Tash: Of course, you can start at 2-3gr/day and then ramp-up slowly.I started at 5gr/day...and have come down to 2.5gr-3gr/day.I am positive that 2-3gr will certainly keep the oil off your face.I have seen remarkable results. My face was so damn oily before....the reducing of oil has been the biggest plus after starting B5.Good luck...and do let us know your results.
Thanks b5acneout!
I have never taken b5 before, but I really want to start taking it for my oily skin! It's so oily and it's driving me crazy.
I am planning to not overdose but take 1000-2000mg daily (spread throughout the day) and because of my low dose, do you think it will be able to control my oily skin?
As soon as I start taking it, I'll keep updating here.

Pam: what irony...huh?)From not wanting any oil...to gimme more oil:-)).Your derm can hopefully give you some prescription based moisturizer.Check it out.Its not any sorta allergy,is it?Good luck to you.
Thanks for your advice b5acneout but ive tried endless moisturizers, they are just not helpng and if they was they'd just be a temporary fix.I know my problems internal due to megadosing b5.I must have dosed for too long,my fault. Thanks anyway,ur help is appreciated
Do you think it has the same effect as Zinc? Because I've been on Zinc for about 3 days (today is my fourth day), and I'm experiencing a BAD breakout all over my face. A doctor once told me that its best to treat your acne from inside so I guess it'll eventually work. To be able to bear with this seems pretty "heartbreaking" for me. Should I continue?
Shinshin123--good luck.I never had a breakout due to zinc. But you never know.
Strato--no idea,maan.Why the powder and not the tabs?Whatever works..right?)
Herez an update on day 29.
Oiliness is a thing of the past.I can stay almost 10 hours without washing/wiping my face--and still there is no oil.Its not even flaky dry...its just normal.Continuing with 3gr/day dosage.
A couple of breakouts last week....they haven't gone out of control yet.Small and manageable,i hope.I need to strictly maintain a diet log--as i feel it is strongly connected with whatever i consume.I have not been very disciplined with my diet--lotsa junk, pizza, fatty snacks etc.
Still spot treating with Clearasil. No big lesions or anything that makes me conscious.
Lets see how the next week goes. Will surely maintain a log and try to correlate.
Thats all....have a great next week y'all.
ciao

My country has some rule that B5 capsules higher and equal to 500mg are considered medicine and meds can't be bought online, so I had to order the power form. I should receive it soon. I can just scoop 4000mg at once. I don't really care about the taste, it can't be worse than my smoothies with onion or ACV, right.
I'm planning to take 5g for several days and if I don't get results, I'll double it.

It's possible that you were zinc deficient, and taking it gave you a horrmone surge. Hopefully, things will get better when your body adjust. Keep me updated!
How dangerous are these levels of B5?
On the product reviews page, there are a lot of good reviews on the first page, but if you scale back, their are probably even more scary claims.
I just received my B5 powder (500g).
I couldn't find the scoop at first, so I took one teaspoon of it which equals to 6g! I took 6g on the first day LOL.
This stuff is so disgusting, I take back what I said about my smoothies and ACV, B5 by far is the most disgusting thing I've tasted. Oh well.
I've been on it for about one month now, figured it wouldn't hurt to try it
B-5 500mg = 10 - 20 a Day, usually just do 10.
B Complex = 2 a Day
It's helped me out a lot and my skin now has the least amount of oil/acne ever. I didn't start seeing results until about two weeks in and at first I did see a minor break out, but now I'm pretty clear. One thing to note and I remember seeing someone else mentioned it, keep your hands away from your face and don't scratch or pick period. It takes what seems slightly longer for cuts to heal.
Hey guys! I can personally highly recommend vitamin B5 powder! I have had very ordinary skin for some time now but when I was on this vitamin (~8g a day - but didn't completely stick to a strict regime) I couldn't get a pimple on my face if it tried! I actually use to pick at my face for fun to see if a pimple would develop! The only slight side-effect I personally experienced at the time was slight diarrhoea but that was not a worry in the world if it meant having the skin that I did!...I have currently not been taking vitamin B5 for about a year and a half as my major source in Australia is unavailable, and subsequently my skin has returned back to its ordinary appearance again. Thus, I was wondering if anyone knew of any good places in Australia or reliable websites to order vitamin B5 powder as purchasing tablets in Australia is not very economical? Any recommendations would be highly appreciated!!! If you have any questions about my experience please post and I'll try my best to reply! Cheers, Daniel

I started taking B5 powder 4 days ago. I took 4-6 grams on the first day and since I didn't see any results within a few days I decided to increase the dosages to 8 grams a day (4 in the morning and 4 at night). No effects so far, hoping to see some when it has been a week.
How long did it take to start working for you? And did you take all at once or divide the dosages into smaller dosages and take with every meal or what?
I ordered mine from ebay from this seller:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=310129584629
They also have a internet shop. I strongly recommend them, good support and they help you in case you run in trouble with the customs.

Ah cheers mate for the link! To be honest with you I can't remember how long it took for it to take effect as it was some time ago however give it at least or month or 2 as it wouldn't be expected to take effect straight away, however when it did start working it was fabulous! As for dosage I tended to spread it out 3 times per day (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and added a teaspoon of powder which i dissolved in boiling water before adding some orange juice to try and disguise the taste (yuck!!!). I tended to get quite lazy after a while with dosage but it didnt seem to have too many problems. The one main thing I'm a bit apprehensive about is some of the unknown long-term side-effects I've read in discussions here and there but I'm planning on having a chat to a doctor to see what their viewpoint is...but from my own knowledge normally when vitamins are taking in excess they are just excreted in the urine (hence u may have darker than normal urine). But keep at it champ and hope you have fabulous results like I did and thanks once again for the link!!! Cheers!
I think I might try B5.. I'm already taking Zinc, which is also good for skin and it's repair. I know there is no way I'd ever try Accutane. I already have a lot of health problems that give me a higher chance of it being dangerous to me. Though, I wouldn't take it even if I had less chance of it causing severe problems. But, each to their own..
thanks for the puritan link! WAY less expensive than most places online, I found ebay was good too but not as good.
Do you have to take the 10 grams a day? Would it work with 5 grams? Even when ordered from puritan I find this really expensive since I live in canada and the shipping sucks.
Does anyone know if a 5 gram or even a 1 gram a day B5 regiment works?
Thought i'd just add my support for the B5 regimen. Been taking B5 for nearly 2 years now at 10g/day and don't get oily skin/acne any more. Post-accutane, my oily skin and acne started to come back so I tried B5 and never looked back. Make of this what you will, but I would at least recommend trying B5 to see if it works for you. I take the capsules 10 in the morning and 10 at night.
How does anyone afford this? It would cost a ridiculous amount to keep it up at 10 grams a day. Seems like at least 50 dollars a month!
Approximately 23 for me delivered from the US to the UK.
I used to spend more than that on cleansers and other supplements before, so for me I'm actually spending less.
