Hi guys.
I don't know about you, but I know that I find great support in watching inspirirational videos/people or videos of others going through hard time regarding their skin/accutane journies/medicatio stories... There was a time where I would watch hours of youtube videos of other people's journies with acne, their ideas, their methods of coping.
Videos have always helped me...when I suffered from depression about three years ago, I was on the verge of suicide. I had it planned, and I was going to go through with it...I went on facebook for the last time, and the first link I saw was a funny video about something totally irrelevant (I think it was someone talking about penguins)...but for some reason, it just cracked me up...it was the first time I smiled in weeks. I then clicked the 'related videos' section, and just carried on watching funny videos until I went to bed. Who would have thought that a single video about a penguin would have saved my life that day?
I'm suffering extreme depression and anxiety once more due to my acne right now, but do find support in videos. From what I've read, it seems others also love hearing/reading about others success stories...so why not share them here? I'd love to see just what helps you get through those tough days.
Here are some that I've found that I've favourited, helping me through the tough times and helping me slowly believe that there is more to me than my skin:
- Camo Confessions. I've posted a couple above. They help people with skin disorders and problems 'cover up', the second episode I linked focusing on acne by a popular youtuber. Cheri, who is featured in the second link, even made another inspirational video in which she says she no longer even leaves the house with makeup, having the confidence to live without it:
This video helped me a LOT. And by a lot, I mean, I think I watched it like five times in one day:
She has a great, warm-heart and her story probably relates to everyone in this section (constantly lookin in the mirror, comparing to others, feeling unworthy). She also goes into discussion about how her acne was cured with the acne.org regimen.
Here's just a couple, what else has gotten you guys through those hard days? Please share with me your stories/links
What a wonderful post...I am so glad you are still here today. I felt similar, and I do agree that a simple smile can help you survive by getting you through the moment, and giving you jus enough hope to carry you forward through to the next day. Honestly, what has helped me is putting my "perfect" views into perspective. Meaning, finding photos of people who I admire professionally and as a person, whose imperfections are also proudly disiplayed. I was actually going to make a post showing all the celebs I found who do not have perfect skin, but who seem beautiful on the inside and out.
Thanks for sharing. I hope people watch the videos, especially of the girls with vitiligo and lupus, and realize that acne is the least of our problems. It puts things into perspective.
Aha! Here is the link for Marissa Lace's acne and confidence video
Thanks!

Some more videos that have really really helped me over the past couple of months:
And for anyone who doesn't know this dude already...please please watch him. He is just radiating positivity and confidence. He was on Accutane for a LONG time, and documented it every week...literally every week is just an episode of tips and tricks to help you deal and cope with your acne!
