Romeo I have a few questions for you..1. How long have you been on the Omega 3 diet?
2. Has it been working and how long did it take to start working?
3. What is the condition of your skin as of today?
Before omega 3, my skin was pretty oily, but about a few weeks in, it reduced a good amount. Then about 3 months in, my oil pretty much was non existent. It was there, but so little it wasn't worth bothering with. I still get acne, but from other causes.
I've been on it since feb
After being 2 months and more on a 3.6g of omegas everyday (the GNC brand), I've yet to see much noticeable effects on my face. It's still as oily as ever, and there are still as many inflamed spots all over. Thinking of continuing for another month before giving up, or maybe it's just not for me. I eat it religiously after meals and spread it out over the course of the day. Anyone also experiencing no difference even after some time? What's your diet like? Do you eat a lot of dairy or grains?
Well my diet consists of the asian fare, which is roughly rice plus some fried foods (like fried chicken wings) and some fish/chicken meat and vegetables. I don't consume dairy products at all.
Well, I have good news and bad news.Good news is that my breakout cleared up, bad news is that I woke up this morning and all of a sudden there are DOZENS of blackheads on and around my nose area!!
This is just too weird. I went from having a baby-butt smooth and blackhead free face one day, then woke up the next and half my face feels like brail.....the worst part is I can't think of ANYTHING that could have caused this to happen. :doubt:
Phew, at least your acne cleared, is your face any less oilier? Perhaps the oil was from your monthly spike and then it went down, so when that happened the oil on your nose area oxidized and turned to blackheads (or whatever the process is)?
That could be it but I think I know what it is..........I have been using ACV toner for FOREVER and usually mix it so that it is 3/4s toner and 1/4 water but the other day I think I forgot to put the water in and so my toner was full strength ACV! :wall:
I guess it was too irritating/drying so my skin overcompensated with too much oil that resulted in blackheads? My face has been alot more red than usual so that would explain it too. I HOPE this is the reason because this is fixable.
Skin doesn't overcompensate for dryness by creating more oil. Besides, you can produce tons of oil, but as long as your skind sheds properly, you will never get acne or clogged pores. As far as the irritation and dryness goes, that could definitly cause your reaction. Dry skin doesn't shed very well, nor does irritated skin. Most likely, the extra dryness and irritation clogged your pores so the the oil cannot reach the surface quick enough, gets exposed to oxygen, and turns into blackheads.
Well, I just learned something new. Thanks!
I've been taking about 4g of fish oil a day for over a month and it was working great in the beginning but my face is starting to get really oily again. Anyone else have this problem or a solution. I'm also taking zinc.Have you made any significant changes to your diet? Any change in sleeping patterns, general activity, your overall lifestyle?
Sometimes, and I know this goes for myself too, when I feel like something is working well, I may slip in my diet and eat a few things I shouldn't have, and then see negative results afterwards.
Also, You mention you take 4g fish oil daily. The amount recommended in this thread is 4g of Omega3, not 4g fish oil. If your capsules are 1000mg fish oil, with 360mg EPA/240mg DHA (check back label), then you need to take roughly 13 or 14 capsules daily (4-5 at a time, 3 times a day) to reach 4g omega3. Remember, Omega3 = EPA + DHA. Your bottle may also say 2 capsules per serving, meaning 2 capsules = the mg shown on the back, not 1.
Sorry, I meant I've been taking 4g of omega3. I haven't made any signficant changes in my diet/lifestyle. I have been working out quite a bit so maybe that has something to do with it. It also has been fairly humid the last week or so.
ive been taking puritan pride 3-6-9 and according to this thread you should always maintain a positive balance of 3-6. What if your diet consists of only fruits and veggies fish and chicken.
the balance in chicken is slightly higher in 6 then 3 but anyway
Should i up the dosage on my 3-6-9 to see better results and take less of b5?
How do you guys feel about Nature Made Omega-3 Fish Oil 12mg supplement? Its a softgel, is this going to be just as effect as a capsule?
That is this one huh?
I used that one, and I'm sure of a couple others who have used it. It does the job. 🙂
Half off right now too!
so i dont understand anything about ratios and omega6 and how to balance it all out. And im wondering if i take 4g of omega3's everyday and not worry about the ratios will my oil still decrease dramatically?
That's been my experience. I confess to not wanting to bother with calculating the 3/6 ratio in my diet, but taking the fish oil has still helped. Maybe it could help more if I were more on top of it, but I'm still pretty happy with the results.

Yeah thats the one, do you take one pill a day for a week, then bump it up to 2 the next week, and then 3 the next next week?
So I went to the store and bought a bottle of "Nature's Way" blend of fish/flax/olive oil but then I read the post on here talking about fish oil and it said the the flax can actually cause acne and to get just pure fish oil. So I went back today and got a bottle of "Fisol" fish oil that is PCB and Mercury free. But I noticed that it says natural cardiovascular and joint health on the the label and I'm wondering if this kind is more for joint health instead of purely for skin. Does anyone know if there is a specific kind of fish oil that is good for acne or is all fish oil the same?
What is the maximum amount of pills you can intake at one time?
That will be kind of like asking, "how much saturated fat can out eat in one sitting?" Technically, the amount is infinite, you will crap it all out, but you won't get anywhere near possible amounts in capsule form to expell it like you would with any foods. Since it's just a fat. But, of course don't do that. If you don't take any at all and then start, you should start low, then go up slowly otherwise you will more than likely feel the difference in terms of blood thining and you will get dizzy and what not.

I would get rid of b5 first, it is not safe at all, I can show you lots of people who are now stuck with horrible side effects and they can't find a solution to it.
Also, just take omega 3. Even though your diet is fine, there is no need for the excess omega 6 and 9 at all 🙂 Unless most of the omega 6 content does say GLA on it. How much LA and GLA is in the contents?

Yes, pretty much. Just stay away from any nuts, those will directly eclipse any omega 3 intake you try to do. But remember, do not start out that high, and go up slowly. Start at 1 gram, and monitor how you feel etc.

Nope, it's the same 🙂 It just says that because it's another thing fish oil does, which most people take it primarily for.

Yeah thats the one, do you take one pill a day for a week, then bump it up to 2 the next week, and then 3 the next next week?
3 the first week will get you 900 mg of omega 3 (about a gram). Then go up to 6 the next, 9 the next, and if you want: 12 the next. That will give you 3.6 grams of omega 3.
I got his "Fisol" Fish Oil today and nowhere on the box or the bottle does it say how many mg in each pill! Or even how many total mg. All it says is 90 softgels but nothing about how much. I'm frustrated because I want to know how many to take to get up to 3grams a day. It says to take 3 a day on the back. arggg maybe I'll call the company up tomorrow and ask them.
Oh yah and has anybody REALLY ever seen dramatic improvements in their skin from taking a lot of fish oil? I mean I know it helps with the oils and everything but really have any of you who have been taking 3grams a day for a few months noticed GREAT improvements or just mediocore? I have moderate to severe acne so I'm just kinda skeptical I guess this will actually work but hey I'll try anything.

whats the side effects of b5? that cant be solved? ive been on on it since end of april to now
i overcame the stomach issues and the hair thinning wasn't really any different from before i took b5.
omega 6 in this content is 540mg of linoleic acid and 265 of GLA.
I just bought omega3 from costco so gonna try to up the dose on that and take less b5
probably only 1g of b5 when i eat. What do you guys think?
oh btw how do i change my displayed name, kinda made that on the spur.

There's the b5 links. And also go through the b5 thread and see what percentage of people had success with it as opposed to those that did not. It's pretty low, and the danger exceeds it. Just wanted you to know before you make a decision to keep taking it or not 🙂
Definitely keep up the omega 3, how much will you be taking?
I know changing your screen name is possible, but I cannot seem to remember where it is, somewhere in the options

Didn't have a chance to check out the threads, actually b5 did help keep my skin maintained but not perfect. Till recently i had a few nodules, not cysts actually. So in looking around i came about the omega3 thread, i already took 3 1g 3-6-9 pills a day, but saw that people needed omega3's only and 6 and 9 affects acne? so that flagged me to stop the 3-6-9.
So at this point i'm thinking of doing 6 to 9g of omega 3's only, i already know i'm fine with the omega3-6-9 in terms of allergies.
Any thoughts on if this dose is too much? I'm really curious if the omega 6 and 9 caused my acne to stay the way it was and counter the results of the b5.
also anyone have thoughts on maca root? i hear its high in iodine but corrects acne near the jawline and chin? hows that possible?
Thanks again,
Lates.
BTW can't find that option in control panel.

Iodine is generally the most minimal issue with most acne sufferers on here, which deal with either hormones, or dietary influences that affect hormones, or dietary influences that affect allergic responses (probably not a majority).
To know how much to take, add up the epa and dha content on the ingredients and know how much omega 3 is in each capsule. the amount of fish oil on the label does equal the amount of omega 3 (had to say this in case you were not sure).
Aim for 3 to 4 grams if possible. But if not, then at least 2 grams.
Go under "my controls" then in the category titled "personal profile" there is an option "change display name"
🙂

It's an essential fat and a key role in fats is the health of the skin so yes it will help but time is needed to see continual improvement. It will keep working generally even up to 4 months in (in terms of seeing improvements), then you will probably peak around that time frame (depending on the person: 3 to 6 months is what I've read).
There is no ingredient list? There has to be Look for EPA and DHA

changed my name :D.
So maca root might be ok to try?
Supplement Facts:
Serving Size: 2 Softgels
Servings Per Container: 150
Amount Per Serving - % Daily Value:
Calories 25, Calories From Fat 20, Total Fat 2.5 g - 4%**, Saturated Fat 1 g - 5%**, Polyunsaturated Fat 1 g, Monounsaturated Fat 0.5 g, Cholesterol 25 mg - 8%**, Protein 0.5 g, Fish Oil Concentrate 2400 mg - *, Omega-3 (EPA) Eicosapentaenoic Acid 432 mg - *, Omega-3 (DHA) Docosahexaenoic Acid 288 mg - *.
So looks like somethings missing cause its only giving 710mg of omega3? wheres the other 490mg of the 1.2g pill. given its 710mg of omega3 9 pills a day sounds right?
is it really necessary to 1-1 ratio 3 to 6?

I'm not too sure about maca root as I've never tried it or heard much about it =(
Don't worry about the ratio, just be sure to avoid any nuts, and take the 3 to 4 grams daily if possible of omega 3 🙂
Each capsule in that dose contains 350 mg of omega 3 (roughly) which is normal, as most seem to have that much (around 300).
So 3 pills to start off in a day which gets you about 1 gram. Then slowly move up to 6, and then 9. 🙂 Just monitor yourself and see how you feel etc
Each capsule in that dose contains 350 mg of omega 3 (roughly) which is normal, as most seem to have that much (around 300).
hmmm how'd you come up with around 350mg?
I'm already tryin to pump up that number, wouldn't you want to take it throughout the day instead of just in the morning?
Ok so it says in each serving(1pill) there is 500mg of fish oil, 250mg of Omega-3 fatty acids, 150mg EPA, and 100mg of DHA. So each pill is 1000mg or one gram then? And you guys are talking about taking like 12 pills a day so thats like 12grams, isnt that quite a lot? Like unsafe overload your liver a lot?
they're saying you need 3-4g of omega3 only so since your supplement only has 250mg of omega-3 use that number to get 3-4g. so like thats 4pills to equal 1g of omega3 in your case times 3 for 3g = 12 pills.
correct me if im wrong.
