I can't believe how much I'm letting this thing control my life I've become a completely different person because of my skin since it's gotten so bad. I'm 17yrs 5months and female and I've suffered with acne on and off (mostly on) since I was about 11 and I know there are way worse things in the world but I didn't realise how big effect it would have on my mental state I am absolutely sick to death of it I dread waking up everyday just because I know I i have to see how my face and chest(chestne) is looking and it's been persistently bad for a while now I just can't wait any longer for it to go I look at people with clear skin and get so jealous. All of my friends have clear skin and can go out with no makeup but I'd never think of leaving the house with no skin makeup. I haven't even seen my best friends for a few weeks now because my skin has got so bad I feel too embarrassed and anxious plus they all think it's disgusting when they get one tiny spot wonder what they must think about my face. :((( I was referred to a dermatologist in September but still haven't heard anything but my skin is getting out of control so I hope I get seen asap and hopefully get roaccutane. Can anyone give me their reviews on tretinoin please

I hear you.Theadvice i can give you, as someone who has had acne for 12 years, is to keep your head held high. You did not choose to live with acne. You are not your acne. Your unfortunate skin condition does not make you less than anyone else.

You shouldn't let other peoples opinions affect your well being. You should not fear the reactions of your best friends! If anything, they should be supportive. If they indeed do react toxic, they are not truly your friends.

They only see or judge you on the fact that you have acne, a factor in your live which you did not choose. But there is so much more to you than just your acne. Be proud of yourself on the things you DO have affect over in your life.Get that haircut, improve your posture, go to the gym, read that book on personal finance and do your absolute best in school!

Accutate should really be seen as a last resort treatment, especially for girls. Your young age also makes me feel like you should explore other options first, as accutane might stun your growth.

I managed to get rid of the acne on my face and neck thanks to the acne.org regimen. I wouldstrongly urgeyou to give it a fair shot. I have gotten amazing results. If you follow the instructions closely i am positive that you will see great improvements as well!

Whatever treatment you choose next. I would recommend sticking with scientifically proven methods. This website has a decent selection of treatment optionsright here. Another good source of scientific information on acne iswww.acneeinstein.com.

Take care!

Oh please, please, please don't just jump into Accutane/Roaccutane. This drug was intended for cancer patients--the side effects and risks were seen as an acceptable alternative to DEATH. Lots of young people have had their health destroyed permanently due to this drug and regret choosing to take it... please do thorough research before committing to that. There are so many alternatives.

From my own experience, took it when I was 18/19 years old. In Sweden, they are definitely more liberal when it comes to this medication. Nothing mentioned about cancer patients, nor anything about risks better alternative than death. Not even about lots of young people that have their healths destroyed permanently. That sounds just awful.. But I recommend you talk about this with a doctor, who I believe would not use these terms.. at all.. They have the experience and knowledge that others do not.

I took it, many of my friends did, many famous Swedish bloggers did. All were just fine. There are risks in everything in life. Important to not blow everything out of proportions. Otherwise you just isolate yourself into a corner and eventually get too afraid to act on anything in your life.. one could go nuts for only focusing on things that hold you back.

Yes, my bones hurt a little for a few months.. funny feeling and makes you think about how it feels if you were old.. interesting experience actually... and I constantly had dry skin. But luckily we have moisturizers for that! Oh, and try to take it during the wintertime. Otherwise you are going to miss out on a lot of fun in the sun during the summer. And our vitamin D's are very important and a good way to not feel blue.

Very uplifting post. Good points and it works wonders for motivation. Always happy when I see posts we all can relate to and at the same time benefit from them.
