Post-Acne Marks

So.....I've had moderate to sever cystic acne since i was 14 and i am almost 26. This summer, I decided to get to the bottom of it. I'm sick of feeling worthless and having painful lesions all over my face. (They say acne is so prevalent, but I'm the only one of my friends who suffers from it.)

So, I stopped almost all dairy, and slowly stopped getting cysts. I stopped picking....mostly, it's been VERY difficult to do. Saw almost an immediate improvement. (Tried lots of other things that didn't work, made spots worse). This summer, a sales woman at Ulta actually said "ohh that cream is for acne, and you don't have acne." That was one of the best moments of my life. I was spending lots of time in the sun with my girls, and my face was looking great. I started getting "cycle" breakouts in October once I had my first post-partum period. I blamed the sudden sebaceous plugs all over my cheeks and neck on this hormonal change. Stopped using jojoba oil there, and only on my forehead and nose (which looks great today...the Nordic naturals DHA I've added has helped too..love it). And started using ACV to get rid of the plugs. But I kept getting more on my neck..the ones on my cheeks are flattening out.. Went for a physical and found my vitamin D serum level was 18 (should be closer to 50-100). Started supplementing with MegaFood D3 (brands matter.... This is d that is derived from lanolin fermented in nutritional yeast so the body recognizes it as food... I'd never take anything but WHOLE FOOD SUPPLEMENTS....different from "vitamins").

So.... When I take my DHA, don't touch my face, take my vitamin D3, and avoid dairy, I get no new acne...... But I now have bright red marks allll over my cheeks and neck... Hundreds :( I'm using lemon juice, and an oatmeal/honey/yogurt mask, but it's very slow....... Any natural tricks to get this going? Thanks for reading this...

Depends how you define natural ;) I'm using vitamin C serum and retin-a to help with mine. retin-a doesn't sound natural but it is just topical vitamin a really... No good if you want to get pregnant again though. Vitamin C serum might be more palateable to you though? You can make it yourself from natural ingredients, I prefer to buy it for convenience sake. It is quite unstable so you need to make it regularly or buy it in an opaque tube. It is supposed to help with uneven skin tone and promote new collagen formation so it's good for red marks, scars and anti-ageing.

I have alot of new red marks after a recent breakout and they seem to be fading quicker than I thought they would... I don't know if it's just time or if the products I've been using are helping. Before the retin-a I tried glycolic acid lotion and peels which may have helped too. Glycolic acid is from fruits so I don't know if that counts as natural! I think it's either/or with retin-a and glycolic and I preferred the retin-a because it prevents acne and promotes collagen as well as exfoliating to help with red marks which is all the glycolic is supposed to do I think... Hope that helps :)

That's awesome! Thank you for the help/advice. What products do you use? I read a while back on the c serum, and how to make it, but it seemed way to cumbersome. What brands do you use for the c and the retin-a and glycolic acid? Thanks, friend :)

You could try the banana peel treatment. Many people dnt know about it but all you do is using the inside of the banana peel u rub it onto ur skin. Do this 2 times everyday and you should see a difference!

I've tried it and it worked but sadly I got lazy :(

Im trying it again now and its working
