect. I recently had one whole week without any new spots which was the first time in 9 years this had happened but then bam up sprouted 6 more and the cycle has begun again. I really do not want to try accutane and the thing that was stopping me is that my cholestrol was too high but i've recently had it tested and through my diet i have managed to half it from 9 to 5 ( the normal range is between 4 & 5). It feels like the only thing left is accutane as turning down meals, nights out etc etc for the sake of trying to keep my diet 'clean' for my skin is having little effect. I have also been on the regimen since January and whilst my skin is a little clearer it is still very red & inflamed and sore to the touch.

I live in the U.K. and we recently had around two weeks of sunshine and i made sure to have plenty on my skin and still no positive reactions. I'm really getting to the end of my tether in terms of treatments, what have i missed?!?!

What are you eating on a typical day now? What supplements are you taking? What are you using on your skin (moisturizer, cleanser, treatments, etc.)?

Seems like you're not giving any of those things enough time. It can take months to correct a deficientcy or damage from an irritable food. Also it could be things you wouldn't think about. For example ALL grains(including corn) make me break out. Flaxseed breaks me out, and pinapple is the worst. It gives me cysts all over my face. What were you doing when your skin was clear for a week? Try sticking with what you were doing then. Fixing yor body takes a long time, it's not a quick fix but hopefully a permanent one.

Can you post a photo or describe what your acne looks like & where it's concentrated?

For vitamin D deficiency, a few days or weeks in the sun won't correct it. When I lived in the UK, I suffered from seasonal affective disorder and was severely deficient. Also, my body didn't properly absorb vitamin D from the sun, and back then I didn't know about supplements so I never looked into it.

Perhaps you need to go get tested for deficiencies to see what you may be lacking.

About half those things aren't things you try. They are things you do permanently, i.e. low to mod GI, vitamin D, herbal teas or other such sources of antioxidants, omega 3 fats sources, low to no dairy, limited added sugars, etc. Although unless you have an intolerance, you don't have to eat that way 100% of the time. Go out.

What about other food intolerances? Sore to the touch sounds like nodular/cystic acne. 1) I bet its an intolerance and 2) I'd only apply soothing things to the area. Not BP.

How do you feel? Do you have any digestion issues?
