3 teaspoons okI hope that doesnt taste bad the girl in the store said that tastes horrible. So strange.
Another question, if a take cod liver oil pills, how much grams do i take??
She probably used a terrible brand, or something or it was rancid. Remember, you cannot get any brand and have the same dosage work, because some brands contain 10% vit a, and some more. Some contain no omega 3 at all (in their ingredients). So I am basing it off the twin labs brand :).
Don't take cod liver oil pills, the point is to avoid fillers in pills so we take liquids. You're just paying more for something that will affect you negatively.
If you still do want to take pills, then it will depend on the bottle and company listing.
I read in one of these threads...that I could buy cod liver oil at my local supermarket. Is that true? I hope so I am about to go food shopping. Can I find it there? And is it the same quality as other brands?Edit: And around how much does it go for?
Edit 2: I am sorry if this has been asked already. I did read a few pages back and I didn't notice. Can I still take my fish oil together with Cod liver oil? I was thinking 1 Tablespoon of CLO in the morning 2 fish oil pills midday then 1 more tbls of CLO in the evening.
Thnx to anyone who can answer. TY OP! 🙂
Oh dear, remember it's teaspoons not tablespoon. That is important because 1 tablespoon = 3 teaspoons.
Right now I am only advising twin labs brand or GNC brand (though I don't know how it tastes), for the sake of consistent results, preferably twin labs because it's nitrogen flushed. You can find if at the vitamin shoppe and whole foods. I don't know much about other brands located anywhere else due to the amounts that vary to each company. So try to get those, or order it online if possible.
Remember, if you get twin labs, make sure it does not say emulsified on there, we don't want that :).

Oh my ...Ty for clearing that up for me 🙂 I would have ODed.
OK looks like I will be taking this then http://www.vitacost.com/Twinlab-Norwegian-...il-Cherry-12-oz
Also is it ok to drink water-lemon dilluted, while taking CLO?
Or is it not neccessary since CLO already offers all the other stuff?
And do u have a link to a good brand of zinc (or is any brand at local stores ok) ?
Romeo, I'm on twin labs like you, and this might be the best supplement.
ok, so I got two super small zits because I pigged out four days in a row hahahaha lol, it can handle a lot, just not overboard. Was worth the test.
but they will go away quick, so If you don't overeat you will be okay. You can't go to over board. I binged, thats why (was strict three weeks with no success until CLO, so I know). Always happens, back to being nice. You can eat what you want almost just in moderation if your stomach can handle it after this.

Sure, I drink lots of water with it, it won't matter since water and oil do not mix =)
Zinc gluconate, the store kind. But some people like others, I think it works just fine. Just read the back of the label to be sure in the ingredients it does say zinc gluconate somewhere.

-ok I will look forward to taking zinc as well then hope results will show as time goes by
No, just take the clo straight, there's no need for the lemon and water 🙂
Just wanted to post this link since I saw a lot of people mentioning Twin Labs products'. According to this website they do not have high quality standards so their products may contain contaminants like Mercury.

Thank you for pointing me to that link. It strikes me as odd because the bottle does say free of PCB and metals in bold yellow, also being sold at whole foods and vitamin shoppe, they usually only sell high quality products too.
Also note that by worst choice, they define that by:
"Worst Choice: Does not conform to strictest standards for safe levels of contaminants or did not respond to repeated inquiries."
So the worst case scenario is that they do have contaminents, and the best case scenario is that they just did not respond.
Before jumping to any conclusions, we have to ask how credible is that site, what testing do they do, and how do they do it. Also where are they getting the information from if they do not test it.
Also I am going to send them an e-mail as well and ask them why their company is on the worst choice list when they are really prestigious.
Finally, I am going to look at other sites to see twin lab reviews.
Thank you once again so much for finding this out :).
The good news is that gnc is on the best choice list :), so worst case scenario, we just use gnc brand or carlson (though twice the price of even gnc), since their nutritional data is almost identical.
Follow up edit:
I just sent them an e-mail:
I have recently purchased cod liver oil and wanted to know if the product was safe. I was sent a link by a co worker that said that the twin labs cod liver oil was not safe even though it says on the bottle that it is metal and PCB free. This is the website I was sent tohttp://www.oceansalive.org/eat.cfm?subnav=...amp;sort=Rating
It listed twinlab cod liver oil as the 'worst choice' so I wanted to know what methods of purification you use.
Thank you for your time,
Patrick
We shall see how they respond.
Also, the safe companies said they used this
Most companies said they used molecular distillation and steam deodorization technologies to remove environmental pollutants from their fish oil supplements. These highly effective purification processes use a combination of pressure and high temperature to separate pollutants from omega-3 fatty acids.
Also note this
Overall, more than 80% (61) of the 75 companies contacted verified that they have met the strictest U.S. standards for contaminants. Twenty-one companies' responses were incomplete, and seven companies did not respond
Let's just hope they did not respond for whatever reason when this survey was made, I believe it was in 2003. So I hope they can provide me with something saying they use what is used by the passing companies, meaning, the molecular distillation and steam deodorization :).
We'll see 😀
For me, the important thing is hold the sebum. My question is, anti-inflamattory food effects of the sebum, decreasing it?
Omega 3 and 6 do that? Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) and Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA)?
Yes, in short omega 3's help to balance hormones which regulate sebum as far as hormones go. And many people who have retinol (vitamin a) deficiencies through diet also tend to produce lots of sebum, hence both together are what give us many of our results. 🙂

I hope they will email you back with some info
Now I am more confused as to which brand to take. And actually the GNC is the only brand that looks like that is very similar to vitamin A content in twn labs. all the other ones I noticed they had low vitamin A content. So if all fails, GNC brand looks good

The funny thing is I just bought my second bottle today. It's okay though, the next bottle with by gnc if the company seems to be not as good as we thought. But it strikes me as odd, I would think that if whole foods would sell it, it may be something that's really good since they usually only keep really good brands for other products too.

Hey Romeo thanks so much for the patience and information so far
Well all my relatives are saying the same thing about the taste of code liver oil. I think you guys are getting it flavored

No problem! 🙂
It may be possible that their cod liver is not as fresh, since ours is nitrogen sealed so it's completely fresh when opened. The fish taste isn't there, so I guess that signifies how fresh it is yea? Or probably the minimal taste of cherry masks the minimal fish taste perhaps. I have only tried one brand so I am not sure. When I try GNC CLO after this new bottle is opened and finished then I will be able to tell you 🙂

well not necessarily. Just because its whole foods doesn't mean that everything there is good:) But thats just my opinion.
When I try GNC CLO after this new bottle is opened and finished then I will be able to tell youThe GNC brand I use (posted a page or two ago) has a fishy aftertaste, but it's not bad at all. I just wash it down with some water, and it's all good.
Thanks!
Do you know if the bottle is also free of oxygen (nitrogen sealed)?

I don't believe it is. The cap was on pretty tight and sealed via extra plastic on the cap and bottle neck. GNC has a pretty awesome return policy in the event something is bad, or if you don't want it.
