My face has looked really good for the past month. It frustrates me that I don't know what's keeping me clear though. I'm taking the fish oil, I drink ACV, I take the antibitotic Bactrim. I don't have a PERFECT diet, but I try to watch what I eat. I'll just hate it if suddenly I breakout again. It's just all so frustrating
I know what you mean, and that is why many of us get bouts of depression, when things like that throw a curve ball at us, we just want to give up hope. Honestly without this community, we'd be so worse off too. 🙁
this was asked in the other thread...can you take fish oil and ACV at the same time? does it cancel each other out? or no
Good question,
I found this:
http://www.nutritionexpress.com/supplement...+cider+vinegar/
Vinegar is believed to support fat burning activity, so it may support a healthy weight loss program. So it can hinder it. I remember when I used to take acv, I would get noticably hungry much faster. It was odd. Plus I had no digestion gas. But I think if we eat healthy, we won't need acv to clear out our systems since we already eat healthy.
Hi, I know this an old post... I really had great results from fish oil but I really wanted to try ACV due to its benefits.
I take ACV twice a day (am & pm) so my question is, what if I take ACV in the morning on an empty stomach and take fish oil 2-3 hours later? Wouldn't the ACV be absorbed already that time and wouldn't cancel the fish oil out? and vice-versa during the night (take fish oil, wait 2-3 hours then ACV) is fish oil absorbed already 2-3 hours later? am I safe if I do that?
Thanks! 🙂
I'm getting a little frustrated. I've never really had cystic acne before I started fish oil. I did a year ago but that has stopped that year ago also. I've been on fish oil for about 6 weeks and been taking more than 4g for 2 weeks. But big pimples just keep popping up...they usually are the ones that don't hurt but a few does. I've had consecutive ones on my chip and they cleared up and was going for about 1 week or so but today I've got a new one on my chin. The oil-production of my face has decreased considerably and I haven't gotten any small pimples since I started fish oil. So, I don't really know what's going on. Isn't fish oil sorta anti-inflammatory? Yet, I'm getting big inflamed ones
That's interesting, how do you know you don't have a fish allergy? You know what you may want to try? Get off the fish oil, and start eating flax seeds (the flax seed oils won't cut it, but flax seeds are much better so that can equate), see if your acne goes away, if it does, then that may have meant that it is due to an allergy to fish or something like such. You never know, but it's good your oil went down. But it's also strange you are getting big inflamed ones, it does seem like an allergic reaction of some type. Try it out 🙂
Ah, you see, I'm not quite sure if I'm allergic to fish or what not. I do eat fish...maybe one or twice every two weeks, so I've never been sure. I may try flax seeds. You can buy them in supermarkets right?
I believe so, I am not too sure though. The best thing to do is honestly go next time when you get groceries and ask anyone there, they will guide you to it 🙂 I would ask them random stuff, we'd go on hunts just to find weird items if they had it or not 😆 so yeah, if they don't know, they will help you find it more than likely. If not, check at a health food store, or a specialty grocery store like whole foods if you have it there.

Interesting someone else has had some issues with cystic acne. I've been undecided still (am on low dose accutane btw which may complicate things, but still worth knowing in case others have same experience). Have been on 2 grams epa/dha from fish oil a day, face has been totally clear (odd tiny one, felt like fish oil maybe helped with inflamation), but started to get body acne in weird places I never had before after using the fish oil for a bit, lot of really painful cysts on chest, lower back, hips etc. I've never had any acne on places like chest before.
I wasn't too bothered at first (as they were hidden under clothing), so persisted for a month or so, then thought I'd try stopping the fish oil, when I did, all body acne has stopped. There was another thread that said while most people will get good results from fish oil, there was a reason why a few wouldn't. I'm wondering if its related to people who are susceptible to cystic acne at all being slightly different (I always used to have bad facial cycstic acne originally). Also it seemed to promote oil, yet others seem to definitely get a reduction. Maybe there's different body types and how they react to it?
i think a lot of it has to do with your digestion regarding the oil production. If your body absorbs the oil well and consumes it correctly then everything is fine. But if your digestion and absorbtion is poor, the body ends up rejecting the oil and it shows up other places. I also seem like after using fish oil for awhile that my nose was WAAAAYYY more oily than it used to be. But Its a good kind of oil on the face because it doesnt clog pores. Just splash with water to remove the shine, you dont even have to touch the face, let the water splash do all the work.

I am glad you brought that up, it probably is due to a weird reaction to fish, but I am glad that that you found a root cause and was able to stop it. I was wondering, have you tried flax seeds? They are high in o3's as well and are generally safe too 🙂
Finally got my new debit card yesterday, so I went ahead and bought some Puritans Pride o3. 600 for under $30 sounds sweet to me.
It's been about a week since I stopped taking them, and my face looks fine, but I still want to keep at them for the 6 months I planned on.
That week or so I had without o3 shouldn't sting too bad right?

How's it been going for you? Overall?

It's been going pretty good. Only recently got a mini white head, but that was because I ate something I shouldn't have.
Besides that, my face isn't getting anymore white heads or pimples.
There are only two things I now need to worry about, they are:
1: Redness, it has moved from my nose to my cheeks, then to my forehead, and now pretty much all over my face and some on my chest. Sometime a week or two back, my face wasn't too red and looked much better. Not sure what I did different that day.
2: I have little red spots that that resemble scars, but they are super tiny little pimples, I believe they are pimple. So small you can only see them if you look really close or when I put my hand to them. I do have some red/brown spots, but I believe most are these little tiny.....idk what they are 😆
When I get those o3's again, I'll start taking all the supps I was before. And be eating a lot healthier. One thing I will be trying in the very near future is a bum cleansing. I was referred by LivesInABox, so it looks like I'm trying Oxypowder. Hopefully that helps my face and the rest of my body. I poo every 2-3 days. 😥

That is amazing! Perhaps the fish oil is kicking in good aye?
Also, what helped me alot is healthoids diet. Couple that with what you are doing now and I hope you get good results too!
I got my first breakout since I finished accutane this week. It isn't bad at ALL but it's still really frustrating. I know what's causing it though. (female issues ) My face is really irritated and red because I was an IDIOT and picked last night. I guess i'll pop a few extra fish oil today to help with the inflammation?
This is depressing. Acne needs to go to hell.

I'm really sorry to hear about that roxy 🙁 I hope it's just temporary and goes away! lol, let's hope it's just the case of the monthly's and after that you're crystal clear again =p
Is there some kind of hell that is worse than the one we're talking about? I'd like it if acne could go there, and suffer with.....acne? 😆
Seriously this shit needs to end! It's like a bad crush that won't leave you alone. No acne, I don't love you back! GTFO of my body lol

Be sure to read the first post to see your dosage requirements and how to read it for fish oil. For zinc, once a day 🙂
