Answers to a lot of your questions are already covered in the topic somewhere, for those of you just discovering the whole B5 subject.
Basically, taking all this B5 is a bit taxing on the system if it's taken alone and all at once. For people just starting out I would recommend starting very slowly (I started with 3g/day for a week, moved up to 4g for a week, and am now staying at 6g). I also spread them out during the day - a quarter of how many you are taking for the day each at breakfast, lunch, dinner, and before bed.
The B-Complex helps to absorb the B5 into your system, otherwise you'll be deficiant in the other B vitamins and you'll pee most of it out.
As for cramping, bathroom issues, sluggishness, etc, I always take the pills with a meal to help them absorb easier. I skip breakfast a lot, so I'll take the first dose with a glass of milk.
Hope that helps...
by the way, i need to know something... i just finished my accutane course 2 weeks ago and started taking b5 a week ago(1 gram a day)... how much of b complex should i be taking? and what kind of b-complex?
Giva a try to thr B5 plus a B-complex and then just listen to your body.
That is what I did, and after 2 weeks of B5 I felt always sleepy and with no strenght, so i decided to cut it off!
Probably my body couldn' t afford B5, you might be more luky then I was.
Anyhow, how was you regimen with accutane?? Did it work great? Any side effects? Why did you move away from it?
Thanks,
Andrea from Italy.
thanks snizz
giusca, my regimen with accutane was great, i never had an initial breakout(my acne is due to oil so my face started to clear up right away once i started accutane). i've been on two accutane courses. yes i had alotta side effects... very dry lips, dry skin, knee pains, depression, sleepyness, tiredness, and many more. both of my courses were 6 months each so i completed them both.

Hello
I have a few questions, I was wondering if you can answer them for me:
Ok, so, I just got off Accutane 2 weeks ago. And a week ago I started to take 1gram of B5, all at once(at night time).
1. My stomach seems to growl a lot... especially my lower stomach and it feels like i have a snake in there that's costantly moving around(lol)... yeah, i was wondering is that due to me taking all the 4 pills at once? should I spread them out? Also, I don't eat them during or after a meal or anything.
2. I also seem to have dirreah(sp)... but I read on the msg board that only those who take high doses of b5 experience it. Once again, is that normal? Will It go away?
3. I keep reading how I should be taking b-complex with b5 also? How much of it should I be taking? And just simple b-complex or what?
Thanks!!!
I got B5 super cheap - $10 a jar!!!! - here:

Although I was a big proponent of B5, I question the long term use. I personally have suffered some side effects: Mostly lack of concentration and brain fog.
The B5 did work though, but for those who feel no symptoms and are willing to go forth, here is a better site:
www.swansonvitamins.com
They have 250 500mg B5 pills for $9. Which is really good, and I could not find a better price.
So i tried taking the B5 first off i was so lethargic and depressed i was worried that i needed therapy until i realized it was the B5.
second off i don't know if it is exactly related but i took it for two weeks and for those two weeks my chiropracter was unable to crack my mid lower back which he has always been able to before. he was asking me questions about my kidneys and urination and if anything was different. he said that the lower mid back will often tighten up when there could be kidney trouble (possibly stones) i didnt tell him about the B5 cause i was afraid he would yell at me but i immediatly went off it. Next week i went in for my adjustment and i was fine. It scarred me way to much even though it did stop my oil production. so he recommended lots of water and cranberry juice just to flush them out.
thought i would share my story with u. take from it what u want.
I'm having a dilemma. I've been on the B5 for two weeks now. I started off at 3g for a week, went to 4g for 5 days, then up to 6g which I've been on since Sunday.
My skin cleared up in the past two weeks. I thought it was too good to be true and it seems it was. By Tuesday I had a group of whiteheads on my forehead and a cyst on my cheek.
Either 6g is too much for me and I should go back down to 4g, or it is working and is pushing all the bad stuff out. I just figured it would have done that by now since I'm two weeks in. And what was with the clear skin that whole time? Just a coincidence?
Any thoughts?
here a question? any one trying ramping up doses of Vitamin A (whihc is the main ingredient in Tane.
Also i have been using B50-complex time release with none of the symptoms that you guys are having and my skin is clearing. B50-complex has all the B's including b5 just a much smaller dose.

People need to get it through their head that Accutane is NOT Vitamin A, its isotretinoin.
I am starting Clear5 Vitamin B5 pills once they arrive hopefully this week I get them from this website: http://www.acne-vitamins.com/ I will most likely start a journal to record my progress.
I last took B5 about 2 years ago, I took it for about a year, initally it cleared me up fantasically but I remember it seemed to stop working after about 7-8 months when I changed the brand I was using. I am hoping th eB5 will work well again for me after I have tried so many different things over the past 2 years with no success. Even Dans regimen has faile dme after trying it several times.
Previously I used a brand called Natures Own B5 which I bought from the local health shop and took 20 pills a day, then I moved to the Acnemiracle B5 powder as it was alot cheaper and the Natures Own went out of business, I found my results were not a good with the powder thats why I stopped. I totally cleared in about 6 weeks when I first took B5, I had a horrible breakout after 4 weeks then my skin cleared brilliantly after that and was good for about a year.
