I cant stress enough, i was REALLY oily about 2 days ago, i mean if someone took a flash photo of my forehead about a week ago my forehead would shine so bright because there was just so much oil there its not even funny. Right now i am normal oily, and thats a damn impressive improvement from just taking a few b complex a day (100mg of B5 per pill)
CAN SOMEONE BREAK THIS DOWN FOR ME?
Deficiency in Lipid Metabolism
In linking the pathogenesis of acne vulgaris to a deficiency in lipid metabolism and pantothenic acid, it is worthwhile to remember that fatty acid metabolism is not the sole domain of pantothenic acid. There are some other essential dietary factors that are also of importance in the same process. Together they form a system that will make the whole metabolic process as efficient as possible. Preliminary studies by the author suggest that, together with pantothenic acid, biotin as well as nicotinamide help to further improve the therapeutic results. By themselves alone, they are far less effective in helping acne patients than with pantothenic acid, and this serves to support the suggestion that pantothenic acid plays a central role in lipid metabolism. Lipid metabolism is a complicated process, and is often intertwined with other metabolic processes, sharing with them common coenzymes in widely different reactions. When there is an increase in level of some of these coenzymes, there may be a shift in the directions of some ongoing reactions, and may affect lipid metabolism as a result. This can manifest clinically as acne vulgaris. To illustrate this, there are reports showing that acne may be induced by administration of large doses of vitamin B12 alone or in combination with B6. Cessation of the administration of these vitamins will bring a halt to the acne eruptions. If the body is in a relative deficiency state in B6 and B12, administration of the vitamins will enhance the reactions that involve the participation of these vitamins. This will set up a chain of events, some of which entail the participation of pantothenic acid. With the total pantothenic acid pool fixed relative to an increase in other vitamins, emphasis of any reaction involving pantothenic acid will automatically mean a cutting back on other reactions that require it as a coenzyme. This will often include those involving lipid metabolism, resulting in a certain degree of deficiency in that metabolic process, hence the increased incidence of acne vulgaris in these studies.
DO THEY MEAN IF YOU LACK B6 and B12 YOU WILL GET ACNE?
I think it is saying that if you lack B6 and B12 the effectiveness of B5 will not be as ... effective?
idn.
So I think someone should dumb this down for me. I didn't want to go through 80 pages
Do I have to take 10 pills a day then 20 pills a day. - Is that the only way it will work?
Is this OK to take with amoxicillin? I take it twice a day.
If I do this should I get the B complex or whatever it is called?

for the first 2 days of the regimen, you take 10 pills a day, then after that you should be taking the full 20 every day for 3 months then after that you can quit the B5 cold turkey, but i recommend not doing that...i recommend you still continue to take a few pills a day otherwise the risk of the acne returning is a lot higher.
i strongly recommend a B complex vitamin, because without it you may not see results as quickly, or at all.
& i am not sure about the amoxicillin, sorry.
ok thanks.so I won't see results unless I do the 20 every day for 3 months?
everyone is different, but i saw results after only 3 weeks.
but i know that once the 3 month deadline is up, my skin will be pretty clear cause right now id say my skin is 95% clear, but i do still have red marks that are slowly fading.
(also, try not to pick when on B5, it seems to prolong red marks, more so than normal)

have u experienced any hairloss thus far?
Any others experience with the time-released pills? Seems alot easier to only have to take 2-4 grams a day. I just bought some Clear 5 in both pill (500 mg with a little biotin and zinc) and liquid form (liquid is already 2grams per tbsp), but the pills are time released. They say it works better because your body doesn't waste a whole bunch like when you mega dose. 6 pills a day. They are a VERY basic money back guarantee, so it won't hurt me to try. I like the site better than others, because the guy seems like Dan and openly talks with people about it via email and blogs about different things acne related, so I know he actually cares and isn't just out to make cash.
Any comments on the time released formula? I've read a few but there aren't too many.

Avoid time released B complex. Vitamin B3 (niacin) can cause liver damage in time release form.
Just because they sell it doesn't make it safe! What you don't know can kill you
Time released B-5, not B-Complex.
Here's a few things from the site I bought from and from others about the time released b5:
Other B5 regimens require 10 grams a day to be effective. How can you promise the same results with an average of only 2-3 grams a day?
Because of methods that Clear5 uses to deliver the vitamins to your body. Your body can only absorb a limited amount from typical vitamin tablets or capsules at a given time, and the excess vitamin B5 ends up getting flushed right out of you. We solve this problem by using time-released tablets which gradually deliver the B5 over a period of about 6 hours, or through using a liquid vitamin supplement that has a much higher bioavailability than standard (dry) vitamins. Thus, we are able to offer a treatment that provides all the benefits of mega-dosing, without all the hassle.
In my case, I could probably take the B-Complex if at the same time if wanted to though, because of the time released b-5 I will be taking. If we believe the article above, it says that interference and deficencies are far less likely to occur when taking the time released B5 because the B-5 is getting better absorbed in the intestine while the other vitamins we take (non time released) will be being absorbed in the stomach. Because of that, the receptors don't have to compete to absorb both the complex and the B5 since they are being absorbed in different parts of the body.
Edit: I'm still going to spread it out a hour or two just to be safe.
should i be taking the b-100 and biotin at the same time as the b5 or at different times? also how much biotin should i be taking with it? i have heard that you should take 5 mg with each dose 4 times a day.
From everything i've read you should be taking it at a different time. Assuming none of your pills are time released, they are all being absorbed by receptor molecules in your stomach (as opposed to the ones in your small intestine when you take time released). When you take all of the pills at the same time, those receptor molecules can only absorb so much (depending on your body) so some of the effect is lessened due to the receptors competing for each of the vitamins. The only reference to an exact amount of time I have seen is from one source that mentioned at least an hour between (though I would shoot for two or three personally just to be safe).
if im on the acne.org regimen using a gentle cleaner, Bp, and a moisturizer along with doxycylcine so that my face is already non-oily what benefits will taking a pantothenic acid supplement have for me. My acne is not inflamed and im hoping the pantothenic acid wont just further increase my dryness. Please help! Thanks
i bought time released.......does that mean i should be taking less? ........ what happens if i still take 20?
apparently time released is absorbed much better... I heard 2-3 grams of time absorbed works just as well as 10 grams of non-time absorbed
Ive been doing 8 of the time absorbed just because though, I know some people knock out 20 grams a day of regular b5... that equals up to a little over 20 on the day.
I just started yesterday with the time-released (clear 5) so I can give some updates. As the above poster said, a smaller amount of the time released should be close to 10grams of B5 so i'm taking what the bottle recommends plus a little extra of the liquid I bought.
7 AM- Stress B-Complex with added Vitamin C and Zinc (NON-time released) with an Apple
9AM- 2 (500 mg) time released pills with breakfast
2 PM- 2 (500 mg) time released pills with fruit.
7 pm- 2 (500 mg) time released pills with snack.
11pm or 12 AM...right before bed - 1 teaspoon (a little over a gram of liquid B5 to give me a quick boost before bed)
Just figured out my B50 I was taking is in tablet form, meaning it's likely time released like my clear5 (which you aren't supposed to take with other time released pills or they might interfere). So I bought capsules instead today . Shouldn't be a big problem, but i'm just a little ticked that I probably took 4 days worth of B5 at a reduced absorption rate.
