Hey yall, you probably don't remember me. You can see some of my posts on the first few pages of this thread. Anyways, i started taking non-flush niacin about a month and a half ago. I am still clear, and I havn't washed my face at all for about 2 months. My facial redness has decreased dramatically, my skin texture is back to almost how it used to be, and I can litterally feel that my skin is tougher now. Just figured i would update you guys, this might be the last time because i really don't need to go on this website anymore...

P.S. Use the non-flush kind. Hexoncinate or whatever..thats what I'm using. Also, if you start to see results from the niacin, try not washing your face for a few days and if you don't break out try to completely abstain from washing your face. Your skin will thank you.

That's great man. Are you on a diet as well?

NOpe, no diet. Just eating healthy like I always do. I try to eat fast food only if I absolutely have to. I also take a probiotic every night, and workout/exercise every day.

So - I'm confused. Should I take flush or non-flush? I want to try this.

It looks like most are successful with the non-flush. I started taking it today along with fish oil and zinc.

Ok, so I already have Super B-Complex tablets with Folic Acid.

I'm going to pick up some Chromium Picolinate 200 Mcg Tablets tonight,

along with some Niacin 500 Mg Capsules Flush Free

Should I start out at 500mg or begin my first week splitting the tablets for 250mg?

Thanks for the help

EDIT: and chromium should be taken in micrograms correct?

I think you'll be fine starting out with 500mg because I did so without any problems. I took all those supplements after breakfast.

Hey all,,,

Not sure why I'm posting this here, I guess cause it's related to a B vitamin that supposedly works pretty well. My question is has anyone ever tried taking B-5? Just wondering cause it sort of does the same thing as Niacin.

Niacin is vitamin B3. I've tried B5 - didn't work.

Thanks Strato,,,

I know people take niacin to lower cholesterol it has something to do with lower triglycerides which is in sebum. From what I've read B5 does sort of the same thing in lowering sebum by breaking down fats (according to that Chinese doctor) . Niacin sort of stopped working as good for me, so I was going to try taking some B5 also. Of course along with a b-50 complex with all the extra b3 and b5. Any other suggestions would be great.

Just started testing B3 myself using Niacin 100mg from Solgar (flush) :

Day 1 : 100mg - side effects(after some hours) : a slight headache and a tingling sensation around my mouth

Day 2 : 100mg - side effects : none

Day 3 : 200mg - side effects(after 4 hours) : my first flush ! Yes, it does feel like a sunburn.

Day 4 : 200mg - side effects : still got the flush, but in a lesser degree than day 3.

Day 5 : 300mg - side effects(after about 10 minutes) : flush, burns more and lasts longer

Day 6 : 300mg - the same as Day 5

Day 7 : 400mg - side effects(after about 10 minutes) : super flush ! burns like crazy, incl. my back.

Day 8 : 400mg - side effects(after about 10 minutes) : super flush ! but less than Day 7, back doesn't burn anymore. Boy do you get red, like someone painted you with a red color :)

Too early to say if my skin has improved.

Is it a good idea to take niacin with probiotics?

I took one 500mg pill yesterday and my skin does seem better today (although it's to early to tell if that is from the niacin).

This morning though I read that it can lower blood pressure which I am concerned about. My blood pressure is usually around 120/50. Do you think this is safe for me to take?

I would ask one of my doctors, but neither my derm or my regular doctor are very supportive of anything "alternative" despite the fact that nothing they have given me works and some of it only makes it worse.

Wow just took my first 500mg flush tablet. I've never taken niacin before, so that must explain the huge flush I'm getting. Feels like your whole body is in a baddddd tanning bed or a huge oven.

Am new to this site, and after reading about Niacin, decided to nip out and buy a bottle. All I could find was 100mg at Holland and Barrett (UK) for A2.49. I took 1 tablet with a meal on Tues eve, (as did my husband, who is not a sufferer). He had a flush pretty much straight away even on such a low dose his face, ears and neck went red. I had no reaction whatsover, and am now taking 100mg with breakfast and 100mg with dinner in the evening. Still no reaction, side effects or flushing at all.

However, even in so much as 24-48 hours I have noticed a dramatic difference in oil production. My pores also seem tighter. At the age of 35, and after years of suffering, I am so excited even by this change.

Normally within an hour or two of washing my face, oil would literally be pouring off, and I could easily soak up two papier poudre papers, but now nothing!

I also this week had a consultation re the NLite laser treatment, but if this Niacin improves things, I will stick with that at A2.49 a bottle as opposed to A200 a treatment for the laser!!!

I'm confused should I be buying one that says Time Release on the package or not? Does this one seem okay? http://www.walgreens.com/store/catalog/Vit...on=push-product

I wouldn't use time-released. It's supposedly hard on the liver.

Anyway, the link you posted is the exact same Niacin I was taking and it did work.....for only a week.

Maybe you'll have better luck.

About two months ago, soon after I started taking 500mg of non-flush Niacin daily, I almost passed out while at a restaurant with friends. I felt light-headed, nauseous, shaky, and started to black out for no apparent reason. I recovered, but felt light-headed and tired all the time in the next few weeks. I decided to stop the Niacin after a month, and am finally starting to feel better.

I hadn't heard of Niacin lowering blood pressure, but now the way I felt makes perfect sense, as my BP is normally low at 110/60 or 120/60.

Be careful with that stuff.

I'd been taking 4 100mg capsules daily, 2 in the afternoon and 2 at night. When I take 2 I don't flush, but when I took 3 I did flush and I haven't took 3 at a time since.

So, the other day I took 2 with breakfast. A few hours later i get this random flush, which I thought is pretty weird, considering my body has got use to taking 2 at a time.

Has anybody else experienced random flushing way after they've took Niacin?

Okay, thanks for answering that. That's what I heard, but just wanted to make sure. What kind of acne do you have by the way? Mild, moderate, or severe?

I have really low blood pressure, and I usually don't notice any side effects from niacin. It does tend to make me a bit groggy/sleepy though, maybe due to the blood pressure lowering effect, but I just take it at night. I have cut back to only taking it every other day, but it seems to still have the same good effects on my acne.

Oh, and just so everyone is aware, if you're taking the Spring Valley no-flush inositol hex. version of niacin, it's not really 500 mg of niacin.

It's 400 mg of niacin (inositol hex.) and 100 mg of plain old inositol. I finally read the back, and that's what it says.

Well, I just bought

https://www.amazon.com/Spring-Valley-Flush-Niacin-Capsules/dp/B0012WYCAE/

To give it a try.

Its 400MG, but I don't have severe acne, so I just want a little help.

It will be here saturday, paid for the fast shipping.

Is that the right stuff?

And can I take this with my other vitamins?

Which are...

https://www.amazon.com/Utrition-Liquid-Vitamin-Plus/dp/B00117YU52/

Thanks!

This is the second time when the customs sent back my niacin. I never got a chance to try it. They say it's medicine and we can't buy meds from the internet.

I've lost $100+ because of this...

Meds can only be sent from a person to another person (not from a company). So if anyone wants to help me out and buy me niacin and mail it to me from his own name, I'd be grateful. I can send you $ to paypal.

How about save your money and go see a Dermatologist? Niacin isn't the miracle some people are claiming. Temporary relief yes, long term not a chance.

I'm done with Niacin. I've been taking it for about a month and have noticed no improvement whatsoever.
