Thanks i-have,
Mine is actually more tolerable tasting because it's made by Carlson Laboratories. Their fish oil has absolutely no taste except for lemon. As for their Cod Liver Oil, it's defintely stronger, but tastes like cough syrup. I can tolerate that. Sadly I don't know anything about finding them in the UK.
Well, if I combine my teaspoon of Fish Oil and my teaspoon of Cod Liver Oil, then I'm somewhat over. I think the fish oil alone was 1600mg! It's late now and I'm too lazy to check, but I'll report back tomorrow morning to be certain. Thanks for the help!
So far it's the end of week one. Sebum seems to be higher than normal, but my redness is fading! Sweet. With some oil blotting sheets my face seems to be improving. I'll keep at it.
So, my opinion: Cod Liver Oil taste awful, when mixed with pineapple juice, orange juice or milk! I don't think I'm going to be able to take the liquid Cod Liver Oil then. I almost gag at each drink, and I get terrible fish burps afterwards. Ick! In America, you seem to be able to get flavoured Cod Liver Oil - is this any better? Does anyone know if you can get this in the UK? Thanks.
JT: How much liquid you have to take, depends on the strength of your liquid, and the concentration of Omega 3 in the bottle. Look on the back of the bottle and it will give you a break down of the Omega 3 (EPA and DHA) in each 10ml or teaspoon or other measure. You then need to work out how much you liquid you need to take to make sure you're getting 2000mg. Fairly easy, but if you're having trouble, post these numbers here and we can work it out for you.
I have a questionthere is cod liver oil with omega 3.. is that one better than taking cod liver oil and fish oil together?
That's the whole point of cod liver oil, that it is high in omega 3...the reason people would take cod liver oil is the added benefit of the A and D. If you don't need those vitamins, take fish oil or a combination.
then why people take fish oil + cod liver oil?? like double the omega 3
because Cod liver oil contains pretty high Vitamin A ( which is good for fighting acne) but general feeling probably is that in trying to meet the Omega 3 requirements from CLO only, we might overdose on the Vitamin A from CLO which may be a little dangerous. Therefore, to meet the essential Vitamin A and Vitamin D requirements we take CLO (which also provides significant Omega 3) and the additional (but essential) Omega 3 is had from Fish oil (no vitamin A etc.) so that too much CLO is not needed.
But personally I just take the CLO only, around 15 ml+ daily as I dont feel too threatened by the possibility of ODing on Vit A from CLO ( still just a fat - with Vitamin A in natural form so how harmful could it possibly be? ). And this along with certain dietary modifications has been serving me pretty well. But I feel that you have to give it atleast 3 weeks before judging the results.
Also if you are in a region where the sunshine is scarce then you should rather have CLO ( would make up for Vit D lack from less sunshine) and on the other hand if your rregion has abundant sunshine then you may only take Fish oil.
PS: For queries like this I find the website nutritiondata.org very useful. Just search and then compare both the oils for all the nutrients.
cheers 😎

Much like K said, the retinol (natural vitamin A) content. Otherwise we could just take two doses of fish oil =) retinol+zinc especially. Retinol is very important to sebaceous activity. But too much is potentially dangerous, hence just 100% of the DV is needed (one dose). It all works out so perfectly this way.

Make sure the teaspoon you are using isn't just one you have pulled out of the drawer, like for making coffee. Get yourself a proper measuring teaspoon as household teaspoons, confusingly, do not measure out a full teaspoon!
If your fish oil is 1600mg, then it is likely that you CLO is topping you up! But you might want to check on the levels of your Vitamin A & D from this too.
1) Can I take the EVOO by itself or do I have to mix it with food?
I sometimes take olive oil straight, I like the way it tastes. Not like a glass of it, but a couple of tablespoons isn't going to be a problem. If you dont like the taste, try adding it to a salad or something. I think the idea (and I'm not an expert or anything and I haven't had the time to read this entire thread) is that you are getting the oil, and if you drink it or add it to something won't make much of a difference.

How are things going w/you NdnRomeo?
Still on the same routine?
is so great that is helping all of you so much!!
my doctor gave me some but i asked my other doctor(neurologis) about it and the side effects for my condition cause i am epileptic and it does had contraindications with people that suffer from convulsions and grand mall seizures like i do,so it makes me so sad and angry that i can't even try it!!!
i can always take the risk, but is 50-50 chance i will have a seizure or that it will do soemthing funky with the medications that i am already on so i dont think i should try it.
is so funny that something so natural with lots of benefits can cause damage on my brain.

Yup, I'm 100% clear now *knock on wood* =) It's been such for months now so I am pretty sure it's not a fluke or anything as such, but I have done my research, and time, and now I am done I believe.

It's a little past my 2nd week on this now and I'm amazed at how much results I'm seeing. Redness has reduced dramatically, new zits are very small compared to the past, and that's if I get new ones. Best of all, the sebum is starting to subside! My old breakouts have shrunk quite a bit as well.
NdnRomeo I'll have to admit that I was skeptical, but I'm glad I ran into this thread. :surprised: My family has already noticed the difference.

That is awesome JT! If you don't attain 100% success, feel free to PM me and I can further elevate your regimen and help you get to clear skin within 3 months (or try my damn best) by adding in some things you may be missing that are powerful as, if not more, than fish oil alone. And don't worry, if anyone was skeptical, it was definitely me 3 years ago. Food and acne? Pft, definitely not related! Or so I always thought. The science of nutrition is what made me believe in it :).
Best of luck!
Hey Romeo, I know awhile back you posted that you were laying low for a while. I was just wondering if you are 100% clear these days and if you were going to make a "this worked for me" post ya know with the step by step details condensed? just curious, keep up the good work.

Yes sir, I am clear now, no doubt about that at all. It was a big change. I will make the thread soon 🙂
quick questionso if I want to start taking fish oil, first I have to measure my omega 6 intake and then get a 1:1 ratio through diet + fish oil?
Actually if you get roughly 2 grams of EPA and DHA combined (read the back of the label) you will be good (this is a minimum dosage). Aim to cut out saturated fats, and get plenty of extra virgin olive oil. 🙂
romeo your back...help me out man im still here, what are u doing thats working???

I currently am taking these http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/pages/pro...ail.asp?pid=658 , but i have now seen some fish oil on offer, it is this one http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/pages/pro...ail.asp?pid=146 . Which one would be best to help with my skin?
I take the second one, and I think they're great.
The Omega 3-6-9 will be giving you the wrong ratios of fatty acids, and you are not going to get enough Omega 3, so I would switch to the Fish Oil Concentrate. They're on special offer now, so get them soon! Actually, they are quite often reduced to this price, so you'll only need to buy about 3 months worth and they'll be reduced again.
