How ya feelin' about your acne today?

Mixed feelings today...

Not happy with my skincare routine (it isn't helping, but isn't making things worse...) and my skin isn't in its best shape.

I just want acne/skin problems eradicated from my life for good.

It's so difficult to get decent products here that aren't expensive as hell...

Not good. Seems like I broke out overnight. Painful one near my lip and quite a few on my chin. Trying to use creams to calm it, but going to take doxy for a week or two, hope that'll calm me. Grr.

24 Saturday, still battling acne.

I have decided to take Accutane after all. Just need to wait until this summer is over, I like being out in the sun so I can't take this drug now and risk to damage my skin. I bought BP 5% to add to my regimen every morning and evening but only lasted 3 days - my skin is burning, stinging, itching when I apply it (maybe I'm allergic to BP). I don't think I'll ever be able to do the Regimen, so Accutane is the only way. I need my life back, I need my self-esteem back! How much more of my youth will I waste? I want to remove those ugly scars, but I can't while I still have active acne on that damn cheek...Gosh, how ugly my skin is...

Good luck Pianina! Definitely a big decision to go ahead with accutane. I personally would suggest trying the regimen first though just in case it does help - it's 'side effects' are less severe than those possible with accutane. It uses only a 2.5% gel - anything over that is said to be just as effective as 2.5% but creates more irritation (which might be what you experienced with the 5% - you also have to let your skin get used to BP which can take a few weeks). But if you're really not able to do the regimen and think accutane is the best thing for you, then I hope it works out well for you, really :) We all deserve to have clear skin and we all have to do what's right for us or what works for us to get there.

Again, good luck!

Accidentally caught a glimpse of my face in my car window this morning. The shadows were unforgiving. It's another one of those "wanna burn my face off" days. Depressed. Came home, ate a cookie, feel worse.lol Will this ever end????

Yesterday morning my skin looked almost perfect, besides a couple pimples on my lip. I posted on here "I expect tomorrow my skin will look the best it has in years".

Well by the end of last night I was looking really oily and I could see some spots forming on my forehead. So I washed my face with this homemade bar soap I've had for a while and use every once in a while. I honestly thought it may have brought about my recent good skin, since I used it twice last week as well.

This morning I woke up looking all red and inflamed, as well as oily. Already feeling bad, I thought a sauna might help. In there I sweat more than I ever have in there before. Came home and 3 hours later (just now) looked in the mirror. YIKES. Looking absolutely terrible.

So what have I learned?

1) No more sauna

2) No more washing my face

I'm going to go caveman for the next couple of days. I have a big outdoor social thing Friday, and I hope to god I look better than this for it.

I went the whole work day without looking in a mirror, and when I finally did I saw that my whole chin and around my mouth was peeling badly... Like really, really badly. I had just been talking and laughing with my coworkers, and then I noticed one of them was staring at me, so I went to the bathroom... I was mortified; I wanted to crawl into a hole and die. Ugh, will my life always be like this??

Anyone knows what can cause chronic chapped lips? No lip balm ever helps me and my lips are chapped despite the temperature outside. I googled for it but got lost among hundreds of symptoms. One of them stack out however - could chapped lips be a symptom of hypothyroidism? Has anyone had something like that?

My face continues to remain clear but still have some HP and one or two spots on my neck. I`d like it to clear up but no one seems to notice and as long as I continue to limit looking in the mirror, I`m not that bothered about it.

Haven`t got another CBT session now until 23rd July as my therapist is on holiday. Will miss not going as I have built up a good relationship with the therapist and feel comfortable talking about issues that I would not speak about with family or friends. Really starting to feel the benefits now and cannot believe that just over a week ago, I was contemplating giving it up just because I had a bad couple of days.

What the hell.
I drink like crazy (1 l /daily just of pure water), but my lips and skin are dry anyway. My lips are chapped and bleed even during summer and it doesn't matter how much (and of what quality) lipbalm I apply. Whenever it dries off, I need to apply again cause my lips get chapped instantly (as if I'm on Accutane, seriously). I even tried to switch toothpaste to the one that has no harsh chemicals in it, thinking it's an allergic reaction, but still. I read that it was be a symptom of hypothyroidism so I'll do some blood test tomorrow.

I'm sorry you're dealing with that Pianina. :( I don't know much about it, other than there are people who suffer from it pretty severely because there was a forum on Curezone for it. I've only ever gotten them when I went from really humid environments to really dry ones. Some people say not to use lip balm because it makes you addicted to it, but I don't know.

Make sure you don't have any vitamin deficiency.Chapped lips and dry lips maybe a symptom of some deficiency.Take adequate vitamin C .

As if! I have 2 litres probably, which is about all I can manage given that I wait 2 hours before and after eating to drink it. And then I don't like to drink much before bed.

I drink a lot of other liquids as well - lemon tea, stinging nettle tea, some juices. So I guess it's 2 l or something...

I don't think it's that, cause I'm taking multivitamins daily which include vitamin C. I just can't see any reason why I should have such dry skin and lips. Even my legs are always covered with dead dry skin, no matter if I scrub them or use oil. Sucks, but acne is anyway the worst and takes attention away from this problem, haha

Venting time, not only about skin but also work.

I have a part time job in retail, been working there for about 2 months now. Overall I like the job, but the sales lead girl acted as my manager this morning since no other managers were in the store. It was SO. ANNOYING. She criticized almost everything I did, but at the same time whenever I'd be ringing someone up or helping a customer, she'd butt in and try to take over. She'd also try to tell me how to do everything at the register even though I didn't ask for any help...it was just irritating, because she's not ACTUALLY a manager. And when I successfully got a customer to sign up for a credit card, she was like "I'm proud of you, it was like a team effort but I'm proud of you for getting that CC!" ...No, -I- got the credit card. I asked the customer, told her the benefits, and she agreed to getting one before the sales lead girl butted in. Wtf?

Aaaand not only that but my skin bugged me today. I'm actually clear right now but I always have combination oily skin, no matter what. The sales lead girl kept asking if I was okay cause I looked 'flushed'--I don't know if that was a more polite way of telling me I looked sweaty and gross. :/ I looked in the mirror and I didn't even think I looked that oily! It's just so annoying having oily skin....hopefully the Spiro will help that.

Frustrating day but at least I have no new zits. :D

I've been having really chapped lips lately too. They're probably not as severe as what you're saying (haven't bled yet) but I've been putting jojoba oil on them and that seems to be helping a lot. Maybe it's something you could try? Or if you have another moisturising oil on hand, try that.

Yeah, jojoba works well for the body. I sometimes use honey on my lips for extra hydration - that's what they put in many lip balms anyway. I do think that too much vitamin A can cause dryness if you already have dry skin.

It has been really stressful at work lately and it seems like I feel tired all the time and my health hasn't been in tip top shape because I got a bad cold and I'm coughing all the time and sneezing because of allergies and to top it all of I got this cyst pop out of nowhere on my chin. Anxiety and stress get the best of me most of the time. I wish I could deal with things better and not take everything so seriously.

God, my skin is all over the place the last couple weeks. My forehead was terrible one day, then 4 days later the clearest it's ever been. Now it's going back to normal (aka pretty bad, clogged up-looking). My mouth and chin area has been breaking out like crazy, which it never does. I'm pretty sure that's the Vitamin C. But I also attribute the forehead clearing up to the Vitamin C, and also did my cheeks clearing up and red marks fading, but that's starting to revert now, too. So I'm thinking... quit, or lower the dosage of, the Vitamin C. But I also have to decide between: no washing, low pressure water only, high pressure water only, and washing with soap. All of which have at some point over the last couple weeks made me think, "oh that's what I have to do!". So stressed out over it. Yeah, stress is the one constant.

I feel better today than I have in a long time so I just had to share. I have been under near constant stress for the past year, especially since February. Now today I have hope and feel like life is falling into place. After Monday I will still be busy, but it will be within MY control not others. I will be settling into my new job where I plan to stay forever. Sometimes dreams come true. It has nothing to do with clear skin, either. I currently have four cysts that are bright red. If connected they would create a straight line that runs from just below the middle of my lower lip to the outer edge of my eyebrow. At least they have healed enough that they do not hurt anymore unless they get bumped.Oh, plus I have the usual whiteheads, blackheads, and scaring that I am accustomed to. I am secretly hoping that once my high stress is gone maybe I will be able to experience clear skin for the first time since I was about 9 years old! I'm NOT going to hold my breath, though. Even if I don't ever experience clear skin again, I know that I am a productive citizen that makes a difference in the lives of others. I am talented and determined and driven to attain the things that I want for myself. Those things include a sense of pride, feelings of love, happiness, and lifelong learning!

I'm sick of my scarring.I try to feel good about my body by building abs .It's an irony that i'm striving to get big scars on my abdomen (abs) haha...

Life is an idiot sometimes.
