I been eating lot of fruits/vegetables lately thinking it is good for you. These are the fruits i been eating and i want to know if these are good for you.
Fruits
1. Apples- I assume this has to be good for acne?
2. Red Grapes/Green Grapes- I buy a ton of these... i could eat 1 whole bag of 1 pound a day because its so addicting. But then i read online that grapes have citrus fruit and has lot of sugar and that is not good for acne?
3. Cantoulope/Honeydew Melon- I like eating these a lot, more specicially the cantoulope. But are these bad for you? Again i read that this has citric acid?
4. Strawberry- I assume this is good?
5. Blueberry- Read lot of good stuff for it so i assume nothing but good?
6. Blackberry- Has a weird taste but is it good? Blackberry are always cheap i noticed.
Vegetables
1. Spinach- Mainly Baby Spinach- I eat a lot of these becaue i thought anytime green is good for you. But i read someone said spinach actually causes acne so i completelyl stopped. Thoughts?
2. Broccoli- Obviously this is good right? I always eat it because i know its good for you and never heard any negative thing about it. i steam the broccoli. But does anyone know if its bad to put extra virgin olive oil in it? Because i do this all the time because it gives the broccoli a very good taste. Or should i not? What about salt? I usually put some salt on it as well and with both broccoli and extra virgin olive oil, it tastes great.
3. Carrots- At first i thought these are good but then i read baby carrots are bad? I also juice these with a blender. Is juicing carrot good?
4. Tomatos- Are these good or bad? I ate quite a good amount of it but stopped because im not sure. I eat it just like that.
5. Bok Choy- This is an asian type of lettuce. Bought it because i read lot of good things about it so i assume for skin its good?
They are all good as long a you aren't intolerant to them. But why would you buy baby carrots if you are going to juice them. I believe they are sometimes soaked in sugar. You can put EVO. & salt on your vegetables. The fat helps in the absorption of many nutrients.
You should eat whatever you can get fresh and local.
Bok Choy is a cabbage, btw. Even better.
Also, the above poster is mistaken about sugar. Each and every time you consume more sugar than your cells can take in at that time, damage is caused. And in the western world today with too much food & sedentary lifestyles,, most people do that all the time.
Blackberries would only be in season in the southern hemisphere, btw.
I wasn't specific sorry. I meant to say fruit sugar, aka fructose, essencialy, carbs. Our cells thrive on carbs.
Tough western society relies too much on unhealthy fats such as saturated (Meat) and monosaturated (Oils). NO fat/oil is health food.
I tend to stay away from this section because no one wants to leave their "organic" "free range" chicken out.
Fat is essential. And saturated & monounsaturaged are the healthiest. It's the industrialized hydrogenated & trans fats that are unhealthy. And the PUFAs, but only because we get too much of them and they are prone to rancidity.
Fructose also, can be a problem. Our cells do not thrive on fructose. They thrive on glucose. Fructose is processed entirely in the liver & turned to triglycerides contributing to heart disease and/or stored in the liver as fat causing nonalcoholic fatty liver disease something that was unheard of until recent decades & now even children get it. It's added fructose that's the problem for most people though. (Do not buy into that Agave Nectar as a healthy sweetener. It is not. You are better off having white sugar) But it is conceivable that you might consume too much from fruit. Also, many people have fructose malabsorption issues, which can be improved with better diet and lifestyle habits.
Can someone here tell me their experience on grapes? Besides blueberries and blackberries, grapes are my favorite other fruit.
I love the green grapes a lot even more than the red grapes. However, i didn't buy any more b/c i read a few threads where ppl said grapes are acidic and cause acne... but i did read a few ppl that said grapes helped clear their skin.
Can someone give me their opinion if grapes are good for you or not? I could eat 1 whole pound a day easily, could do it in one sitting b/c i love green grapes. I did read that grapes doesn't have that much citric acid which is a cause of acne though so im not sure.

They should be organic. And they are high in sugar. Whether or not they are good for YOU is individual and can depend on what else you do. Remember that when it comes to sugar, its the glycemic load of the meal that matters. And as for fructose, as long as you don't have fructose malabsorption issues, you should be fine as long as you don't bing and you avoid all added fructose, such as in processed foods & drinks.
So, Robertitoo is quite wrong is saying that we thrive on sugars - and fructose, no less. Fructose is probably the worst sugar for us. It's fine in the quantities found in fruit because we also get a package of vitamins, minerals, cofactors etc and a bunch of fiber and water. But excess will lead to problems, as it does with drinking sodas. Of course you would have to eat a lot of fruit in order to get as much sugar as you would by drinking a soda (though some fruits are surprisingly high in sugar - in large part an effect of artificial selection since the dawn of agriculture. On a side note, ancient fruits contained much less sugar and much more nutrients than our modern fruits).
If you have a sensitivity to a particular fruit/vegetable, you might break out from it. There aren't really any universal rules for what fruits/vegetables will break out who. Some do seem to be more antigenic than others, but only very slightly, and it isn't really even worth mentioning. I would say, though, that the most 'dangerous' fruits are citrus and berries, and perhaps apples, while the least 'dangerous' are grapes. But this doesn't mean much and I don't think anyone should make any assumptions based on this.
The same applies to vegetables; some could pose more of a threat, but it's not worth detailing, and it's still different for everyone. Nightshades give some people problems.
When it comes to fruits and vegetables, you would probably want to consider all of them safe to eat, and even good for acne. What you would want to watch out for is not a particular fruit or vegetable, but rather the quantity consumed. This applies mostly to fruits, since they have more sugar. If you spike your blood sugar, you risk temporary deregulation of your hormones, which could lead to acne. Keep fruits in small portions spread throughout the day, and try eating them with vegetables or another fatty/fibrous/proteinaceous food to slow down the absorption of sugar. If you notice yourself breaking out from a particular food, remove it from your diet.
