Do you know what it feels like when every time somebody sees your face they see ugliness and imperfection? A lack of beauty. A place of serious improvement. And we know that. We have eyes too, we KNOW our face is unsightly. A topic of discomfort. Eyes that waver a bit too long and uncomfortably look down, pitying you for the fate you have been given. It only takes a few words to cause a person to start crying, feel apologetic and embarrassed for their face. It's not nice. And though well-meaning, advice doesn't help. At all. We know it. We know you're supposed to drink a lot of water and clean your skin. What you don't know is we can spend days on end researching remedies and cures, trying to solve and fix our plague/ a curse. And it doesn't work for us. So no, don't you dare EVER say we haven't made any effort and somehow we DESERVE this. Because we probably take better care of our skin than you do. We have too. It's not fun and if we only had one wish in the entire world, it would be for a cure and solution for this, and this alone. Sometimes I want to wear a paper mask on my head to hide from everyone, not just strangers but friends and family. I want to hide under my covers and I want a world where you are NOT judged/treated by your face. If there's one thing this experience has taught me it is to be kind. To choose kindness over all else and give benefit of the doubt. We are our actions and words not our appearances.
