You'll definately start seeing more o3 products starting to come out. Besides pasta, Tropicana has ornage juice with fish oil in it. There are also more and more breads and baked goods with added o3. I even saw some omega-3 oreo knock-offs that had like 500 mg per 2 cookies.

That is really odd (but good for me), I hope they don't make this into a fad product like atkins friendly product, and I hope they are here to stay for good. But since it's vital, I am sure it will.
I am curious ariventa, what is your diet like? And do you still suffer from acne? You seem to be a wealth of knowledge and your posts are really great.

I have been totally clear for like 6-7 weeks or something. Not a single spot. So I'm hoping this is it for good. It should be since I have been more or less clear during winter which is usually my worst breakouts season. My typical daily diet:
Breakfast: Green smoothie consisting 1-2 fruits, 10-12 ounces of greens (mix of kale, spinach, collard, turnip greens, romaine, whatever) 1-2 tablespoons olive oil, 30 grams protein powder. Gulp a teaspoon of Carlson's fish oil.
SNacks: more fruit, kashi granola bars or protein bars. Kinda random. I occasionally have a cookie or 2...all in moderation.
Lunch: big bowl of lentils and blackbeans with organic tomato souce and walnuts. extra vegetables.
Dinner: chicken or turkey, usually with vegetables or maybe some brown rice pasta depending on the day.
I also drink about 2 whey protein isolate shakes mixed with honey a day. I also center any grain intake (rice, oats pasta whatever) around physical activity. I'm a basketball player and weightlifter, so I will eat my rice or pasta as my meal before the workout so I use up all the carbs. ALso eat potatoes post workout.
I avoid dairy because I can't digest it at all. Been that way since birth. Probably will always be that way.
The only supplements I take are two teaspoons of Carlson's fish oil a day (amounts to about 3 grams or so), a calcium supplement and 5-7 tablespoons of freshly ground flax seed. That's more or less it. I eat a greater variety of foods but these are my staples.
Oh yeah, TAKE GINGER ROOT. It's one of the most anti-inflammatory foods in existence. Costs about 79cents a pound. It's amazing. Read up on it here http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=f...ice&dbid=72
Notice how it is successfully used in to greatly reduce pain in arthritis patients. Hmmmm...arthritis...another symptom of chronic inflammation. Sound familiar?

Omega-3 enriched oreos?!? WTF!?! Well, I've definitely found my new health food..

Yeah, I think they are made by vrootman's and are simply called "Omega-3's" or something like that.
My lil check in: So I started last Monday and am comin up on 2 weeks here soon. My results have been a little iffy, but i'd say overall, its working. For one, I am about as clear as ive been in years. My whole left side of my face and my forehead are pretty much completely clear with just fading scars or old almost faded cysts. I did have a kinda bad breakout earlier in the week, though im pretty sure its because once I started seeing results I slacked on my diet(ate a bunch of chips to be honest, lol) so I got a few zits on my neck/chin area, but like all the zits ive gotten since I started, they dont get half as inflamed as they used to, and they fade very quickly. Ive been doing 2,2,2 most of the way so far, but the other day I changed it to 3,2,3 because I was frustrated/worried about the breakout I had. Im gonna stick to 3,2,3, and remember to not lose focus on my diet.
I cant really say ive had a huge change in excess oil on my face though....not sure what to make of that. I dont know if its true that fish oil improves over time and that in a few weeks/months it will improve or what.
Anyway, I have spring break next week, so im feelin reeeeeeal good about the improvement ill have in that time and go back to school with an even clearer face.
But im glad other people are seeing results...im definitely feeling the best ive felt about myself in a loooooong time, probably ever, and look forward to it getting even better.

That is the most amazing diet I have seen, seriously. Thank you for sharing that with me!
Thanks for the ginger root advice! I had no idea about that as well
One last question,
How long ago did you start with fish oil, and how long after that did it completely stop (acne)

Nice work! That's how it starts, the acne doesn't seem to stop right away, but it progressively gets less and less, in severity and size. I think our oil production will stay the same, except the viscosity will change to lighter, and our skin texture will get better making it less sensitive and less acne prone. that is what is happening to me, my skin is thicker and fuller on my face, I feel it when I use my baby brush, it never gets irritated no matter how I press etc.
nice work, keep us updated
wow that would mean i'd have to eat 3 pills each meali feel like that's overdose
i've been taking 2 pills daily this whole time hah
is it possible to overdose?
Post how many mg of omega 3 and 6 you have.
I'll see what the min you can take is and max. The overdose is not really possible. It's kind of like saying can you overdose on eating 3 teaspoons of regular unsaturated fat. lol, not really =) Remember, it's just oil, so don't worry. It's the type of oil to actually help your health =) But just post the figures
hmm okay so today
i had about 600 omega3's and 3700 omega6's
and i ended up taking 4 pills today =\

So with 4 pills that puts you to 1800 omega 3 and 3700 omega 6. You should just re-analyze your diet and just not eat any foods that are way way way high in omega 6, then see how much you need. Remember, fish oil capsules are in 1000 mg's, but only 300 mg's are useful (the epa and dha on the back of the bottle in the listing. EPA and DHA are what your body needs for it to be processed into omega 3.
how come no one here just eats fish? fish is one of the healthiest foods ever. my mom is a fish lover (grew up by the sea) so i eat it about 5 times a week. i know a lot of ppl don't like fish, but i find it soooo tasty.
Way too much hassle and pricey. Plus it smells raw and we can't store it here. lol. I don't even eat fish either =o

I do! Especially salmon. Mmmmmm, no seasoning even needed. The great thing about salmon is that its a smaller fish so its mercury levels are supposedly pretty low too and its just loaded with omega-3. It is expensive though. Normally, I pay $8.99 for 12 ounces ($12/lb) of frozen fillets. Last week, there was a sale for $7.99 so I stocked up with 5 bags of these, the checkout lady gave me a weird look.
I just wanted to make a quick note for anyone wanting to start or just check up:I used to get an oily back, especially the shoulder area, and chest, in the middle and up top. Now I have no excess oil for 24 hours straight, that doesn't happen, ever.
Also, my hair used to fill with the gunk of all the hair grease from all that excess thick sebum. Now it actually moisturizes my hair and it shines well, and looks full and nice. I used to get acne in my scalp, but now it's completely flat and no acne at all, except for a couple of smallll red bumps, but the progress is startling.
The oil on my face is reducing quick. I am tempted to pause the certain dri to see how much it has gone down, and see if I can just be dependent on fish oil instead.
And finally, I started the green tea extract supplements. I don't know if there's a connection, but I am drier because of it. My lips are really dry, never happens ever.
I also started to eat omega 3 enriched multi-grain/whole wheat pasta a week ago. It's from healthy harvest. I eat two servings per bowl, so I get 720 mg more, plus 2 fish oil pills, 3 times daily after big meals. I go through two boxes per week exactly, and there are 7 servings per box
So I am tipping my ratio on the omega 3 side, since I was at 1:1 already, but that's okay, I like it.
so you went from super dry to super duper dry?
so you went from super dry to super duper dry?
I don't know what's going on, my body is dry, my face isn't as dry, maybe my face is the last to be regulated. It feels dry, till I actually take the clean and clear sheet and apply it to my face to absorb the oil. It isn't too much, and I can also tell it's verrry light, the oil that is. It's not thick anymore at all. And now when I break out or get any acne, it's really tiny. They don't hurt, but they're small and red.
I am thinking that if I just go back to the dan kern bp + moisturizing portion, with this ratio, it should be fine?
But I do know the progress is getting there, it's just a matter of time! I can't wait any longer, I wish I knew when it was.
Are you clear yet? What's going on with you?

gotta love those wierd looks at the checkout counter. Pure ignorance.
but yea salmon is too damn expensive and latley ive been looking into what it would take to start a fish farm, just to see how possible it would be because for fish to be that expensive is ridiculus its a fucking fish. The best food should never be so expensive that i can barely afford it.
I feel the same way about cherries, with the technology we have these days i dont see why some of this stuff is still so expensive theres gotta be more local growers and farmers so they dont have to ship it across country skyrocketing the price.
The best food should be the most affordable of all because we are supposed to be eating this stuff everyday.

That's crazy, starting your own fish farm? What would you feed it though, since none of the fish farms seem to have fish with the same o3 levels as those in the sea that eat their natural diet from plankton and whatever they eat. I really don't know the economics on the food trade, but it shouldn't cost $5 for a little carton of raspberrries either!

Farmed salmon has 2 grams o3 per 3 ozs
wild salmon has 3 grams o3 per 3ozs
so yea wild is better but not by much plus farmed will be guaranteed mercury and toxin free so its still worthwhile to farm them.
and there is a good profit to be made if you set the business up right at 12.00 a pound, its a fish that pays, but im more interested in making it more affordable by keeping my farm small and local saving costs on shipping and Im single and dont have a family to support so that would make it easier.
As for fruits and veggies, to grow something cheaply and in mass quantitys requires it be grown in a region with a season that is right for its growth using natural sunshine, otherwise the only other alternative is to use artificial light the only way that could happen is with solar and wind power where the energy is free.
So that would be cool to run a solar/wind powered greenhouse where all the fruits and veggies are grown organically.

[Essential fatty acids and the skin][Article in French]
Berbis P, Hesse S, Privat Y.
Clinique Dermatologique, Hotel Dieu, Marseille.
Metabolism of the essential fatty acids (AGE) in an organism leads to synthesis of eicosanoids, which have various biological properties. Linoleic acid plays an important part in maintenance of epidermal integrity by intervening in the cohesion of the stratum corneum and in prevention of transepidermal water loss. Metabolites of arachidonic acid (mostly those obtained by the lipoxygenase pathway) are important agents in causing many inflammatory skin reactions concurrent with development of skin diseases such as psoriasis and atopic dermatitis. Pharmacological and dietetic control of the metabolism of arachidonic acid is a new and interesting therapeutic concept in the care of skin diseases. Also, fish oil, which is rich in linoleic acid and poor in arachidonic acid, seems to be useful in basal treatment of psoriasis. The value of evening primrose oil, which is rich in gamma-linoleic acid, in the treatment of atopic dermatitis is discussed.
Ok im taking about 5g's a day of fish oil. First days pretty good well i been doing b5 5g's too. Once my face gets dried it starts breaking out a lot. I think its working though. I dont know if mixing both is such a good idea.
Stay off the B5, it is not good for your health in those doses. Do you gently exfoliate daily? Try that, and moisturize after. use a baby hair brush, it will solve the breaking out because of dryness flaking issue =) Just moisturize well after
Autonomous, have you looked into canned salmon at all? I like it for a snack, spread on WW crackers, quite tasty. Not dinner tasty, but definitely snack worthy. I buy the Double-Q Wild Alaska Pink Salmon - wild caught, 1040 mg o3 per serving, 2006 best taste winner, $1.50 for a 14.75 oz can.
I have to agree with you on the cherries though, wtf?? I LOVEE cherries, favorite fruit!
