I have a feeling there are many people on this board with similar issues that don't have any idea what candida is or that yeast maybe the root cause of a panacea of health problems they are dealing with, including acne.

hey sweetjade i've been reading your resource guide and you sound like you know what your talking about lol. so i have a couple questions number 1 whats are the normal symptoms of leaky gut 2 i have a lump in my abnimin regin (i suck at spelling my belly buton region) that is the size of a golf ball as my natrupath/colon hydrotherpy said and it has a unusaull pulsading movment when pressed on like there a main artry running across it. what would be your opinion on this?
My naturopath has told me that I have a leaky gut and has given me probiotics to sort it out...I realise today that one months worth was costing me $50! holy sheet!
I dont have cystic acne, or pimples really per se, but chronic blackheads and whiteheads. It seems like the exxon valdez grounded itself on my face not in alaska! Seeing as though BCP didnt help this oil slick of mine, im assuming its something Im going to have to solve through adjusting my diet. maybe this leaky gut has been messing me around.

I have been eating nuts for protein intake and my skin is quite broken out.... This issue with nuts is new to me.
I have read a book, that clearly discusses one of the reasons for acne is hormone induced foods such as milk and cheeses. As I cut these out of my diet, my skin began to clear. Also I ate a healthy amount of berries and fiber one cereal for breakfast. I tried to eliminate sugars, especially white and corn syrups from my diet, skin seemed to clear. I started eating cheeses and milk in my coffee, skin disaster.
I am 39, white female and have tried all kinds of over the counter cremes as well as accutane, as well as visited several different dermatologists. They prescribed Tazorac, Retinol, Proactive and Accutane, none of which really worked.
The only two things, holistically I have found that worked so far are vitamins listed below and a creme/wash trio. The creme/wash/lotion pak I have found that work are iQDerm Acne pak with the wash, lotion and creme, they work quite well after about 7 days. The other is a vitamin supplement by Lorna VanDerHaegue (Canadian) EstroSense and Vitex, which seems to do hormone regulation, duo bonus, not so difficult monthly cycles, sorry guys, I know this won't work for you, but I am sure the iQDerm will.
The other thing I have done is it took about 2 years of monthly facial/microdermabrasion, nlite, genisys treatments to get me pretty clear and then I started the iQDerm/Lorna treatments along with a daily workout that would literally sweat out 1L of water to clean out my pores.....
All seems to be going well.
I hope this helps to those that have been living with the issue for years with questionable solutions.

I hope that for those of you with questions, especially the Newbies, you will look to this guide as one of your references.

I chose this book because it shows you PICTURES of food! You find out what a particular food looks like, how to shop for it at a grocery store, how to cook it, and what nutrients it contains. It's a hugh 640 page book and I thinks its definately worth the price!
** My 2nd recommendation is for The Natural Diet Solution for PCOS and Infertlility. **
Please DO NOT let this title deter you...if you are or suspect that you are in any way Glucose Intolerant (Insulin Resistant, Type II Diabetic, etc) male or female this may be the book for you. I believe this is especially true for those of you that are having trouble following some of the diets on this board. I don't believe in "one size fits all diets" but this one happens to incorporate a lot of theories out there that some members, perhaps yourself, may have tried. It takes into account, low carbing, acid-alkaline diet, Blood Type Diet/Eat Right 4 Your Type, paleo diet, as well as individual food hypersensitivites (which I still need to cover later). I've been doing an anti-candida diet along with taking antifungals and its helping.
I've been taking IntestiNEW for a month now at 10g day and its really helping the leaky gut.
After another month of IntestiNEW I plan to incorporate probiotics.
One thing you guys should look into is Biotin. Biotin is beneficial for candida sufferers because it helps prevent the mutation of the candida into its more virulent form. Biotin is usually secreted by the good bacteria in your gut, but candida sufferers would be lacking in that category.
Anyone know a good way to help leaky gut? Is a healthy diet with vitamin c enough to repair it?

My homeopath said that L-Glutamine would fix my leaky gut.
So, Im hoping that L-Glutamine and the best probiotic I could find will do the trick.
Im also lowering my sugar/gluten in-take as much as I can.

Just finished reading the entire thread and I have to say this is a fantastic guide. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this page. I've kind of done a full 360. When I first began getting acne my mother told me to take probiotics and support my gut but when that really didnt do the trick I moved into a more antibiotic approach. Now, after my gut has seriously been damaged from the several antibiotics I've taken (including accutane), I too believe that the gut is directly related to my acne.
I am on a low glycemic diet and I eat alot of fruit. However, I plan on gutting all fruit from my diet for 1-2 weeks in hopes of improving my digestions. Just 4 days ago I stopped taking an antibiotic which really really skrewed up my gut. From the moment I stopped taking the (topical) antibiotic (I know topical? can do that, apparently yes) I started taking large amounts of probiotics and gut and liver boosting pills. I've been taking 8 pills called GreenVibrance and 5-7 probiotics a day along with fish oils, calcium and a food based multivitamin and I can honestly say my skin feels and looks better. Not to mention my gut gets 1000% better each day. I pray I didn't permanently harm my gut but I think the human body is pretty good at recovering and healing itself given the right tools.
One question I do have is about the cod liver oil. I've never heard of cod liver oil in my life. I'd love to learn more about it. The site I found described it almost as a miracle pill for arthritis but what about acne? If I am taking fish oils is it essentially the same deal? Any further information about cod liver oil would be great. thanks again, the information here has been literally life changing
So Suzanne Somers is making appearances promoting her latest book and says that leaky gut is caused by all the antibiotics in the meat from sickly grain fed cattle. And apparently there's a lot on food intolerances in the book. She consults mostly with alternative and integrated medicine practitioners.
I've been keeping a food log to try to figure out what specifically might be causing my acne and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this...how long after an offending food can you expect to see acne?
It's very difficult to try to pinpoint what's causing it. I didn't have dairy for over a week which seemed to help but that's definitely not the only thing, but I ate some yogurt the other day and now have some cystic acne along my hairline. I'm going to try to strictly eliminate nuts and dairy this week, but will still have soy, coconut, and some seeds like flax and tahini (sesame). Also how about unsweetened cocoa powder with stevia? Thanks for any input.
