Food Sensitivity Testing

Hello all,

I'm getting ready to order a food sensitivity test to help me identify dietary changes that may improve my complexion.

Some background: food sensitivities are considered different from food allergies in that the immune response is delayed and caused by a different pathway than a classic food allergy. Food allergies are immediate and obvious, like someone that gets hives and rash from eating peanuts. Food sensitivities often present no obvious physical symptoms and are diagnosed using a different test methodology than classic food allergies. Of course, some doctors believe food sensitivity testing is accurate and valid and others discount the entire concept as quackery.

But many people believe that food sensitivities contribute to acne.

In any case - has anyone here purchased an IgG ELISA based food sensitivity test? Did you try eliminating foods based on the results? How was your experience? Apparently their is a large difference in the quality and reliability amongst the various labs and I am trying to find the best.

Thanks much

I actually did a food intolerance test through the mail a few months ago and have eliminated foods that testes positive for me. It had done nothing for my acne so maybe food and diet is not my problem.

test is not always the best way to find your food intolarances.

you may need to avoid foods that wasnt on the test..

Arqa22 - The food intolerance thing is only one aspect of having acne and to be honest with you, randomly pulling out certain foods and avoiding them is something that i have tried, even without the test. Your advice is appreciated though. I am about to begin another holistic route, fixing my internal body wit whole food supplements as i believe that something inside me is NOT doing what it needs to do. I definitely realize that this process is a long one and i am doing the BEST that i can do.

i see that you havnet stopped using probiotics/creams..... dont you believe me that they may cause you to breakout? seriously... avoid them. [fish oil is also bad for acne]

all those moisturizer and creams only irritate your skin and do nothing good, they wont stop you from breaking out. acne is not caused by dirt/sweat or whatever those creams shuld do.

also, do you avoid corn and nuts? [nuts break me out]

seriously, from now on dont put ANYTHING on yourface anymore, you cant lose anything, right? only gain clear skin. what will happen if you stop putting chemicals on your face for 3 weeks? nothing. what may happen if you keep using them? acne......... :(

I think you should try only eating the foods that were tested and you didn't react to. And research anything you actually eat. After changing my diet, I realized baking powder was still causing my acne, but I didn't know why. Later, I found out they used corn in it.

I also took probiotics, which contained dairy and soy. That's botched results. So to truly test your intolerances, I suggest only eating foods you were tested for and didn't react to.

You should probably try a sensitivity test to test some better foods. I took vitamin D for a short amount of time, don't know if it caused any acne but I thought it did. If so, it's probably because of the things that end up in it, or the fact that it causes an imbalance.
