I am going to purchase some EPO instead of BO due to what has been said by others(including someoneintheUK).

Do you now use EPO someoneintheuk? If so how much?

I also bought some Lecithin Granuls, and not the capsules. How much Lecithin Granuls should be taken per serving of EPO someoneintheuk? 3 teaspoons with milk or more?

thnx

im taking 3g of EPO a day at the moment. In my experience borage oil is better for acne than eve prim oil, but the eve prim can be helped with other supplements so its not a major problem. Apart from one spot on my cheek i am totally clear.

experiment with the lecithin granule dose, perhaps one tablespoon (which is about 3 teaspoons right?) would be a good starting point.

im still taking EPO 1000mg with 10% GLA. I use to take 3, but now i only take 2 a day. It really helps for women who have hormonal balance. My menstrual cycle was very irregular and it would be 2-3 weeks late every month, and it was hard to tell when i was due the next time. But after 1 month of taking EPO, my next menstrual cycle i had was only 3 days late!!! I was very surprised, because this hasnt happened in a very long time. Ill see what happens in my next due date.

someoneintheuk, you take 3g of GLA which means you take 30g of EPO total? Because there is only 10% GLA per 1000mg of EPO.

Thats a lot of EPO. Thats like 30 1000mg capsules per day!

Does anyone using GLA for acne use black currant seed oil? That's another alternative

to borage or epo. Would love to hear if it is effective also.....

I started taking EPO a week ago. I find it's breaking me out a bit. I don't like it, I'm sticking to fish oil.

EPO is really good. I think i will never discontinue using it. Because it aids in balancing the hormonal system does this mean that our skin wont produce as much oil? over the last month or two, my skin is DEFINITELY not as oily as it was before

I started the Now brand borage oil today after a recent chin breakout. I was 97% clear before this breakout which was due to introducing a bunch of new foods in the same week...supposedly healthy whole organic paleo foods, including cod liver oil, but nonetheless, I brokeout.

Anyone have any updates on how they are doing with the GLA supplementation? Anyone combine paleo with GLA?

Hi guys

I'm going to give this a go - think I'll start with EPO and lecithin, and maybe zinc and chromium too. Is that right? Just wanted to ask: I'm already taking 2 tablespoons of flax oil a day and it does seem to be cutting my acne back a bit - can I carry on taking this, or will it interfere with the GLA? I'd like to keep taking it if possible, because I think it's helping a bit...

Thanks

Hi KT,

I would continue with flaxseed oil if you think it is helping. I would get a good quality evening primrose oil supplement and lecithin too. If you are going to add any other supplements from the start you're best off making it dry vitamin e.

I just read this whole thread through--wow. Now I have forgotten some of the things I have read! I am sure there may be some answers to my questions, but I'll pose them anyway. To whomever may know!

Since soy beans provide a natural source of lecithin, do you think that drinking soya milk while taking one of the oils will work in the place of lecithin supplements? And adding an egg or two here and there?

Is taking a multi-vitamin not recommended as the vitamin and mineral supplement? If not, what are the vitamin and mineral supplements recommended for maximum GLA effectiveness? And again, would getting enough of these in a great diet suffice?

Someone also mentioned supplementing the EPO only around her menstrual cycle (to combat her worst breakout time)--is this a recommended trial first? I mean, if it works to keep breakouts down, maybe some cost can be saved by not taking it all month. Although perhaps someone has found it to be a necessary daily regimen....?

Thanks. Looking forward to trying this out. Especially since I have now officially decided my adult acne is soley hormonal.

anyone who used EPO did it cause your skin to dry out to the point where it got really annoying and worrying if you had visible flakes on your skin? because i think EPO caused my skin to dry out, or is susceptible to dry out. but isnt EPO suppose to help dry skin... maybe it doesnt work for me :( plz look at my log that i write this about...

No it didn't, but I use jojoba oil daily...so that may be why. Do you use that? If not try it ;)

Borage oil and lecithin worked well with me, EPO not so well on its own. However Borage oil has not been tested thoroughly enough and there are some concerns about the toxicity of it.

Hey, it was a couple of months ago when I was using it now. I don't think I was completely clear, but pretty clear like 95%. I stopped using it because of the toxicity issues with it, I switched to EPO which I'm testing at the moment...with some success

for some reason i cannot take EPO. It will severely dry my skin, i mean like raw patches. I threw it away yesterday. My skin is slowly recovering. I was on it for 3 months but starting drying out my skin in about a month, but noticed oil reduction in a week.

Take it with Lecithin to see more results on acne, and use Jojoba Oil directly after cleansing to remove the dry patches (I have the same problem, Jojo seems to do the trick)

this is the way i think of it. dont know if im right. But if your skin dries out from something then applying moisturisor (jojoba oil) your only masking the problem, but your skin is still dry underneath.

Thanks for the suggestion but i think i will never go on multivitamins again =]
