to Naehmah, i would recommend easing up on the products. for a while i used BP, SA, and tretinoin along side various spot treatments while on b5. i found that all those products heavily irritated my skin even though i thought that they were helping. if b5 is to work, it will do it on its own. i now use cetaphil, which is a very light ph balanced face wash, steaming of my face, and complex-15 face moisturizer. i have found that being gentle on my skin works alot better.

5)DONT WORRY ABOUT THE EFFECTS OF B5 LONG TERM. B5 IS A WATER SOLUBLE VITAMIN AND YOU CANNOT HARM YOUR BODY. I KNOW PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN TAKING IT FOR YEARS AND ARE STILL ALIVE !!! HA HA.. SORRY SICK SENSE OF HUMOUR.
[...]
That fact that vitamin b5 is a water soluble vitamin, does not imply that it cannot cause any side effects. Taking large doses of a single vitamin can cause malabsorptions of other nutrients. This is one way of how a megadose of B5 can harm your body when using a megadose on a long term.
And yes, some people do not experience any side effects, but that does not imply that they won't experience side effects in the future. It also does not imply that other people won't experience side effects.
If I only have 2-3 active zits on my face all the time, shouldnt I just take a much lower dosage than the 10 g.........like wouldnt 3-5 be good enough? My acne is OK, noy severe at all, but just the average 2-3 active zits which are really small. What do you guys think?
Thanks a TON!
ok so here i been reading up on all of this and basically im going for it. asked my dad and he said 0k.
first i need to get vit b5 "Pantothenic Acid" ill probly get it a rite-aid its $10 for 100 caps. 500mg.each
i need 2grams for the first 3 days.
then after i need 10grams a day. which is 20 caps.
so 5days=$10 so about $60 for a month.
but i need b-complex to? $10 for 100caps. last for 100days right? if i get b-complex 100
anyways. i wanted to know how i should split it up? like 20 a day.
like 5 at 6:00 AM then 5 at 10:00 AM then 5 2:00 PM then 5 at 6:00PM
???????? is that good?
anyone that has taking b5 to help acne..could u suggest anything or help me out b4 i go out and buy it.
has anyone tried the coenzyme A master enzyme formula by Coenzyme-A technology Coenzyme A
The formula used in the master enzyme is supposed to grant a huge boost in general health and well being.
They claim that taking two of these a day will grant greater results than those taking 10-20g of pantothenic acid a day because of a balanced combination of the chemicals needed to produce coenzyme A. The full report can be read in the above link.
If this is true taking only 2 of the tablets should prove much more cost effective and possibly safer than taking high doses of panto acid. Plus a boost in energy levels and much much more health benefits are suggested.
I am currently waiting on a delivery of some bottles and will let you all know on the results after a few months.

look into Vilante evolution X. It's B5 and it's balanced with all the B vitamins and zinc and biotin that you need. It's around $40 for a one month supply. This is what I use. It has improved the oilyness in my sking by around 50% and no more huge cysts.
Hey guys, been on b5 (10g) for 3 days no......any idea when i will stop having chronic diarrhea?! Or will it never go away when im on b5?-kinda hard having to make sure wherever you go, theres a toilet close by!!
Im also taking biotin, vit c and bcomplex 100.
Thanks for your help x
B5 overdosing is classic medical quackery. Any medical study that's worth anything has to be a double blind placebo controlled trial. For those who don't know what that means, you split the volunteers into two groups and give one of them the medication you think will help them and the other group something you don't expect to help them (the placebo). The volunteers should not of course know whether they've been given the proper medication or the placebo but those doing the study shouldn't know either (double blind). You know the medication works if those taking the real medicine responded better than those taking the placebo. The infamous B5 study (there's only been one!) was NOT a double blind placebo controlled trial so it's completely worthless. What makes it even more worthless is that at the same time as overdosing on B5 the volunteers were also putting B5 cream on their skin, so no one knows whether it was the pills or the cream that made the difference.
The only other "evidence" we have that B5 works are claims by posters on Internet forums that it works. But any sort of quack medicine has its Internet supporters claiming it cured them. Also, sadly these forums are used by companies marketing B5 as "proof" that it works, so how do we know the marketers themselves are not posting? I've seen one "I was cured in 3 days, it's a miracle!" type post too many to believe them any more.
I have been on Vitamin b5 now for one month. sorry to say that it has had no affect so far, taking 20 tablets (10mg) a day of the stuff. has anyone else not experienced any improvement until after the initial month is over, or shud i just give up trying now ?
Is it really necessary to take a megadose (20g) of b5 everyday? I have been using 5g for about a week and my skin seems much drier and my pimples are drying out. Are you taking a multivitamin too?

Thank god you posted, not sure what we'd do w/o your wisdom

hahahaah yeaaaaahhhh definitely worthless... i cant believe you spent all that time to type that, b5 reduced my oil production. who are you trying to convince?
Why the rudeness, sarcasm and hostility? How about showing some manners? Great, you say it worked for you. It doesn't work for others and there's no medical evidence that it works.
I don't see any hostility or rudeness???, just a little sarcasm, that's all. You called it quackery, which seems sorta rude, ya think?? Who are you to offer that up? Are you a doctor? It works for some, and for other's it doesn't work. Hmmmm, sounds like just about every acne treatment ever imagined, so give it a rest.....
It doesn't take much of an effort just to be polite. I referred to "medical quackery" which isn't rude because I wasn't referring to any poster on this board. Any medicine that is unsupported by scientific evidence is quackery. There are hundreds of studies proving bp, antibiotics, roaccutane etc work. There isn't one proper medical study showing Vitamin B works.

But I don't want to deal with the side effects of BP, accutane or anti-biotics.
B5 is simple, much cheaper than prescriptions especially when you add in the office visits, probably at least as safe or safer than accutane etc.
There are more people saying it works on other sites too and they aren't all in the business of selling vitamins.
It's wortha try, IMO. So I started last week.
im almost done with the first bottle. which has 300caps. so im on day 16 i think?
anyways its going decent about 4 days ago i br0ke out kinda bad i have had worse cuz they were big pimples but this was just a lot of small ones. so i dunno kinda cleared up a little had 2 pimples this morning nothing to bad. but i tihnk its still purging. so ima stick with it for at least 3 months:)

I'm only taking 5g/day and I had my first breakout since I started B5. My skin is still getting pretty oily but it takes longer to reach that stage. SHould I up my dosage?
I looke dup 'overdose on pantothenic acid' on the internet and I came a cross this :
http://www.digitalnaturopath.com/treat/T47841.html
at the bottom of the first section, it says about taking very high doses eg 10000mg/day for years... but we're taking 20000mg/day! That a shit load!!
I know we're only meant to take it for 3 months, but still, that is a really excessive dosage!
Opinions?
