Dim For Male Acne?

Hi guys,

I have severe hormonal male acne and have never been able to fully get rid of it. I've read some things on the internet about DIM, but nearly ALL THE ARTICLES are geared towards women! It's always women talking about hormonal imbalances.

Does DIM work for male hormonal acne? What are your experiences? What happened?

I would not suggest that, I too have hormonal acne and taking Dim, primrose oil, saw palmetto or any said supplements are not meant to be taken by men and will cause extreme side effects when taken in long term. Dim could indeed help you with your acne along with the supplements I said you should avoid but the side effects are too great and it won't cure your acne for long term but short.

If you want to cure your acne you will need to do thing few things and I promise you your acne will be gone but you would just have to follow it in your own way.

1: You will have to stop drinking milk, milk contains hormones which unbalanced your already relegated hormones causing more acne, TRUST ME STAY AWAY FROM ANYTHING THAT CONTAINS MILK, dairy, chocolate, yogurt, anything that contains milk ANYTHING !

2: Don't anything that contains sugar, avoid anything with sugar also fruits

Fruits Lowest in Sugar

Small Amounts of Lemon or Lime

Rhubarb

Raspberries

Blackberries

Cranberries

Fruits Low to Medium in Sugar

Strawberries

Casaba Melon

Papaya

Watermelon

Peaches

Nectarines

Blueberries

Cantaloupes

Honeydew melons

Apples

Apricots

Grapefruit

Fruits Fairly High in Sugar

Plums

Oranges

Kiwifruit

Pears

Pineapple

Fruits Very High in Sugar

Tangerines
Cherries
Grapes
Pomegranates
Mangos
Figs
Bananas

3. Stay away from refined carbohydrates

4. Also see what foods your allergic too because it could be certain foods that relegating your unbalanced hormones with out you knowing, it could be something as simple as tomatoes, so try see what foods cause you problems with your skin, try do a elimination diet, where you water fast for at least 10 days and when your done you re introduce foods one by one and the foods that give you acne dose are the one's you stay away from,

Have you tried avoiding estrogenic foods like soy & flax? What's your diet like? Why do you think estrogen is your problem?

DIM helps the body flush out bad estrogens, so I don't think it would hurt, but that's just off the top of my head. It's been a while since we've had a lengthy discussion on DIM filled with research. It might impair your thyroid, but I think it's the I3C in brassicas that has the goitrogenic actions, not the DIM. Look into exactly how it functions first.
