Hi I am really hoping one of you will be able to help me interpret the ingredients list on my Zinc supplement. I am taking Blackmores Bio Zinc. I recently asked Blackmores about their labelling but did not get a specific answer (except to say that 2 tablets per day is safe for the short term). I need to know because I am taking twice the recommended dose. If I take one tablet per day only, my acne returns quickly.

Ingredients:

Zinc amino acid chelate (Zinc 25 mg)----------------------------125 mg

Magnesium phosphate (Magnesium 25 mg)----------------------122 mg

Manganese amino acid chelate (Manganese 2 mg)--------------20 mg

Vitamin A (Retinyl acetate 860 Ag)--------------------------------2500 IU

Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine hydrochloride)----------------------------50 mg

On the left, I see 25mg of Zinc and on the right, I see 125mg. It is very confusing. Above the left column it says "Active Ingredients Per Tablet" But above the right column, it is blank. What does the right column mean?

I have assumed that one tablet contains 25mg of zinc, 25mg of magnesium, 2 mg of manganese, 2500 IU of Vitamin A and 50mg of B6. Am I right?

When I search for this product on other websites, I have sometimes seen the ingredients listed like this:

Zinc amino acid chelate 125 mg equivalent to elemental zinc 25 mg

Magnesium phosphate 122 mg equivalent to elemental magnesium 25 mg

Manganese amino acid chelate 20 mg equivalent to elemental manganese 2 mg

Vitamin A (Retinyl acetate 860 mcg) 2500 IU

Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine hydrochloride) 50 mg

I just want to know if I am safe to continue taking 2 tablets per day. 1 tablet is not enough. My acne comes back!

This warning is listed on the bottle:

The recommended adult daily amount of vitamin A from all sources is 2500IU. When taken in excess of 8,000 IU vitamin A can cause birth defects. If you are pregnant, do not take vitamin A supplements without consulting your doctor or pharmacist.

(I am not pregnant or TTC).

Thanks for any help...

digging this one out of the grave, but did continuing the course of supplements keep your acne under control?

Did you have to lower the dosage to one tablet a day?

For anyone wondering,

There's 25 mg Zincin that 125mg of Zinc amino acid chelate

Magnesium of 25 mg in that 122 mg of Magnesium phosphate

And so on.

The dosage is one tablet per day .

If you take 2, you are getting more than they warn is safe for preformed vitamin A.

If you want more zinc, take a zinc supplement. Or a multi mineral as that really isn't much magnesium. Also, not much point in taking a water soluble B vitamin just once per day.
