Are Chia Seeds Good For Acne?

So I'm now totally addicted to smoothies. I crave them! They're so yummy. I'm thinking of adding chia seeds in the mix, but I get scared because there are some things like that that hurt acne because they mess with hormones or GI. I googled them and can't find anything on acne and chia having benefits. I'm hoping someone here can help.

PS -- So far this month I haven't had to pop a baby aspirin for a forming pimple at TOTM. I hope that stays!

Put some crushed flax seed or better yet flax seed oil. They contain Omega 3's and 6's which are really good for your skin.

Flax seed would be one of those seeds the OP is afraid of because of the estrogenic affects that might help some, but make others worse. Often much worse.

I don't believe chia seeds are a problem and they are nutrient rich and sources of omega 3s. But you will have to try them to see if they are a problem for you.

I was hoping you'd come along. You know everything! You should really have a blog. People would read it. Thanks, and yes, I'm afraid of flax for that reason.

I think I'm going to just forgo the chia for now.

I really think the smoothies are helping my endo and my TOTM flares! I love making up different recipes and I've yet to have one that tasted bad. I love them and I feel like they're so healthy for me. They're like vitamin pills, but in food form which is so much more effective. Anyway, I can't gush enough about them!

They should be in the refrigerator or freezer, especially if they are already ground.

ive been consuming flax seeds for a while now, at 5 lb bag intervals and they dont state to store them in the frig (the are whole, not ground (refined)).

That they are whole makes a big difference in how fast they will go rancid, but I'd still keep them in the fridge or freezer. And in the dark.

mine are in the pantry unopened and whole grain. i plan to use them in a fruit smoothie later, but i will store them in the fridge after that per your recommendation. do i need to grind them before i put them in the smoothie? for future reference i need to know this because i only have a grinder for coffee beans. i'm too lazy to wash it after each use so there's always remnants of grounds in there.

25 gramsunflower seeds (high omega6 amount)per day promote acne

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4601245/

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chia has a high amountof omega 6 (la) and omega 3 (ala).

Both can promote inflammatory acne
