Hey. Ive just got my B5, but I need perfect (well not perfect, but good) skin in 34 days, and many people have had breakouts after that they have used B5  . So, for you guys who have used B5, how long did it take until your acne was gone?

My acne isnt that bad, and I could probably survive if my skin isnt perfect in 34 days, but if it gets worse, then Im just gonna use B5 after 34 days >_<.

Thanks

Greetings. I've been on b5 for SIX YEARS. I started with two grams per day; I'd say I've averaged 6g per day for the duration. I've been taking 7.5g for the past two months, as I was experiencing the worst breakouts in years, so I increased the dosage to positive results.

Anyway, I've been reading the comments here; most users don't seem to take b5 for more than a year. I've become concerned about the possible effects of my extended use, especially at such a high dosage. So I'm going to drop back down to 2g per day and eventually come off completely for the first time since I started. I'll let you know how it works out.

Anyone else on b5 for a lengthy period?

IAve been wondering that to. But I think that they only have powder and capsulas, I think it is easier to use liquid form. My brother tested vitamin B5 in powderform and he thought it was hard to swallow. It tasted awful! But now he use liquid form and is satisfied with that.

"The vitamin B-complex refers to all of the known essential water-soluble vitamins except for vitamin C. These include thiamine (vitamin B1), riboflavin (vitamin B2), niacin (vitamin B3), pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), pyridoxine (vitamin B6), biotin, folic acid and the cobalamins (vitamin B12).

"Vitamin B" was once thought to be a single nutrient that existed in extracts of rice, liver, or yeast. Researchers later discovered these extracts contained a few vitamins, which were given distinguishing numbers. Unfortunately, this has led to an erroneous belief among non-scientists that these vitamins have a special relationship to each other. Further adding to confusion has been the "unofficial" designation of other substances as members of the B-complex, such as choline, inositol, and para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), even though they are not essential vitamins.

Each member of the B-complex has a unique structure and performs unique functions in the human body. Vitamins B1, B2, B3, and biotin participate in different aspects of energy production, vitamin B6 is essential for amino acid metabolism, and vitamin B12 and folic acid facilitate steps required for cell division. Each of these vitamins has many additional functions. However, contrary to popular belief, no functions require all B-complex vitamins simultaneously.

Human requirements for members of the B-complex vary considerablyafrom 3 mcg per day for vitamin B12 to 18 mg per day for vitamin B3 in adult males, for example. Therefore, taking equal amounts of each oneaas provided in many B-complex supplementsamakes little sense. Furthermore, there is little evidence supporting the use of megadoses of B-complex vitamins to combat everyday stress, boost energy, or control food cravings, unless a person has a deficiency of one or more of them. Again, contrary to popular belief, there is no evidence indicating people should take all B vitamins to avoid an imbalance when one or more individual B vitamin is taken for a specific health condition.

Most multivitamin-mineral products contain the B-complex along with the rest of the essential vitamins and minerals. Since they are more complete than B-complex vitamins alone, multiple vitamin-mineral supplements are recommended to improve overall micronutrient intake and prevent deficiencies.

Are there any side effects or interactions?

Vitamin B-complex includes a few different components, each of which has the potential to interact with drugs. It is recommended that you discuss the use of vitamin B-complex and your current medication(s) with your doctor or chemist."

thought i'd share my personal B5 story with you guys.

i bought a bottle of Pantothenic acid from Swanson vitamins online. I only took 2 g (4 pills) per day, along with a B-100 complex, to see how I would react. I had an initial mild non-inflammatory breakout during the first week, but that slowly cleared up. After about a month, my skin was at about the same place as before i had started the supplements, but I had unnerving side effects: primarily fatigue, but also hunger (especially sugar cravings), as well as some slight dizziness and depressive symptoms. So I stopped last week -- the minimal benefit was definitely not worth messing with my head! Granted, I was only taking 2 g/day rather than the recommended 10, so B5 may have helped my acne at a higher dose -- but i would imagine the side effects would only increase.

this is from personal experience last year having been exposed to the possibility of clearing my acne out for good I thought hey why not give it a try. A very bad choice. I should have never done it. And now this is me being honest. I am not trying to sell any products. I am just here to warn people that b5 could possibly damage you for life. I of all people should know. I've had such horrible symptoms my stomach doesn't feel well for that whole summer and a bit of spring of 07 when I first started doing the 10 gram stuff. My liver or whatever it was was in constant pain. or my kidney I don't know even maybe my intestine. I just wasn't feeling good at all. I stopped and went back to eating antibiotics for acne. I started up the b5 crap again recently and I have to say I've probably damaged my body so much I could possibly die. That's all I think about nowadays when I might in fact die from this drug overdose of b5. Don't do it. It's not worth it. Even with accutane and it's side effects at least you know about those and the doctor can help you somewhat even if that doctor's shitty. With b5 it's a experiment and experiment with no one helping you with besides going through the trial and tribulations yourself. If I would have done it over I'd rather taken antibiotics or even accutane. Just not the b5 it's a horror story I've heard of so many and at first I thought it wouldn't happen to me and now it has. And I don't even know how to begin to heal my liver or whatever is hurting so badly from the overdose of b5.

Thanks for the post "find_myself." Sorry to hear this screwed up your system.

Honestly guys, what the hell can we do anymore. Everything's a risk, even if the risks are known. Do we take B-Complex? No one seems to know how the B vitamins work together (if they really do at all).

Tane or b5... I think I'll stick with the b5 seeing as 5 grams has had no side-effects with a few weeks use. I'm even considering upping my dosage to 10 g because my stupid face is so oily.

I've had very little side effects on 10 grams.

"find myself" - how did you know you got a problem with your liver? What side effects were you expiriencing?

O.k that person is kinda freaking me out!!!! I'm on my third week. I don't have many side effects and I'm taking 10 grams. I've gotten 2 headaches in a three week span. It upset my stomach when I first started but now I feel fine. I'm still breaking out so I'm hoping this will stop soon. I think I'm going to continue for the full 3 month term. How long did it take u guys to get clear???? I don't think this can be that bad cause once you're clear u will be taking a lot less.

The only thing I have to say to you is that you should continue!!

I'm also on ten grams a day and is into my fourth week.

I've never heard about anyone else that has fucked up there liver from taking B5. On the other side there is a risk of side effects, but what the fuck, almost every treatment has those.

I agree I think everything has it's risk just keep going if it works for you. Honestly we probably will get no break from this crap until in the future which who knows when that will be. For now all we can do is experiment. I honestly don't discourage you from trying this is what happened to me. Quite possibly it might not happen to you. I'm just giving my experience.

I took it over the summer for maybe about 2 months? Maybe more maybe three I just know by the time august came around I started to lower my dosage as it was making my stomach area and intestinal area feel sickly just in general the areas around my stomach. Those areas felt very sore. I've felt really weird during that time...around my stomach and intestines. It just didn't feel right.

Honestly though I think you should go with what you want. I'm still finding a way to cure my acne and honestly I haven't found it yet so everytime I try something I'm risking myself. I'm gonna probably throw out the rest of the b5 so I don't just suddenly let myself eat it again. For my own sake. If it works for you then why not. I can't speak for anyone besides myself on the effects. It might not happen to you. I have heard all kinds of stories but I still went ahead and did it. I've heard wonderful stories of people getting clear from it as well. So I don't know it happens differently for different people.

Hi,

My name is Lisa and I just signed up today. I wanted to get involved in the discussion about derma rollers for removing scars, but saw this discussion and thought I would throw in my 2 cents. I have had acne of one degree or another since about age 8. At 18 severe cystic. (which left me with all the scars) Did the dermatologist from about 15 to 30. Acutane 3 times and so on. A few years ago I did discover B5 Clearskin and it's been the BEST working thing for me ever. ( for acne) It did take a little longer to kick in than it states on the website but mine was a tough case so no big deal. I do also have to take a little more than they state for maintenence.. again... FINE with me! I've had NO side effects whatsoever, been using for at least 3 years I'd say. I will continue for sure! As long as I need it.

Ok, now on to the discussion on scar removal! :)

I have checked with a physician everything seems alright but I don't feel fine.

I don't know what it is anymore.

I have to get a sonogram to confirm. It's a weird pain. I have pains more towards the side of my stomach and so forth. It stopped during the last summer after I stopped the medication but...recently after I stopped it didn't go away.

Hopefully it's nothing and I'm just worrying.

I'd say just do what you think is best for you. Remember it is your choice. And even if what happens to others which I've heard really terrible stories of b5 it didn't happen to me. The really bad ones that is. And the thing is that it could possibly be that it'll never happen to you. So you should not be worried it's more of a precaution so that you know that it could happen. You never know just like some people took it longer than me and never had any problems. It all depends.

Hey everyone,

I've been on B5 for a month so far. First few days I took 2.5 g, then 5 g for 3 weeks, and I've been on 7g for a week.

Results? I have yet to see any effect at all on my oil production! All I use is sensitive skin cleansers and such... How frustrating. As far as the acne goes, I *think* it's helped slightly, but not enough to parade in the streets about. I will say I do feel less stressed out because of it, which is pretty cool.

As far as the side affects... Practically none for me! Slightly softer stool, but that's it!

I'm debating bumping this up to 10 g so that my oil production will actually go down? Any thoughts?

I've been on b5 for 14 days now. First 3 days at 5g and then 10g each day. My acne has actually worsened since being on it, so I'm a little discouraged. My current supplement routine is:

Morning:

3.5g b5

1 b50 complex

Afternoon:

3g b5

500mg vitamin c

50mg zinc

Evening:

3.5g b5

1 b50 complex

500mcg biotin

any suggestions on tweaking it? or should I just keep plowing through? Do many people experience an initial breakout? Mine began on day 3, and I've been getting big painful nodules which I never get, so I'm a little distraught to say the least
