Hey dudes. I've been on the no washing regimen for 4 days and I am shocked how my skin is looking better and not breaking out. I thought I was totally dependent on BP and nothing else would ever work. I'm 23 and I've had acne since i was in elementary school. Why oh why have I been so stupid all these years and bought all this crap and put it on my face? I've tried the water only reg and both times I did it I looked like total ass. However, leaving it alone has so far yielded impressive results. Perhaps the problem I had with water was the temperature of it??
I actually cleared up when I was 18 by unknowingly doing the same thing. I just didn't realize why at the time. Then as I began washing my face with water again it slowly got bad again. Man, if it just would have occurred to me then I would have saved myself 5 years of emotional pain.
I'll keep you all updated
Dude, once you see your face regain it's healthy skin. Washing it is not a bad thing anymore. But make sure to give enough time for the skin to relax after every wash. Or if you want to, wash only when you think you need to. Routine is evil leading to over washing.
I'm glad that another person is free from the vicious acne business cycle!
Yeah, it's probably the weather. If you shower, don't wet your face, just wash your body as usual. It's all good even if sweat dries up on your face. As far as I know it does not smell or anything like we used to believe in the past. I believe that the skin in our face is different than the skin in our body. Try it and see for yourself. It may be gross at first but when you get used to it, you won't even notice. But if there's excessive sweat on your face and is dripping, pat with a towel and that should do it.
This is very interesting! And it all seems to make sense... (yepican put in words, the summary of my brain activity every 25 seconds out in public)
I do remember looking slightly better after ignoring my face for a week when our power went out about 5 months ago.
I would like to try this, but probably wont ever build up the courage too do so... but nonetheless I have a few questions!
How might I go about jumping into this: do I wash the previous days BP off with a cleanser, just water, or simply leave it be?
I looooove hot showers; would the steam floating around in the bathroom void this experiment?
Also if I try this and it works, how might I sign up to order a half dozen flying pigs?
But by all means please keep us updated. From your gallery pics, your skin looks slightly akin to mine... If I am able to see the results your promising captured in a "month after" shot Ill gladly join and provide you with another log to cite.
But until then, I feel I need further convincing. I'll try and think up some more preliminary questions as well.
btw: your age and acne history mach mine to the point... only I'm a pasty white guy.
:/

hey wapak, can you only regain your healthy face but not letting even water touch your face? And do you know approximately how long it would take for it to get back to that healthy face....and how would you know its at that stage of healthiness? sorry for like 3 questions in a row!!
I went from applying BP every night to going "no wash" style without a transition period. I just washed the nights bp off with cold water and went from there. I would try to keep the temp down on the showers, as i think the hotness of the water is what messed my only water experiments up. Not sure if hot steam would have the same effect. You could be different than me.
I don't believe our bodies were made to get hit with such high temperature water consistently. Some people's skin can handle it. Mine doesn't seem to respond well to it, even though it does feel pretty darn good.
Go pasty white guys!!!
How might I go about jumping into this: do I wash the previous days BP off with a cleanser, just water, or simply leave it be?-I say simply leave it be. Before I went into this, I was into proactive 3 step system which was very much is in the same concept as Dan's BP regimen(only more BP). No transition period, just straight to do nothing after my last cleansing/moisturizing.
I looooove hot showers; would the steam floating around in the bathroom void this experiment?
-I don't do hot showers so I don't have an answer for this. But you may certainly find out yourself.
One thing I say though, just don't let water hit your face no matter what.
Also if I try this and it works, how might I sign up to order a half dozen flying pigs?
-Make sure you send some my way!

-Yeah, I would surely make this experiment known to the public. As far as I know mine would be the first do nothing regimen log with pictures.
hey wapak, can you only regain your healthy face but not letting even water touch your face?-Probably not depending on how damaged the skin is. But for me and the rest of those who have been dependent on chemicals trying to clear our faces that have tried this, the best way to make sure no irritation happens is not even let water touch our faces.
And do you know approximately how long it would take for it to get back to that healthy face....
-Again, depending on how damaged the skin is. The normal skin renewal cycle is 27 days, so we assume approximately a month before seeing positive changes. If severely damaged, then the longer healing it needs just like any other wounds we get.
and how would you know its at that stage of healthiness? sorry for like 3 questions in a row!!
-We can assume healthiness is achieved when the flaking stops. Or if after a month you wash your face gently and if no irritation is observed then it is good to say that it is healthy at that time.
I'll be here for the next 20 days or so and if this is successful, I do not know if I will still linger on this forum. But I'll make a blog with this information I have gathered to inform more people. I feel and hope that success for me is on it's way. And finally a potent solution to counter acne problem out there.
I'd just like to clear up a misperception that people in 3rd world countries don't use cleansers or skin care products. I lived in a developing country for four years. Face washes of all sorts were readily and cheaply available. Everyone I knew used some sort of face wash and or scrub, even the men. The heat, dust and pollution made it necessary to wash your face frequently. If face wash wasn't used, soaps were definately used. Harsh soaps too. You'd even see street people lathering themselves in soap and washing it off. As for rural and tribal people who don't have access to commercial products, they used natural products. Yogurt, gram flour and turmeric are commonly used to wash the face. Milk, butter, aloe vera, sandlewood, oils and even cow urine are used for skin treatments.
Many people in 3rd world countries do have acne. And many who use harsh soap and scrubs do not. I've seen it go both ways. I think acne is more genetic. Or one could argue that it's the diet. Perhaps people in the 3rd world (in rural rather then urban areas) are less likely to consume all the chemicals and perservatives and unhealthy foods in their diet, less meat too, perhaps that affects thier skin.
If not using water works for you, then that's really great, just don't think that people in 3rd world countries all have clear skin and they don't use products on their faces.
1) Why no water? What about it irritates?2) Can this be used for body acne at all? Would that mean you couldn't take showers?
Because a damaged skin can't even take on the little to no irritation that water brings. And in some places, water is chlorinated which certainly would affect a damaged skin. About bacne, what I did is not to use soap but still run through water to it. So far, my bacne is drying up.

Dude, I also live in a third world country so I know where your coming from. I also know that lots of people use harsh soaps but not break out. But did they use some sort of chemical such as BP to their faces, the same way most of us did? Of course, I don't think that way because I see and observe it firsthand.
i have a suggestion! try eskinol with dalacin c in it. 75ml eskinol + dalacin c capsule. mix it and shake it before use. i'm sure your flakiness will never comes back and no more break outs! after doing this no water regimen for 2 days. i cant help to wash my face and i wash it with mild soap w/ water. i'm very irritated w/ the flakes so i decided to wash my face every day w/ soap & water 1x a day. but the flakiness still comes back and it is very itchy, itchiness= break out again. some one told me to apply eskinol w/ dalacin c and it is very effective, im doing this for 1 week. from 60% clear to 95% because i have 4 white heads on my nose and 1 pimple in my right jaw. try this if you feel dirty in doing this regimen.....
Morning: mild soap+water
Eskinol w/ dalacin c
Evening: Dont wash ur face, use only eskinol cleanser w/ dalacin c.
you can buy dalacin c in the nearest drugstore.
I've had the best experience with "natural" and "holistic" treatments. If I were to try this, I would modify it to washing my face morning and night with jojoba oil followed by ACV toner. This is what works for me (and it is about as natural and balanced as I can seem to get a regimen. Water actually seems to be the biggest culprit in my situation. Recently I switched to city water and that is when all my problems came about. The only reason I would use these two things is to remove the makeup on my face, which I am not willing to sacrifice wearing due to recent scars from my horrible experience. Do you think these two products are safe/will do the job? Or do you recommend something else instead to remove makeup? (I am certainly not going to let it sit on my face )
So i been doing this for a few days now and the flakiness is bad as expected and no new acne just old ones but i am getting little red blotches that kinda look like acne is that normal?
hey thatguy123 yea its been like 5 days for me and new new really bad breaouts, just a couple of zits but i have the same red blotchy lumps on my chin its really weird
You two, I have those blotches too. They will stay that way until they flake away. Mine took 5 days to fully disappear on my cheeks. Now some are on my forehead and I'm simply waiting for it to disappear.
if flakiness doesn't go away after 27 days, I'd give your suggestion a shot. Btw, what is the exact name of eskinol?
im not sure if this is for me i think i may have another problem besides acne i mean i have no new acne forming which to me proves i dont need anything for it but my right cheek is really blotchy red like you cant feel anything there its not acne it looks like rosacea or something? im not sure but its making me look worse then the acne itself. Im going to wait a few more days to see if it goes away i hope it does cause i really think this will heal my acne along with my diet because food does break me out but i know which kinds im allergic to. Ill keep updating

I know the feeling man, I'm going through the exact same thing. We are so used to having acne that it seems a more normal part of life than these dead skin cells, flaking, blotchy red and all that comes wit this. This is affecting me more in the mind that physical though. It makes me want to not go to school and I can't even stare in the eyes of another person anymore. I think I should have just done this during summer vacation but I'm in 2 weeks already so just gonna push it for another 2 weeks. I hope something changes that is heart lifting that would at least let me socialize properly.
Dude, check if your blotchy red patch start to flake, if it does then just like mine that would disappear in 5 days or so of flaking.
yeh i think i made myself develop dermatitis over the years i think i have to stop doing this my acne was never bad in the first place but this redness is too much its not a dry flakey redness its just plain redness and its starting to burn so i think ill hav to stop it sucks cause it did help with acne oh well
My diet consist of meat(lean), bread, rice, fish and vegetables every now and then. And no supplements.
Yeah, you probably have to stop. I didn't experienced redness so I can't comment on that.
Anyway, update on my progress:
I was doing pretty well on my case, but I can't take any longer the constant thought of having dead skin on the face while talking to people. I know they don't care but still. Doing this while going to school is definitely hard.
Oiliness in the first 2-3 days then subsided in 4-5 days. Clogged pores with sebum sticking out everywhere. No breakouts happened in my two weeks. A couple of pimple here and there but they disappear fast and that's it. My faced developed a dead skin mask all over and it catches the dirt instead of the new healthy skin below. Red blotchy patches appeared on cheeks and forehead then flakes after a day until they disappear. Irritating shaving on my chin also developed red blotchy patches.
At the 2 weeks mark or 14th day, I decided to tweak my regimen and decided to go a I am Snow's approach. That is to live life as if I have no acne. I took a bath letting water run through my face yesterday and scrape off the dead skin left using my fingernails as gently as I can. I am so glad with what it revealed: a healthy smooth clear skin. Though I believe that if I was only able to stick it out for another 2 weeks then the red marks might be gone as well. Gonna give this another shot on summer vacation if ever I'm free at that time and if I am Snow's approach doesn't work out. As of now still no breakouts, fading red marks and a little flaking on my chin. Gonna stay away from this forum for a while to work with I am Snow's approach. This site constantly reminds me of acne.
Gonna report when I feel like it.
@wapak....
aw man im a little disappointed. u can't give up now.
Sometimes things goes like what the f*ck. But, oh well, I'm back! I just discovered I am Snow's approach to be still too harsh for my recovering skin due to the chlorinated tap water in our area.
After washing my face with water for 2 days, I have stopped completely washing again.
But it seems washing my face after 2 weeks seems to do good! My face is looking better for me, with little flaking on cheeks, nose, eyebrows and forehead. But a lot of itchy flaking of red blotchy marks on my chin. Things seems to be going for the better!
day 48....the places where dead skin was "pasted on" my face is starting to flake off. Temples, side of cheeks, mustache area, lower chin are back to normal (no flaking, no dead skin). Red marks still fading....prolly will take a few more months to completely heal the red marks (but thats no biggie, i just wanna get rid of this dead, flakey skin!)
