Sensible- ha! That's a good one. I never said that acne makes you ugly. I said it is unattractive, meaning an undesirable attribute.

Of course acne itself is unnatractive. But unless a person is extremely shallow, people will still be attracted to us despite us having acne. I know because I've been suffering with this shit (and all the unpleasant mental and emotional things that come with it) for over ten years now and I've had many boyfriends during that time, all who thought I was completely gorgeous.

I'll admit I don't get hit on randomly very much anymore, but I think it's because of me feeling ugly and therefore not looking at people in the eye, not smiling at cute guys or flirting the way I used to when I had clear skin and felt better about myself.

The question isn't whether we can be attractive and have acne, it's whether we can FEEL attractive and have acne. To do the latter is incredibly challenging.

Yeah, it's easy for women. Men don't care whether you have acne or not. They are still looking you over like a piece of meat.

Scov93: I am attractive and have acne. But having a disease spoils one's beauty.

You guys are ridiculous. Have it your way- acne is attractive, and there is no such thing as having a criteria for physical beauty.

Sorry if you thought I was deliberately trying to undermine you - that wasn`t my intention. If you read the last sentence of my previous post, I acknowledge that everyone has a different opinion.

It doesn't matter for men either. Some of the hottest sex I ever had was with a dude who had pretty bad cystic acne.

This is extremely relevant. It's harder to stay confident when you're breaking out, but I try to remember this. Thank you for posting this - it's a good reminder and I needed to hear that today.

I recently went for a gruelling 6-hour job interview with skin problems, and went on a first date in the same week.

Got rejected for both - needless to say, I'm feeling really great about myself right now.

Excuse me for saying so, but you are a very lusty promiscuous woman. It is my personal feeling that I do not feel normal whilst I am in this condition. Therefore, I remain chaste and withdrawn. I simply cannot have a relationship with a woman who merely lusts over me, even in spite of obvious problems that I have. Why is it that women can never approach me in a friendly, amiable manner; instead giving me some ridiculous coy grin?

Accutane is the answer to all of this nonsense. Eliminate the disease, and you eliminate all of the pointless game-playing.

Women dont tend to approach guys by the way. They are probably shyly grinning at you as they are signalling to you to approach them! In fact most guys like to the chasing anyways

Yeah well I'm not exactly thrilled by the opportunity considering that they would gladly jump on any other guy that looked good to them at the time. I need one who is actually interested in ME. Not just a MAN. As if they are all the same.

I'm not promiscuous. I've been with the same person for many years. Lusty...well I can't argue with that. :)

Congratulations, dejaclairevoyant. In comparison to me you're very promiscuous. I am essentially a monk. I have been for many years.

srotriya, I was shocked when I saw your comment back to dejaclairevoyant... just because she had good sex means that she's promiscuous? Is it possible that your anger towards yourself is starting to spread to other people?

As for the actual question, I had acne and dry skin when I interviewed for my teaching job a couple months ago and still got the job!! But my acne was a distraction when I was answering the interview questions...

Yeah, it's a touchy subject for me because back when I was an alcoholic I would black out and actually be very promiscuous...which of course I feel sad about in hindsight (as I do the drunken fights, drunk driving and everything else that was disgusting about my alcoholism). But I have changed and have been very pure sexually for years now. That's kind of a badge of honor for me so I will defend myself in that way.

It's okay though, I see what he's saying.

Yeah, it's easy for women. Men don't care whether you have acne or not. They are still looking you over like a piece of meat.

Scov93: I am attractive and have acne. But having a disease spoils one's beauty.

if you see yourself as being attractive why can you just be happy with that and ignore any imperfections you may have

also finding a woman with acne attractive isnt because im looking over them like a "piece of meat"

Thank goodness someone said something about that "piece of meat" comment. Not every guy is a sexist jerk....and I'm 100% positive that lots of girls find guys with acne attractive still. AND it is not easy for women to have acne. It's not easy for ANYONE to have acne. geez...I think srotriya is trying to troll or something.

Dejaclairevoyant...did srotriya know that about you, though, when he said it? That sounds like a really hard time in your life, but I don't think that anyone has the right to say that good sex means that you're a promiscuous person.

When I had my job interview I had acne. Didn't even come into the equation. My bosses seemed really impressed and I got the job. Same for my Uni place. Heard back really quickly with a positive result because I'm really really passionate about what I do and I like to make the people around me happy.

I did have to say how perfect and acne free my skin was when I was in a pantomime once though. I laughed every time I said that line in the rehearsels. Thankfully stage makeup covers all. tongue.png I just felt like such a liar! Then again, I'm not a blonde princess in real life either. Heh heh.
