Well, I have been lurking for some time and I now come with information! From the research I've put in the most important concept about acne is that everyone is different. Results happen for you and only you. I myself would read a post about a supplement curing someone's acne and rush to the store to buy it. Sadly, it doesn't work like that.

I'm posting in the "Diet & holistic health" section because it is fact that acne is created by our own bodies. Thinking deeper than that, you can only wonder why acne appears. Then with the mighty forces of the Gods, you wonder what causes acne. Albeit, you've probably already thought of these things before, but never gave it much thought other than "why am I cursed with this godforsaken acne!?". Now to the critical thinking.

Acne is a bacteria. The bacteria is excreted through our face, back, wherever... So, you have to think, "what part of my body is doing this?". This is where the key concept, everyone is different, holds true. Acne can be caused from tons of possibilities. With the unreal amount of possibilities, it's difficult to hone in on the cause quickly. However, there's ways of discovering the root of acne; Examine yourself as if you are your own doctor. You want to look at yourself from a different perspective. This will aid in finding the abnormalities you, yourself, would regularly not notice. Ask questions like: "do I feel tired all the time?", "how often do I poop?", "am I fatigued easily?", "do I suffer from hair loss?", "is my poop normal color?", "what about my shampoo?", "loss of sexual drive?". Anything. Ask yourself anything. At first you'll be like "wtf d00d this is so0o0o stupid", but sooner or later you'll be asking yourself some really good questions and then you'll be able to start narrowing down the possibilities.

From the research I've conducted, diet, intestinal dysfunction, hormones, and vitamin deficiency/excess are the leading causes of acne. I'll break these down vaguely.... kind of.

Diet: Know your trigger foods! These are foods that will give you a pimple consistently. Trigger foods are different for everyone. Your body rejects the trigger food, such as a food you're allergic to, slapping a new pimple right on your face. I say slap because it's a food that your body does not want inside of it. Most likely, the foods you're allergic to are trigger foods as well as foods with large amounts of hormones(ie cow milk and meats). With that said, be aware of what seems to break you out. Eat a controlled diet, eliminating all unessential foods that could be the possible trigger foods and if that worked for you, slowly add in the foods you once enjoyed. Organic foods carry only natural hormones, lowering the unneeded hormones that are consumed. Now, the obvious! Drink the recommended daily amount of water (3 liters, about 5 water bottles) and eat vegetables. Basically, maintain a healthy diet.

Intestinal Dysfunction: When I look around at the acne-free people, I think to myself "why do they not have acne, but I do?". That got me thinking as to how intestinal dysfunction is a factor with acne. Something internal may not be working correctly, hmmm! This is a difficult topic for those who aren't very savvy with the human body. But, guess what... Google knows a lot! This is where the self-questioning comes in handy. Those abnormalities you begin to find will have an array of possibilities with a simple Google search. From there, narrow it down. I'll give an example to clarify. Say you find yourself with trouble going number 2 and you're fatigued. Google "can't poop and im tired" and you get some pretty ridiculous information. With some knowledge about how Google works, wording things differently helps a lot. Let's try "constipation and fatigue" and now the first 5 links gave about 8 different possibilities, ranging from your thyroid gland to your colon. Well, there's some more leads to discovering a mystery. Keep Googling!

Hormones: The things we all have. Our bodies produce all of these hormones to maintain a normal functioning body. Sometimes things get out of whack and sprout out hormones for whatever reason to keep your body functioning normally. Think of your body as a song and your brain is an equalizer. Your body is producing a song that has a lot of bass, your brain is going to send out hormones to flatten it out. For the teenagers, there's not much you can do about hormonal acne besides maintaining a healthy lifestyle and reducing your intake of big hormone carriers like milk and meat. As a teenager, your body is going through tons of changes and it's constantly trying to balance itself out with hormones. Like a bad cold, it might have to run it's course since most supplements will get trampled by your bodies hormones. However, that doesn't mean it won't work, it will just be harder, so keep reading. For the non-teenagers, your body can express it's hormonal imbalance with the appearance of acne. Hormones can be digested and brought into our body, which is a good thing. However, almost everything we consume has some sort of hormone that can cause an imbalance in our body. As stated earlier milk and meats are the big carriers. One thing I learned is that masturbating causes a big rush of hormones that could even be the cause of your acne. Since hormones are vague with acne, there's various supplements that help control your hormonal level. You'll have to do some figuring out to see which supplement is balancing the correct hormones. Each hormone has it's own characteristic, so try and figure out which hormone it could be.

Vitamin Deficiency/Excess: In essence, this could be categorized under intestinal dysfunction but, I believe it deserves it's own category. Lots of people disregard symptoms that are caused from vitamin deficiency. I'm sure most of you care more about fixing your acne than stupid little things like chapped lips or a mark on your fingernail. But, these stupid little things are actually signs that your body is lacking a necessity. Now, the self-questioning. Write down anything you might suspect as an abnormality then begin conducting your Google searches! Everyone's body reacts differently to various situations. Let's say there's a group of 15 people that are deficient in the same five vitamins and there's only two people suffering from acne. Those two people have the same vitamin deficiencies as the other 13 people yet have acne because of it! Now, sufferer 1 takes only one of the vitamins is cured! Sufferer 2 took 4 out of 5 of the vitamins and still has acne, what!? What I'm trying to say is that our bodies are like puzzles and that you might only need one or multiple vitamins. For those that take supplements, understand the correct amount that you're supposed to take. Excessive vitamin intake is detrimental to your body and acne. Megadosing leads to more acne-causing problems like colon and liver dysfunction. People without acne aren't megadosing, so there is no reason you should.

Acne is a puzzle. A very, very, very difficult puzzle. But, with research and the understanding of your own body, the pieces will begin to fall in to place. Anyways, if nothing seems to be helping, at least you're becoming healthier. Be patient, research, and keep thinking. Oh yeah, and don't masturbate.

Please, don't refrain from questions or adding your input.

*I'll write my little acne story here.*

In class I would sit and stare at the kids with acne-free faces, drinking Mountain Dew and eating Skittles, wondering how on Earth they don't have acne but I do. I only drink water, eat organic and exercise daily, so why do I have acne? That brought me to the conclusion that it had to be something internal. Tried a lot of supplements, blindly expecting one of them to be the cure. After a couple months of no success, I sat down and really evaluated myself. I came up with a topics that could be the cause so I kept researching and narrowed it down to my kidneys not functioning properly. Went to the doctor and figured out how to get those suckers working correctly... peace out, acne.

There are several genetic tendencies that make the difference between us and clear skinned people. They are no more or less healthy and I'd bet the majority of people these days have intolerances, intestinal dysfunction & nutritional deficiencies. That's why they are riddled with health conditions that were uncommon just a few decades ago
