Not sure how to describe this but I sometimes can tell I'll break out, it usually happens when my stomach starts to feel like a mess and I end up having loose stool or diarrhea. Then over the next 24 hours I break out. Happened again this week. Usually it starts with a "feeling" a few inches below my navel, some sort of activity there, and sometimes also around four or five inches above. If I skip a meal (rarely) I'll get stomach pains and likely diarrhea later on after eating too.
I can't identify anything I would have eaten that would have cause this in particular. It's very random. t's been getting more frequent recently, I get big breakouts around my mouth, chin, nose, between the eyebrows a little bit (it's like a wide oval zone, going from my chin to between my eyebrows).
I tried BP and it works for my upper back, but for my face it makes it worst or it breaks out.
Male, almost 31 years old, had acne since my early teens, it's not getting better. Was clear one summer and another time one month on vacation. Never cleared other than that, except sometimes for a week until a new breakout happens:| Feels like a curse.
I do get the impression that poor sleep might result in digestive problems, I have so much difficulty going to bed early.
This definitely happens to me. Every time I get bad indigestion, bloating or gas, I break out at the same time. There is definitely a connection between acne and the gut--I learned that a long time ago with my food sensitivities, but also seeing how violently I react to probiotics. You just have to try to figure out what irritates you and avoid those things.
The only thing I noticed was skipping breakfast on Thursday, I started feeling very hungry/stick at around 11:00am, and all the usual problems showed up. Been breaking out like crazy since.
I don't think food itself is the problem. Of course some foods are more likely to make me breakout, but those foods in certain situations won't break me out at all. It seems that when my body is in a certain state, it becomes very intolerant to a lot of foods. When it's fine, I can eat anything. When I was clear some time ago for a month, I was drinking beer nightly, sometimes two, and had no problems. But I know if right now I drank a beer I would break out big time.
That's why I still think it's lack of sleep that throws my body off, first and foremost.
I swear this week I'm going to bed no later than 11pm! I cannot keep on living like this.
Did you ever take oral antibiotics for your acne?
What does your diet consist of?

I have never taken antibiotics no.
My diet is pretty good, and I tried different kinds, such as excluding gluten, dairy, etc.
Right now I usually eat a bowl of oatmeal with unsweetened whey powder, maybe a bit of fresh pinneapple too, with cinnamon.
Lunch can be things like chicken and salad with olive oil and a bit of red wine vinegar.
Dinner might be hoisin-ginger-salmon, steak, chicken, or big omelette with salad.
Once in a while I might eat something with wheat, but like I said, it's not the issue. When I was clear for a month I was eating bread with a lot of my meals and had no issue (I was sleeping early, I was on vacation, lots of sun, etc.).
I think my digestive problems are sleep related, and that it makes me more sensitive to certain foods but maybe even to stress or other things that themselves worsen skin condition under such circumstances. Before I was clear for that month I mention, I had taken the airplane, and didn't sleep on the long flight (which went from North America to Europe, so it screwed up my internal clock). I got really serious diarrhea for the next 48 hours, I was literally pooing yellow Then a week later I was clear and remained clear for a month, until much later on in my vacation I missed sleep again on long 10-hour night time bus rides, slept only three hours in three days, and broke out massively again afterwards. Then took the airplane back home, didn't sleep again, continued to break out. Was never clear again for more than a week since.
So to me it appears linked. Probably not the cause itself, I doubt this would result in the same problems for everyone lacking sleep, but maybe my system is particularly weakened in such situations for whatever reason.
Slep and your circadian cycle of bright light and dark exposure affect everything. Get out into the daylight as much as possible during the day, then start dimming lights and avoid tv, mobile, tablet screens an hour or so before bed. Get the f.lux software for PC and android that will turn down the blue light that prevents melatonin production.
It's been raining non stop for a week, I wanted to go out during every lunch break:p
I installed flux before but it's too annoying for me, especially if I usually work on some artwork on my PC. I guess I should re-install it anyway and just turn it off in those specific cases. It always felt too dark to me. I'll see if I can tweak it.
My face is such crap right now, hasn't been this bad in a while. I really wonder what happened starting late last week that led to this crazy breakout I haven't had in a long time.
