has anybody taken this together with zinc? can they both be taken at the same time? ex. after dinner or should they be morning and night?
i take 100mg of zinc with it. i take my niacin in the morning, and then i take 50mg of zinc after dinner, and then 50 mg before i go to bed.
by the way, inositol hexiniacinate is the way to go. i dont know why, but its more effective and i haven't had a breakout yet. and i shaved last night which often makes things much worse. i think this may have something to do with inositol. which used to classified as one of the B vitamins but was taken out because you don't need it. it has a lot of health benefits and that may be what's helping. i wonder if supplementing with extra inositol would make any difference. from what i've read, there are no side effects of inositol and people take huge doses of like 15 grams to treat anxiety and depression.
I just wanted to say that this thread made me want to buy niacin just for the flush effect, which is kinda cool.
To sum up, which version should I buy? Which one is more effective? I don't mind flushing, but if the other one is MORE EFFECTIVE then I would definitely go with that.
Something like this?

Strato,
inositol hexiniacinate is the best version, it is a non-flush. I experienced great things from flush kind, then they subsided, now the results are slowly coming back, but I am switching to inositol hexiniacinate and have ordered some already, as most people use this with excellent results.
I would buy from a reputable brand, and from an online pharmacy, not ebay.
Well the really inspiring success stories have come from people using inositol hexiniacinate.
Take this as an example:

Also, the guy who originally brought around the niacin craze was also using inositol blablabla, although his success wasn't documented.
Therefore, I'd agree with AcniBoi and say go for inositol.

did you have to take any copper or iron supplements to counter the zinc?
OK I ordered the non-flush kind ( inositol hexiniacinate) NOW brand so I will keep up updated if I see any improvement in my skin or general well-being : ) It was only $10 and I have spent way more than that on other products.
Yeah, it is cheap. If it doesn't work btw, try another brand, possibly all the people that it hasn't worked for (the very minority) have been using bad brands
I've been using this one:
http://www.nowfoods.com/Products/Productsb...tm?cat=Vitamins
I pay it 8 euros here in Europe (about 10 $). And taking 2x250 daily, it costs me less than 3 euros for month. Very cheap.
I've been using it by only a week and I see some improvements. No more cysts, only "normal-size" pimples, and less than before... It's not a magical cure that clear you at 100% (on my experience) but it has sure a strong antinflammatory effect on skin!

If it is managing to keep away your cysts and a few normal pimples, after 1 week, good for ya. Eventually, hopefully, you may find that it stops all..
How nasty is the flush?
I'm going to take the flush kind it just to see which works better for me. I think the Flush-Free works well, but I'm also taking Zinc, Vitamin A, and Vitamin C those other vitamins can be lurking variables. I ordered the 250mg bottle and I'll note the difference (if there's any at all).
its great to see that this stuff is working. it feels good to know that i've made a difference in someones life. today i walked in for a job interview and i was just so glad i had no new breakouts and i could cover my fading redmarks with a little bit of make up here and there.
if taking 500mg of inositol hexiniacinate doesn't completely clear your skin or you still get frequent breakouts. try adding 50mg-100mg of zinc picolinate and see if it makes a difference. i think my results are going great because i'm taking two supplements with good anti inflammatory properties. maybe that's the key here. im sure if you took 200mg or 300mg of zinc you could clear your acne, but that'll happen after you puke your brains out and overdose. so taking two different anti inflammatories could treat the same problem without harming any other organs.
First time poster here - just bought some Niacin - No Flush fromTarget - I believe the brand is Origins-on Monday and I can honestly say I have not had a new pimple since. I take it while eating and drink plenty of water. I had mild acne with the occasional pimple, but the last 2 weeks I started breaking out on my cheeks. It's finally healed, but after taking Niacin, I have not had a new one. Granted its only been 2 days, but it's been great! Kinda eerie in a way because I never expected immediate results, but I'll take it.

Thanks for the recommendation. I already take a Cal Mag Zinc supplement, but it's is only like 20 mg of zinc. It does say you can take twice a day so maybe I will try that. To make up the other mg of zinc I will try eating pumpkin seeds everyday. YUM
I am too afraid of taking a lot of supplements or mega dosing to even try 100 mg : )
Plus I thing there is a small amount of zinc in my multi-vitamin
