Hello there,

I am a longtime lurker and set up this account to share my story.

I am a 30 year old female, and have been dealing with what I thought was hormonal, adult-onset acne for the past several years. I have an eating-disordered history, largely the result of attempting to avoid foods that seemed to trigger my acne. I have been vegetarian for 10 years, vegan most of those (including at present). I have a degree in holistic health, and was a raw foodist for a year. My acne went into remission for a year after a 3 month course of juicing 5 lbs of raw carrots each day. It was a pain in the butt, but it worked as well as Accutane, without side effects. I noticed minor flareups returning in December 2013.

Around Christmastime, I was hit with a terrible cold. I began taking 2-4 cloves of raw garlic daily, split between morning and night, to kill the bug and rebuild my immune system. I minced it, swallowing it and chasing it with a big glass of water. I did this religiously for about 3 weeks, then decided to take a short break. Little did I know what was about to hit me.

First, allow me to reiterate that garlic is a POWERFUL healer. I developed three huge, painful cysts after about 2 weeks of taking it. Midweek of this week, while on garlic break, I woke up at midnight with what felt like food poisoning. Never have I felt so ill. Both ends, the whole deal. The next morning was even worse, and my lower back and hips were in excruciating pain. Luckily, I had an appointment for a physical with my doctor that morning. She attributed it all to the flu, and offered me an antiviral (Tamiflu), which I declined. I returned home to rest, and that's when things got truly ugly. I had terrible diarrhea all day, and I nearly lost my shit (haha) when I noticed parasites in the bowl. As in, worms. Dead ones.

I have touted the benefits of regular human deworming (we deworm our pets biannually; why are we above other members of the animal kingdom?) using diatomaceous earth, but never had I experienced this level of die-off. I had never actually witnessed a worm, although I secretly wished I had, for the satisfaction. Never had I experienced this level of physical pain, either. I ran back to my doctor, and actually ended up at the ER that night, as my level of pain terrified me as much as the parasites. A stool sample confirmed the diagnosis of pinworms, and I was prescribed an anti-parasitic. As clinical testing only catches about 1% of parasites, I suspect this was not the only variety. For the next three days, I literally thought I would die. I barely left the restroom. Today is the first day I have felt slightly human, and you'd better bet I'm back on the garlic train. I plan to resume DE as well.

It is estimated that 85-95% of us suffer from parasites. There are thousands of varieties. This all got me thinking. In the past few years, I have developed all sorts of food allergies and intolerances, as well as... acne. I suddenly found myself sensitive to all sorts of topicals, products, environmentals, and cosmetics. I assumed I had leaky gut and hormonal imbalances. And you know, maybe I do. But I also noticed that as soon as the horrific die-off began, those cysts drained and my skin looked... great. And felt... normal. Holy moly. I have a gut feeling that the parasitic load I was carrying was responsible for these symptoms. I didn't have overt symptoms of parasites, i.e. I never noticed an abnormal bowel movement, and have prided myself on living cleanly for many years now. And yet, I've had fatigue, insomnia, depression, this acne, and allergies. And apparently, I was offering these jerks a free ride for god knows how long. Related? Hmmm...

Raw garlic is the most powerful antibiotic, antiviral, antifungal, and antiparasitic I have encountered to date. I must warn that it is no gentle healer, particularly when taken internally. I began taking 2 minced cloves (raw and minced is important) at night again, which I plan to do for the next several months, repeated again in the fall. I hope I won't experience another period of this level of die-off, but if I do, I will be happy to know I'm ridding myself of a large amount of toxins.

Could a high parasitic load be lurking behind your strange food intolerances, environmental sensitivities, and, perhaps, acne? This is nothing to fear. As living things, this is just a part of life, albeit a part we avoid in polite conversation. Even Europe recommends biannual deworming for pets and their people. Knowledge is power! Perhaps a parasite cleanse, in the form of something traditional like DE or raw garlic, or using one of the products on the market (Humaworm is supposed to be good, but I have never personally used it) might alleviate your symptoms, including acne. Couldn't hurt to try, right?

Best of luck on your journey.

Pumpkin & papaya seeds are also parasite killers. And protease enzymes like bromelain. on an empty stomach.

I give that to my dog at bedtime, plus diatomaceous earth in his food for the tapeworms he's prone to. And he gets garlic but its cooked when i make his bone broths but only after crushing & letting it sit to let the enzymes form the allicin. I don't know if that's the substance that makes garlic so anti microbial. He has sensitive problem skin and mystery allergies.

Good things! From what I understand, the raw garlic contains more allicin, which is what makes it such a potent healer. I dose my animals with DE, but I will continue to eat a couple of raw minced cloves nightly indefinitely! Great cancer prevention, too :]

Sick, I know, right? But the percentages indicate that yes, you probably host some of these bad boys :[. It is just (a nasty part of) life! I guarantee if you eat a few cloves of raw garlic every day for a few weeks (before bed is best), you will eliminate them. I am TRIPPING OUT on how well I am sleeping now that they are gone. Like, beautiful, restful sleep. And my skin looks GREAT. And my attitude improved. And I even quit smoking. WTF??? It's insane to realize we all have them but never talk about it. Oh yes, and raw garlic is active against toxoplasmosis. Don't know if you listen to the Rogan podcast but ick. I have cats so I will be glad to rid myself of BRAIN PARASITES.

I meant to ask you, is this combo helping your pup? Is he already on a grain free diet? Does he get enough fatty oils?

I signed up for this forum just to talk to holistic warrior and I am hoping you respond. I am going through the exact same thing except I am at the beginning of the journey. Your post actually sounds like me except I don't smoke. I am 30 years old, vegetarian (gone raw vegan for a bit), have "hormonal acne", and have been a chronic nail biter since I was about 5 years old. I am pretty sure I have parasites.

I just ordered DE a few days ago and I want to start taking raw garlic and tracking my progress.

I was wondering when you took DE did you have any detox symptoms or did you see any worms? And when you FIRST took garlic did you feel ill?

Also how are you doing now?

Thanks. :)

I am sorry, but I do not believe everyone has parasites!

It is just impossible. Some might have it. I come from the family of medical professionals( well, I am not), but they told me it is all bull. As long as you wash your hands, do not kiss your pets with your mouth (or let them lick your lips), do not eat under cooked pork a lot or other meats( still not as bad as under cooked pork), or raw fish from the questionable recources, you are fine. However, it does not hurt to do the cleanse I guess. But my diet is just not parasite friendly though. So, no, every weird feeling in the stomach does not mean the worms are partying inside of you.

this might be my problem! my bowel movements have been very irregular and my cystic acne started very VERY suddenly, in the beginning of august and its only worsening, scarring ):

i'm going to try garlic, and go to my uni's medical services asking about parasitic infections tomorrow

i have nothing to lose at this point, and will be starting accutane within a month

Hi,

To be honest sometimes you need to look at things from a different perspective. I had a problem with bad breath, tried everything possible to "heal" this issue. nothing worked.

I realised that all that human body needs is a good cleanse, from the inside. And then any symptoms will disappear as the body heals itself from the inside.

You can try to follow at least 1 month cleanse. You can do either a lot of juicing. Or you can do a detox programme (I did 30 Day Refresh By Go Detox, plus I ate a lot of salads and raw fruits, and drunk plenty of water). I came out of this 30 day detox like a new person with no bad breath.

Hope this helps.

Please get tested for Lyme disease. I have had this same problem for years and when I did a Parasitc cleaning detox my body went into shock. I had to get surgery and cut off a part of My large Intestine. When I finally got the proper diagnosis and treatment I Had a pic line in my heart pumping rociphin everyday for a year w/ other medications following. On the treatments my acne finally went away and of my other illness. Sometimes it flears up. And I have go back In to treatment. Its mentally exhausting. But nothing like before. I Take a lot of probiotics, vitamins, eat healthy, exercise and get 8 hour of sleep. It kept my inflammation down. Including my acne and Lyme disease.
